  • Lots of previous researches on determinants of apartment prices in Korea consider spatial dependence while few studies regard endogeneity of spatial lag by adding a spatial lag to an OLS regression. Thus, this study intends to include this spatial lag in its analysis of determinants of apartment price in Busan by using a two-stage quantile regression. The empirical results are : the coefficient of spatial lag variable is more than 0.5 and is statistically significant at 1% level. From this result we can confirm that the effect of the price of nearby apartment on that of another apartment is very big. We also find that apartment buyers prefer larger size, height in both the total floors and living floor, south-facing living room with a ocean view, and proximity to metros, high school and coast. Unlike our expectation, however, mountain view is less favored than building view, which we can guess is because apartments with mountain views are mostly located in the low-priced apartment area where some of their living rooms face north. Quantile regression also explains the effect of hedonic characteristics on apartment price better than OLS estimation. For instance, the effect of south facing living room variable on the price is twice larger in high-price apartments than in low-price counterparts. And the effect of vicinity to the coast or the ocean is ten times bigger in high priced apartments.

  • Based on the importance of spatial thinking to understand celestial motion, this study aimed to investigate how spatial thinking was treated in astronomy classes. For this study, we analyzed four elementary teachers' science classes about the unit 'solar systems and stars' in 5th grade in terms of spatial thinking. The results showed that sharing perspectives and orientation explicitly between a teacher and students were important for students to understand celestial motion. Providing the earth-based and the space-based viewpoints simultaneously were helpful for students' understanding of celestial motion. Based on these results, this study suggested that clarifying the viewpoint and orientation, showing the earth-based and the space-based viewpoint simultaneously, and reorganizing the relative units of astronomy based on celestial motion and spatial thinking.

  • The purpose of this study is to set a relationship between intentional system and spatial orientation, and with space model in the human world to orient yourself is to present the basic spatial concepts. This is composed of parts of intentional system and spatial orientation on the research. Through the study of intentional system which is based on the orientation with Daniel Dennett's, it suggests the space-model that composed with aspects of intentionality and spatial elements. With space-model and judgement of spatial types, it makes relationship confirm between them. Through this process, following the results of this study were derived. First, intentional stance of space is the key for building knowledge and memories about space, and for identifying external environment images which are experienced in the senses of human. Second, changing the meaning from space to place makes horizons of space broader and creates a new sense of space with put the intentional orientation into the space. Third, this study can make confirm what the aspect of the space-schema-elements for orientation in space, serves as the presentation elements. This study leaps an old-view of the architectural customs about spatial orientation, and creates an opportunity to refine the newer concept of space. This concept of space is a basic essential for 'site-selection' and 'spot-catching' as an intentional system for spatial orientation and to establish a relationship with human beings in the world of his own orientation to the concept of space.

  • Spatial correlation is a result of insufficient antenna spacing among multiple antenna elements, while temporal correlation is caused by Doppler spread. This paper compares the effect of spatial and temporal correlation in order to investigate the performance of multiuser scheduling algorithms in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channels. This comparison includes the effect on the ergodic capacity, on fairness among users, and on the sum-rate capacity of a multiuser scheduling algorithm utilizing statistical channel state information in spatio-temporally correlated MIMO broadcast channels. Numerical results demonstrate that temporal correlation is more meaningful than spatial correlation in view of the multiuser scheduling algorithm in MIMO broadcast channels. Indeed, the multiuser scheduling algorithm can reduce the effect of the Doppler spread if it exploits the information of temporal correlation appropriately. However, the effect of spatial correlation can be minimized if the antenna spacing is sufficient in rich scattering MIMO channels regardless of the multiuser scheduling algorithm used.

  • This paper discusses a most suitable wireless communications system for subway trains on condition that a geo-spatial video system is implemented in subway trains. Geo-spatial video system for subway trains refers to the device that can transfers the images captured by cameras within a subway station building or in and around a subway track to on coming trains wirelessly, which allows the operator in operating room to monitor the state of a platform and a subway track, the flow of passengers, and the condition of passengers getting on and off. To minimize the problem, secure civil safety and prevent accidents and calamity from occurring, a geo-spatial video system for subway trains has been increasingly introduced. The wireless communications systems for GVS for subway trains involve HF(High Frequency), IR(Infra Red), M/W(Micro Wave), wireless LAN approaches. Each has its own strengths/weaknesses, and different vendors have different technology.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the Daniel Libeskind' spatial concept in view of the Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology. After the coming of postmodern architecture, the concept of space ceased to be discussed between architects. Instead a sign and a form were supposed as much more important subject to define architectural discipline. But after 1980, the new concept of architectural space was experimented by the architects like Frank Gehry, Peter Eisenman, Steven Hall, and Bernard Tschumi, which was clearly distinguished from modern spatial concept. By the Daniel Libeskind' architecture, this study are to make clear this tendency. For this, we accept as an important instrument Meleau-Ponty's phenomenology and the spatial concept of Minimalism, which stress the relationship of inter-subjectivity between space and human body. Consequently, Daniel Libeskind' spatial concept is characterized by fragmental, accidental, heterogeneous space by accidental events which is occurred by movement of human, which was indentified with Merleau-Ponty's spatial concept.

  • This paper suggests constraint data modeling based on constraint data presentation techniques to perform complex spatial database operation naturally. We were able to identify the limitation of extendibility of dimension and non-equal framework via relevant research for former schema of spatial database and query processing. Therefore we described generalized tuple of spatial data and the definition of suggested constraint data modeling. Also we selected MLPQ/PReSTO tool among constraint database prototype and compare standard functionality of ARC/VIEW. Then we design scenario for spatial operation using MLPQ/PReSTO and we suggested application effect after query processing. Based on above explanation, we were able to identify that we can process spatial data naturally and effectively using simple constraint routine on same framework via constraint data modeling.

  • "China's Western Development Policy" has brought multiple opportunities to the development of tourism in Southwest China including Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Chongqing and Tibet. The 4 provinces and 1 municipality overall show a certain degree of accumulation effect and coordinated development in tourism due to their location, traffic and traditional economic cooperation. This study takes the Southwest China as the research object and utilized the spatial dislocation model and the tourism spatial misalignment index to estimate the mismatch degree between tourism resources and tourism income among provinces and try to find out the internal reason background. The results show that each of the five provinces has its own advantages in index of economy, tourism resources, human resource, and transportation, leading to differences in the center of gravity of the entire region in all aspects. In view of the results of spatial dislocation analysis, suggestions for improvement and optimization are put forward to promote the high-quality development of tourism in Southwest region. development.

  • Although virtual reality technology may not be deemed as having a satisfactory quality for all users, it tends to incite interest because of the expectation that the technology can allow one to experience something that they may never experience in real life. The most important aspect of this indirect experience is the provision of immersive 3D audio and video, which interacts naturally with every action of the user. The immersive audio faithfully reproduces an acoustic scene in a space corresponding to the position and movement of the listener, and this technology is also called spatial audio. In this paper, we briefly introduce the trend of spatial audio technology in view of acquisition, analysis, reproduction, and the concept of MPEG-I audio standard technology, which is being promoted for spatial audio services.
