  • ZnO particles are successfully synthesized at 150 ℃ for 30 min using zinc acetate as the Zn source and 1,4-butanediol as solvent using a relatively facile and convenient glycol process. The effect of ammonium hydroxide amounts on the growth behavior and the morphological evolution of ZnO particles are investigated. The prepared ZnO nanoparticle with hexagonal structure exhibits a quasi-spherical shape with an average crystallite size of approximately 30 nm. It is also demonstrated that the morphology of ZnO particles can be controlled by 1,4-butanediol with an additive of ammonium hydroxide. The morphologies of ZnO particles are changed sequentially from a quasi-spherical shape to a rod-like shape and a hexagonal rod shape with a truncated pyramidal tip, exhibiting preferential growth along the [001] direction with increasing ammonium hydroxide amounts. It is demonstrated that much higher OH- amounts can produce a nano-tip shape grown along the [001] direction at the corners and center of the (001) top polar plane, and a flat hexagonal symmetry shape of the bottom polar plane on ZnO hexagonal prisms. The results indicate that the presence of NH4+ and OH- ions in the solution greatly affects the growth behaviors of ZnO particles. A sharp near-band-edge (NBE) emission peak centered at 383 nm in the UV region and a weak broad peak in the visible region between 450 nm and 700 nm are shown in the PL spectra of the ZnO synthesized using the glycol process, regardless of adding ammonium hydroxide. Although the broad peak of the deep-level-emission (DLE) increases with the addition of ammonium hydroxide, it is suggested that the prominent NBE emission peaks indicate that ZnO nanoparticles with good crystallization are obtained under these conditions.

  • The main idea of the Alcock-Paczynski (AP) test is that, if we use a wrong distance-redshift relation to infer the shape of a spherical object in the Universe, this object may look non-spherical. To probe the cosmic expansion history through the AP test, the key point is to find something which is known as spherical in the Universe. We propose two possible ways applying the AP test to the large scale structure (LSS): 1) Based on the observed galaxies or quasars, one built up the beta-skeleton tracing the LSS, and investigating the inhomogeneity of the connections; 2) One reconstructs the smoothed density-contrast gradient field based on LSS observations, and investigating the inhomogeneity of the gradient vectors. Compared with some existed methods probing AP effect through 2-point correlation function, galaxy pairs, or voids, our methods have various advantages: 1) The information of both the high and low dense regions of the LSS are taken into account. 2) The redshift space distortion as the main contamination to the AP effect can be easily removed.

  • Micro spherical lens mold processing method based on mechanical one completes a spherical shape by setting a diamond tool of hundreds $\mu$m radius on spins with high speed and then using Z-axis vertical feeding motion like the fabrication of micro drilling. In this method, we can see unprocessed parts shaped like cylinder and cone and check increasing chatter marks and burrs by setting errors of the central axis of rotation on the edge of the tool. That is why this method doesn't suit for the optical lens mold. In this paper presents unprocessed parts are disappeared and chatter marks and burrs are decreased from centre of the lens after using Run-out measuring and setting system on run-out occurred from setting tool. Also the fabrication characteristics of 6:4 Brass, A1601, PMMA are compared and analyzed, establishing the optimum machining condition on each material.

  • This paper studied on the impact fracture modeling techniques of spherical dome with MACOR glass-ceramic. The glass ceramic material has bigger compressive strength than the tensile strength and endure well at high temperature. The fracture simulation under shock perssure was performed by the finite element method with nonlinear code LS-Dyna. The simulation was carried out by 3 type dome models under step impact pulse shape. 4-node shell element and 8-node solid element were used for analysis.

  • Various machining methods are being studied to improve the processing quality of the spherical R shape in press die. In this paper, we confirmed that changes in machining quality were associated with changes in cutting direction, path, and cutting angle, which are commonly used in the machining of molds. We obtained a surface roughness graph with each condition change in one specimen using an instrument that measured geometry and surface roughness simultaneously. The results of the study showed that the best surface roughness in the finish cut of the spherical surface was obtained using upward pick feed machining.

  • One of the most efficient designs for manufacturing LNG tank is the Moss spherical type because it has been validated through precise analyses with respect to reliability and construction safety by stress analysis. The Moss spherical tank is assembled with hundreds of Al thick plate patches that are deformed to curved shape at elevated temperature and welded together. It is essential to evaluate the amount of deflection in the Al5083 thick plate when the patch is transferred from the heating chamber to the forming die since the patch has a length of 12,000 mm and a thickness of 60 mm. Based on FE analysis results, a design procedure for minimizing deflection in Al5083 thick plate during transfer using a moving carrier is demonstrated in this paper.

  • In this study, aberration free aspherical lens design method named ray reverse tracing method is introduced. Differently from the traditional design method, the ray reverse tracing method traces the shape and location of a real object by use of its virtual image. From the result, especially spherical aberration free aspherical lens could be designed by use of the ray reverse tracing method. Furthermore, it could reduce the degree of dependence of optical characteristics on designer's ability, because deformation terms and optimization can be eliminated, which has been performed in conventional lens design process.

  • In this paper, an adaptive optimization strategy utilizing Kriging model and genetic algorithm is proposed for the optimal design of electromagnetic devices. The ordinary Kriging assisted by the spherical covariance model is used to construct surrogate models. In order to improve the computational efficiency, the adaptive uniform sampling strategy is applied to generate sampling points in design space. Through several iterations and gradual refinement process, the global optimal point can be found by genetic algorithm. The proposed algorithm is validated by application to the optimal design of a switched reluctance motor, where the stator pole face and shape of pole shoe attached to the lateral face of the rotor pole are optimized to reduce the torque ripple.

  • The receptance method was applied for the analysis of a cylindrical shell with a spherical cap attached at an arbitrary axial position of the shell. The boundary condition of the shell considered here was clamped-free condition. Before the analysis of the shell/spherical cap combined structure, natural frequencies of the cap and the shell were calculated separately and then they were used in the calculation of the frequencies of the combined structure by the receptance method. • The thermal Conductivities along the position of spherical shaped fruits, such as, apple, mandarine orange. citrus hagyul were predicted by the analysis of the cooling curves obtained by the hydrocooling procedure using ice water. The thermal conductivity was independent of temperature. The thermal conductivities along the position of the fruits were nearly constant, but their small deviations were inherited by the improper spherical shape and the heterogenous structural composition of the fruits. The thermal conductivities of apple, mandarine orange, and citrus hagyul were found to be 0.353, 0.430, and $0.397\;Kcal/mh^{\circ}C$, respectively.
