Period study of 1RXS J062518.2+733433 from the X-ray and optical data

  • 1RXS J062518.2+733433. The X-ray data was obtained in April 6, 2006 with the XMM-Newton and the optical data with CCD R filter at the 1m telescope of the Lemonsan observatory in 2005-2006 for 11 nights. This source is classified as a magnetic cataclysmic variable with a spin period of 1187.3 s in the optical region. We determine the spin period to be $1187.26\pm0.11$ s using the X-ray data, which is well consistent with the optical studies. However, we find that the pulse profile of the data (0.2-10 keV) folded at the period is different from the quasi-sinusoidal optical profile and is dependent on the selected X-ray energy bands. The results of period searching with times of extrema will be also presented.

  • This paper presents a decoupling controller of the missile seeker scan loop with a spin-stabilized platform. A precise seeker motion with respect to the scan command is essential for the higher acquisition probability of the target. As the seeker scan loop is a deeply cross-coupled two input two output system, an accurate pointing or scanning for each axis to the target is very difficult, even though provided with the help of a high performance controller. When a decoupling control is applied to the seeker scan loop, the cross-coupling between two axes can be reduced to a remarkable amount. As a low order of controller is required for the real time operation, a PI controller with decoupling filter is suggested and compared with other controllers. A linearized dynamic model of seeker scan loop is used and validated through the comparison of experimental results of step responses.

  • 본 논문은 회전안정성을 갖는 탄도수정탄의 대기속도 추정을 위한 필터 설계에 대하여 설명한다. 대상 시스템은 운용상의 제약(공간, 파워)으로 인하여, 대기속도 측정을 위한 센서를 사용할 수 없다. 따라서 한정된 센서를 이용한 대기속도 추정이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 IMU(가속도계, 자이로)에서 측정하는 3축 가속도와 각속도 데이터만 이용하여, 대기속도 추정을 위한 필터를 설계하였다. 대상 시스템의 경우, 넓은 속도, 고도의 운용범위를 커버하기 위한 추정 필터가 필요하므로 본 연구에서는 확장 칼만필터를 설계하여 기존의 연구와의 차별성을 두었다. 확장 칼만필터 설계를 위한 자코비안 행렬은 NRF(No-roll frame)에서의 간략화된 선형모델을 이용하여 구성하였다. 최종적으로 센서 오차와 바람 모델을 포함한 시뮬레이션을 통해 그 성능을 검토하였다. 이때, 시뮬레이션은 설계한 대기속도와 각속도 모델 오차의 영향을 분석하기 위하여 네 가지 경우의 프로세스 공분산 행렬 값에 대한 영향을 분석하였다.

  • Health effects associated with metal working fluid (MWF) exposures include dermatitis, respiratory disease, hypersensitive pneumonitis, and asthma. Frequently, occupational exposures to MWFs are controlled by ventilating an enclosure with an air cleaning unit that includes a fan preceded by various kinds of filtration. There are several kinds of air cleaning units used in machining centers. But the associated troubles have hindered from efficiently using these devices. The main problem is the relatively short period of filter replacement. The reason is that the air cleaning units usually do not have the de-oiling systems, thus leading the earlier clogging of filters and reducing the flow rate of hood. Thus, the first stage of study was conducted to overcome this problem by developing the new oil mist collector equipped with the easy de-oiling system. The principle of de-oiling is that the centrifugal force generated by spinning the drum covered by filter fabric separates oils from the filter fabric. It would be very similar to the spin-dry laundry. By adopting this de-oiling technique, the problems associated with the conventional oil mist collectors could be solved. Several tests/analyses were performed to make the lab-scale oil mist collector. The collection efficiencies and the de-oiling efficiencies of commercially available filter fabrics were tested. Subsequently, the endurance test were conducted by observing SEM photos of filter fabrics and measuring tensile strength/expansion coefficient after spinning the filter drum for 20 minutes at the different rotation speeds. By doing these experiments, the most appropriate filter fabric and rotation speed/duration were selected. Finally, the new oil mist collector was designed. In the near future, this device must be tested in the real machining center.

  • In this paper, a new application method of the Kalman filter to desigin a gyro is proposed. The role of a gyro is the estimation of an input rate with minimal error covariance. The size of the error covariance depends on gyro's parameters, which makes it possible to use the parameters of gyro to minimze the estimation error covariance. Numerical analysis shows that the error covariance becomes smaller as the spin axis momentum becomes larger and the damping coefficient smaller, but production cost must be considered. Through numerical analysis the parameter set for an acceptable - performance gyro with small cost can be selected.

