This study explores and interprets in a new way the complex solvent and the temperature dependence of the NMR shifts for the N-$CH_2$ protons in tris(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato) iron(III) in acetone, benzene, carbon disulfide, chloroform, dimethylformamide and pyridine. The NMR shifts are interpreted in terms of the Fermi contact interaction and the dipolar term from the multipole expansion of the interaction of the electron orbital angular momentum and the electron spin dipolar-nuclear spin angular momentum. This analysis yields a direct measure of the effect of the solvent system on the environment of the transition metal ion. The results are analysed in terms of the crystal field environment of the transition metal ion with contributions from (a) the dithiocarbamate ligand (b) the solvent molecules and (c) the interaction of the effective dipole moment of the polar solvent molecule with the transition metal ion complex.
We have developed a three-axis configurational in situ SMOKE apparatus by which three-dimensional vector magnetization reversal processes are studied for ultrathin Co films grown on a Pd (111) single crystal in the thickness range of spin reorientation transition. This study provides a better understanding of magnetization reversal motions with the knowledge of three components of the magnetization vector at the transition of an easy axis of magnetization from the film normal at 5 ML Co to in-plane at 6 ML Co (ML denotes monolayer). For a 5.25 ML Co, it was observed that a slightly canted magnetization vector from the film normal rotated in the film plane under an applied field direction parallel to the film normal.

The electronic state and chemical bonding of $\beta$-MnO$_2$ with transition metal dopants were theoretically investigated by DV-X$_{\alpha}$ (the discrete variational X$_{\alpha}$) method, which is a sort of the first principles molecular orbital method using the Hartree-Fock-Slater approximation. The calculations were performed with a $_Mn_{14}$ MO$_{56}$ )$^{-52}$ (M = transition metals) cluster model. The electron energy level, the density of states (DOS), the overlap population, the charge density distribution, and the net charges, were calculated. The energy level diagram of MnO$_2$ shows the different band structure and electron occupancy between the up spin states and down spin states. The dopant levels decrease between the conduction band and the valence band with the increase of the atomic number of dopants. The covalency of chemical bonding was shown to increase and ionicity decreased in increasing the atomic number of dopants. Calculated results were discussed on the basis of the interaction between transition metal 3d and oxygen 2p orbital. In conclusion it is expected that when the transition metals are added to MnO$_2$ the band gap decreases and the electronic conductivity increases with the increase of the atomic number of dopants. the atomic number of dopants.
We have performed $^{63,65}$Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements on Zn and Ni doped YBa$_2Cu_3O_7$ (YBa$_2Cu_{3-x}M_xO_7$, M=Zn or Ni, x = 0.00 ${\sim}$ 0.09). Doping effects are markedly different in relaxation rates as well as in superconducting transition temperatures. Both the spin-lattice and the spin-spin relaxation rates decrease for Zn doped YBCO. However, those increase for Ni doped YBCO. This contrast in local electronic dynamics provides a clear microscopic evidence that Zn forms no local moment, while Ni develops a local moment. Consequently, the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuation is suppressed by Zn doping whereas it is preserved by Ni doping.

Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is one of the promising representive of polymer gate dielectric for its high resistivity and sutible dielectric constant. PMMA (Mw=96700) films were prepared on p-Si by spin coating method. PMMA were coated compactively and flatly as observeed by AFM. MIS(Al/PMMA/p-Si) structure was made and capacitance-voltage (C-V) and current-voltage (I-V) measurements were done with PMMA films for different thermal treatment temperature. PMMA films were showed proper dielectric constant and breakdown voltage. Above the glass transition temperature PMMA films degraded. C-V measured at various frequencies, dielectric constant increased a little. The absence of hysteresis in the C-V characteristics, which eliminate the possibility of mobile charges in the PMMA films. The observed thermal stability, smooth surfaces, dielectric constant, I-V behavior implies PMMA formed by spin coating can be used as an efficient gate dielectric layer in OTFTs.
High oxygen pressures appear an important tool in Solid State Chemistry. Two main routes can be developed: (i) the stabilization of thermally unstable oxides, used as precursors, in order to open the synthesis of new materials, (ii) the stabilization of the highest oxidation states of transition metals. This paper is essentially devoted to this second research axis. The methodology developed for preparing new oxides containing Fe(Ⅴ), Ir(Ⅵ), high spin Fe(Ⅳ) and Cu(Ⅲ) is described.
The NMR spectra of $Li_3Rb(SO_4)_2$ crystals and their relaxation processes were investigated by using $^7Li$ and $^{87}Rb$ NMR. The relaxation rates of the $^7Li$ and $^{87}Rb$ nuclei in the crystals were found to increase with increasing temperature, and can be described by the relation $T_1^{-1}{\propto}AT^2$. The dominant relaxation mechanism for these nuclei with electric quadrupole moments is provided by the coupling of these moments to the thermal fluctuations of the local electric field gradient via Raman spin-phonon processes.
The energy dispersion and magnetization of a modified magnetic dot are investigated numerically. The effects of additional electrostatic potential, magnetic field non-uniformity, and Zeeman spin splitting are studied. The modified magnetic quantum dot is a magnetically formed quantum structure that has different magnetic fields inside and outside of the dot. The additional electrostatic potential prohibits the ground-state angular momentum transition in the energy dispersion as a function of the magnetic field inside the dot, and provides oscillation of the magnetization as a function of the chemical potential energy. The magnetic field non-uniformity broadens the shape of the magnetization. The Zeeman spin splitting produces additional peaks on the magnetization.
The magnetic and transport properties far single crystals of Ru-doped mono-layered manganites $La_{0.5}Sr_{1.5}-Mn_{1-x}Ru_xO_4$ (0$\leq$$\chi$$\leq$0.1) have been studied using neutron diffraction and magnetization measurements. Temperature dependent magnetization data reveal that with an increase in the Ru concentration the parent charge ordered antiferromagnetic state is gradually destroyed and new ferromagnetic phase evolves. In the low Ru-doped system spin glass behavior is apparent in low temperature region, which is confirmed by ac and do magnetization measurements. The competing magnetic interaction between Mn/Mn and Mn/Ru couples is the most likely cause of the spin glass transition.
The 77 K luminescence and excitation spectra, room-temperature FT-infrared and visible absorption spectra of a newly prepared complex cis-[Cr(cyclam)(pn)]$(ClO_4)_3$, where cyclam and pn represent 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane and 1,2-propanediamine respectively, have been measured. Absorption maximum of the first spin-allowed transition in the electronic absorption spectra of cis-[Cr(cyclam)(pn)]$^{3+}$ and cis-[Cr(cyclam)(en)]$^{3+}$ appears at nearly the same position. The two spin-allowed and six spin-forbidden electronic transitions are assigned from the visible absorption and excitation spectra. It is also shown that the zero phonon line in the excitation spectrum splits into two components by 50 cm$^{-1}$.
