This study presents the methodology to link with aerial photos for advancing the accuracy of topographic survey data that is used to calculate water volume in urban stream. First, GIS spatial interpolation technique as Inverse Distance Weight (IDW) and Kriging was applied to construct the terrain morphology to the sand-bar and grass area using cross-sectional survey data, and also validation point data was used to estimate the accuracy of created topographic data. As the result of comparison, IDW ($d^{-2}_{ij}$, 2nd square number) in Sand-bar area and Kriging Spherical model in grass area showed more efficient results in the construction of topographic data of river boundary. But the differences among interpolation methods are very slight. Image classification method, Minimum Distance Method (MDM) was applied to extract sand-bar and grass area that are located to river boundary efficiently and the elevation value of extracted layers was allocated to the water level point value. Water volume with topographic data from aerial photos shows the advanced accuracy of 13% (in sand-bar) and 12% (in grass) compared to the water volume of original terrain data. Therefore, terrain analysis method in river linking with aerial photos is efficient to the monitoring about sand-bar and grass area that are located in the downstream of Dam in flooding season, and also it can be applied to calculate water volume efficiently.
In this paper, we propose an effective method for recognizing daily human activities from a stream of three dimensional body poses, which can be obtained by using Kinect-like RGB-D sensors. The body pose data provided by Kinect SDK or OpenNI may suffer from both the view variance problem and the scale variance problem, since they are represented in the 3D Cartesian coordinate system, the origin of which is located on the center of Kinect. In order to resolve the problem and get the view-invariant and scale-invariant features, we transform the pose data into the spherical coordinate system of which the origin is placed on the center of the subject's hip, and then perform on them the scale normalization using the length of the subject's arm. In order to represent effectively complex internal structures of high-level daily activities, we utilize Hidden state Conditional Random Field (HCRF), which is one of probabilistic graphical models. Through various experiments using two different datasets, KAD-70 and CAD-60, we showed the high performance of our method and the implementation system.

The demand fer small and high-capacity optical data storage devices has rapidly increased. The areal density of optical disk is increased by using higher numerical aperture objective lens and shorter wavelength source. A wafer-scale stacked micro objective lens with a numerical aperture of 0.85 and a focal length of 0.467mm for the 405nm blue- violet laser was designed and fabricated. A diffractive optical element (DOE) was used to compensate the spherical aberration of the objective lens. Among the various fabrication methods for micro DOE, the UV-replication process is more suitable fur mass-production. In this study, an 8-stepped DOE pattern as a master was fabricated by photolithography and reactive ion etching process. A flexible mold was fabricated for improving the releasing properties and shape accuracy in UV-replication process. In the replication process, the effects of exposing time and applied pressure on the replication quality were analyzed. Finally, the surface profiles of master, mold and molded pattern were measured by optical scanning profiler. The geometrical deviation between the master and the molded DOE was less than $0.1{\mu}m$. The diffraction efficiency of the molded DOE was measured by DOE efficiency measurement system which consists of laser source, sample holder, aperture and optical power meter, and the measured value was $84.5\%$.
Isotropy is one of the main assumptions for the ease of spatial prediction (named kriging) based on some covariance models. A lack of isotropy (or anisotropy) in a spatial process necessitates that some additional parameters (angle and ratio) for anisotropic covariance model be obtained in order to produce a more reliable prediction. In this paper, we propose a new class of geometrically extended anisotropic covariance models expressed as a weighted average of some geometrically anisotropic models. The maximum likelihood estimation method is taken into account to estimate the parameters of our interest. We evaluate the performances of our proposal and compare it with an isotropic covariance model and a geometrically anisotropic model in simulation studies. We also employ extended geometric anisotropy to the analysis of real data.
We made a study on real-time determination method for relative position using the laser-measured distance data between satellites. We numerically performed the determination of relative position in accordance with extended Kalman filter algorithm using the vectors obtained through nonlinear equation of relative motion, laser simulator for distance measurement, and attitude determination of chief satellite. Because the spherical parameters of relative distance and direction are used, there occur some changes in precision depending on changes in relative distance when determining the relative position. As a result of simulation, it was possible to determine the relative position with several millimeter-level errors at a distance of 10 km, and sub-millimeter level errors at a distance of 1 km. In addition, we performed the determination of relative position assuming the case that global positioning system data was not received for long hours to see the impact of determination of chief satellite orbit on the determination of relative position. The determination of precise relative position at a long distance carried out in this study can be used for scientific mission using the satellite formation flying.
The aim of this work was to obtain uniform and well-dispersed spherical silver nanoparticles using statistical design-of-experiment methods. We performed the experiments using 2 k fractional factorial designs with respect to key factors of a general chemical reduction method. The nanoparticles prepared were characterized by SEM, TEM and UV-visible absorbance for particle size, distribution, aggregation and anisotropy. The data obtained were analyzed and optimized using a statistical software, Minitab. The design-of-experiment methods using quantified data enabled us to determine key factors and appreciate interactions between factors. The measured properties of nanoparticles were dominated not only by individual one or two main factors but also by interactions between factors. The appropriate combination of the factors produced small, narrow-distributed and non-aggregated silver nanoparticles of about 30 nm with approximately 10% standard deviation.