  • The Rare Isotope Science Project was launched in 2011 in Korea toward constructing the Rare isotope Accelerator complex for ON line experiments (RAON). RAON will house several experimental systems, including the Muon Spin Rotation/Relaxation/Resonance (μSR) facility in High Energy Experimental Building B. This facility will use 600-MeV protons with a maximum current of 660 pμA and beam power of 400 kW. The key μSR features will facilitate projects related to condensed-matter and nuclear physics. Typical experiments require a few million surface muons fully spin-polarized opposite to their momentum for application to small samples. Here, we describe the design of a muon transport beam line for delivering the requisite muon numbers and the electromagnetic-component specifications in the μSR facility. We determine the beam-line configuration via beam-optics calculations and the transmission efficiency via single-particle tracking simulations. The electromagnet properties, including fringe field effects, are applied for each component in the calculations. The designed surface-muon beamline is 17.3 m long, consisting of 2 solenoids, 2 dipoles affording 70° deflection, 9 quadrupoles, and a Wien filter to eliminate contaminant positrons. The average incident-muon flux and spin rotation angle are estimated as 5.2 × 106 μ+/s and 45°, respectively.

3T MRI에서 흡수영역의 변화에 따른 Birdcage Resonator의 개발 (Development of Birdcage Resonator for Various Absorption Regions at 3T)

  • 목적: 인체에 비해 크기가 작은 동물의 자기공명영상을 획득하기 위하여 현재 사용되고 있는 Head 코일보다 원통 반지름이 작은 Low-pass Filter 형태의 Birdcage Resonator를 제작하여 보다 큰 신호대잡음비(Signal-to-Noise Ratio: SNR)를 획득함으로써 고해상도의 영상을 얻고자 하였다. 방법: 원통형의 아크릴과 구리테이프를 사용하여 각각 내경 지름이 13 cm, 15 cm이고, 길이 30 cm, 12개의 element를 가진 동물용 Low-pass Filter 형태의 Birdcage Resonator를 각각 제작하였고, 자기공명영상을 얻기 위하여 Spin Echo Pulse Sequence와 Fast Spin Echo Pulse Sequence를 사용하였다. 제작된 Birdcage Resonator는 실험적 수치와 팬톰과 동물에 대한 MR영상으로 그 가치를 평가하였다. 결과: 대상물의 크기에 따른 SNR을 비교하기 위하여 다양한 크기의 코일을 이용하여 각각의 팬톰 영상을 획득하였다. 팬톰 영상으로부터 측정된 SNR의 값을 통해 코일의 크기에 대한 대상물의 크기를 알 수 있었다. 토의 및 결론: 본 연구를 통하여 같은 형태의 Birdcage Resonator일 경우 대상물의 크기에 따라 SNR이 다르며, 특히 대상물의 크기가 코일 크기의 40∼80% 정도일 때 SNR이 더 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 코일의 크기에 비해 촬영하고자 하는 대상물의 부피가 작은 경우 대상물의 부피에 맞추어 코일을 제작하면 SNR이 보다 뛰어난 영상을 얻을 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Thermally Stable Photoreactive Polymers as a Color Filter Resist Bearing Acrylate and Cinnamate Double Bonds

  • Photoreactive polymers as a color filter resist containing both photoreactive acrylate and cinnamate double bonds were synthesized usin two step reactions. The chemical structures of the synthesized polymers were confirmed by $^1H$-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. The photoreactive polymers were quite soluble in most common organic solvents and produced excellent quality thin films by spin-coating. The photocuring kinetics of the acrylate and cinnamate double bonds were examined by FT-IR and UV- Vis spectroscopy, which confirmed the excellent photoreactivity of both the acrylate and cinnamate double bonds in the polymers. Upon UV irradiation, photocuring was almost completed within approximately 5 min, irrespective of the type of the prepolymers. The polymers also exhibited superior thermal stability, showing little change in transmittance in the visible region even after heating to $250^{\circ}C$ for one hour. Photolithographic micropatterns could be obtained with a resolution of a few microns.

The Optimization of LCD Color Filter Coating Method

  • We examine the process to enhance the productivity of the thin-film transistor-addressed liquid-crystal display (TFT LCD) panels with the objective of optimizing the relation between the Type of color PR dispense nozzle and the amount of dispensing of color PR consumption, directly affecting a spectroscopic analysis. Most manufacturers of the panels have been utilizing a spin-type coater. We show that we successfully optimize the spectral values by controlling the color PR dispense type(Static dispense or Dynamic dispense) and the amount of color PR. From this study, we accomplished to decrease 43% in color PR consumption and to decrease 30% in color PR Stained, to decrease 30% rework rate.
