The main objective of this paper is to control the speed of Nonlinear Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) by controlling the throttle position. Various control techniques such as well known Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller in conjunction with state feedback controller (SFC) such as Pole Placement Technique (PPT), Observer Based Controller (OBC) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) Controller are designed. Some Intelligent control techniques e.g. fuzzy logic PD, Fuzzy logic PI along with Adaptive Controller such as Self Organizing Controller (SOC) is also designed. The design objective in this research paper is to provide smooth throttle movement, zero steady-state speed error, and to maintain a Selected Vehicle (SV) speed. A comparative study is carried out in order to identify the superiority of optimal control technique so as to get improved fuel economy, reduced pollution, improved driving safety and reduced manufacturing costs.

There exist two critical in application of the magnetic bearing system. One is the control axis interference caused by gyroscopic effect and the other is the vibration caused by the unbalance on the rotor. To solve both problems at the same time, first, a centralized full-state feedback controller based on the LQR control theory was designed to compensate for the gyroscopic effect. Second, disturbance rejection control input based on the observer was designed to avoid the vibration causer by the unbalanced rotor. Balancing input computer accroding to LQR and output of the observer were derived in term of rotational speed. Effectiveness of the on-line balancing was verified through numerical simulation. The developed observer-based controller was also applied to the linear and nonlinear magnetic bearing systems.

In this study, a methodology of synchronous control which can be applied to position synchronization of a two-axis rotating system is developed. Based on coupling structure, the synchronous control system is composed of disturbance observer, speed and synchronous controllers. The speed controller is designed to follows speed reference. The disturbance observer is designed to restrain synchronous error. In addition, the synchronous controller is designed for a viewpoint of accurate synchronization in lead compensation law. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulation.
IP speed controller is used as a main controller and it makes the system low overshoot and easy controllability. Load torque is estimated by Kalman filter algorithm and parameter controller is used against a rotor inertia negative variations. Parameter Controller (PC) is equipped with a torque observer implemented by software of a digital signal Processor. PC is a parameter controller which selects a moment of inertia J in responding to a load torque to control the system response.
In this paper a robust speed controller for an induction motor is proposed. The speed controller consists or a fuzzy sliding adaptive controller(FSAC) and a sliding mode torque observer(SMTO). FSAC removes the problem or oscillations caused by discontinuous inputs of the sliding mode controller. The controller also provides robust characteristics against parameter and sampling time variations. Although, however, the performance of FSAC is better than PI controller and fuzzy controller in robustness, it generates the problem of slow response time. To alleviate this problem, a compensator, which performs feedforward control using torque signals produced by SMTO, is added. The simulation and hardware implementation results show that the proposed system is robust to the load disturbance, parameter variations, and measurement noises.
In this paper, search method and sliding mode observer are developed for efficiency optimization of induction motor. The proposed control scheme consists of efficiency controller and adaptive backstepping controller. A search controller for which information of input of fuzzy controller is included in efficiency controller that uses a direct vector controlled induction motor. The search controller is based on the "Rosenbrock" method and finds the flux level at the minimum input power of induction motor. Once this optimal flux level has been determined, this information is utilized to update the rule base of a fuzzy controller A sliding mode observer is designed to estimate rotor flux and an adaptive backstepping controller is also used to compensate for mechanical uncertainties in the speed control of induction motor. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed controller.
In this paper, a novel position controller based on state feedback and feed-forward is proposed. Traditional position and speed controllers are replaced by a single controller with the position and speed as state feedbacks, and the position command and load torque as feed-forwards. The feedback and feed-forward gains are obtained by analytic modeling and design. The load torque, rotor speed and position are estimated by an observer based on a Kalman filter (KF) with a low resolution mechanical position sensor. Feed-forward compensation by an estimated load torque is used to improve the dynamic performance during load torque changes.

This paper presents a sensorless speed control of cylindrical permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSM) using an adaptive integral binary observer In view of composition with a main loop regulator and an auxiliary loop regulator, the binary observer has a property of the chattering alleviation in the constant boundary layer. However, the steady state estimation accuracy and robustness are dependent upon the width of the constant boundary. In order to improve the steady state performance of the binary observer, the binary observer is formed by adding extra integral dynamics to the switching hyperplane equation. With the help of integral characteristic, the rotor speed can be finely estimated and utilized for a sensorless speed controller for PMSM. Since the Parameters of the dynamic equations such as machine inertia or a viscosity friction coefficient are lot well known, there are many restrictions in the actual implementation. The proposed adaptive integral binary observer applies an adaptive scheme so that observer may overcome the problem caused by using the dynamic equations and the rotor speed is constructed by using the Lyapunov function. The observer structure and its design method are described. The experimental results of the proposed algorithm are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.
This paper presents a speed controller method based on the disturbance torque observer of high performance brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives. In case of the speed control of robot arms and tracking applications with lower stiffness, we cannot design the speed controller gain to be very large from tile viewpoint of the system stability. Thus, the feedforward compensator using disturbance torque observer was proposed. This method can improve the speed characteristic without increasing the speed controller gain. The enhanced speed control performance can be achieved and the speed response against the disturbance torque can be Improved for high-performance BLDC motor drive systems in which the bandwidth of tile speed controller cannot be made large enough. Consequently, speed control for high-performance BLDC motor drives become improved. The simulation results for BLDC motor drive systems confirm the validity of the proposed method.
This paper presents a disturbance observer-based robust backstepping load-following control (DO-RBLFC) scheme for modular high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (MHTGRs) in the presence of actuator saturation and disturbances. Based on reactor kinetics and temperature reactivity feedback, the mathematical model of the MHTGR is first established. After that, a DO is constructed to estimate the unknown compound disturbances including model uncertainties, external disturbances, and unmeasured states. Besides, the actuator saturation is compensated by employing an auxiliary function in this paper. With the help of the DO, a robust load-following controller is developed via the backstepping technique to improve the load-following performance of the MHTGR subject to disturbances. At last, simulation and comparison results verify that the proposed DO-RBLFC scheme offers higher load-following accuracy, better disturbances rejection capability, and lower control rod speed than a PID controller, a conventional backstepping controller, and a disturbance observer-based adaptive sliding mode controller.