This paper comprises two specific objectives. The first is to examine the applicability of Ordinary Kriging interpolation(OK) to finite element method that is based on variogram modeling in conjunction with different allowable limits of separation distance. The second is to investigate the accuracy according to theoretical variograms such as polynomial, Gauss, and spherical models. For this purpose, the weighted least square method is applied to obtain the estimated new stress field from the stress data at the Gauss points. The weight factor is determined by experimental and theoretical variograms for interpolation of stress data apart from the conventional interpolation methods that use an equal weight factor. The validity of the proposed approach has been tested by analyzing two numerical examples. It is noted that the numerical results by Gauss model using 25% allowable limit of separation distance show an excellent agreement with theoretical solutions in literature.

There have been many studies from the genetic system to physical activity and emotional expression such that there are gender differences. The purpose of this study was to determine how the structural characteristics of cortical thickness differ between males and females. This study used data from the Human Connectome Project (HCP). To analyze age-specific sexual dimorphisms of cortical thickness, selected 8-80 year old subjects were divided into five detailed age range groups according to each criterion. A total of 1,700 individual brain MRI T1 data were registered in stereotaxic space for analysis and classified into white matter (WM), gray matter (GM), and cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF). For surface-based analysis, the WM/GM surface was reconstructed from a spherical polygon model with 40962 vertices per hemisphere, and each vertex was extended to the GM/CSF boundary. Cortical thickness was then measured between each vertex using the t-link method. In the statistical analysis, intracranial volume was used as a covariate to exclude the effect of the difference in brain size of each individual, and the result of using age as a covariate was added to confirm the age effect within each group. Gender differences in cortical thickness had significant results by group. This may be an index to explain diseases with sexual dimorphism in prevalence or become a basis for explaining the characteristics of each sex that appear in behavior, personality, and aging. Therefore, the results of our study could be a criterion for age classification in future studies and for understanding 'normal' sexual dimorphism.

A study of gas hydrate is a worldwide popular interesting subject as a potential energy source. A seismic survey for gas hydrate have performed over the East sea by the KIGAM since 1997. General indicators of natural submarine gas hydrates in seismic data is commonly inferred from the BSR (Bottom Simulating Reflection) that occurred parallel to the see floor, amplitude decrease at the top of the BSR, amplitude Blanking at the bottom of the BSR, decrease of the interval velocity, and the reflection phase reversal at the BSR. So the seismic data processing for detecting gas hydrates indicators is required the true amplitude recovery processing, a accurate velocity analysis and the AVO (Amplitude Variation with Offset) analysis. In this paper, we had processed the field data to detect the gas hydrate indicators, which had been acquired over the East sea in 1998. Applied processing modules are spherical divergence, band pass filtering, CDP sorting and accurate velocity analysis. The AVO analysis was excluded, since this field data had too short offset to apply the AVO analysis. The accurate velocity analysis was performed by XVA (X-window based Velocity Analysis). This is the method which calculate the velocity spectrum by iterative and interactive. With XVA, we could determine accurate stacking velocity. Geobit 2.9.5 developed by the KIGAM was used for processing data. Processing results say that the BSR occurred parallel to the sea floor were shown at $367\~477m$ depths (two way travel time about 1800 ms) from the sea floor through shot point 1650-1900, the interval velocity decrease around BSR and the reflection phase reversal corresponding to the reflection at the sea floor.
