An Enhanced Density and Grid based Spatial Clustering Algorithm for Large Spatial Database (대용량 공간데이터베이스를 위한 확장된 밀도-격자 기반의 공간 클러스터링 알고리즘)

  • Spatial clustering, which groups similar objects based on their distance, connectivity, or their relative density in space, is an important component of spatial data mining. Density-based and grid-based clustering are two main clustering approaches. The former is famous for its capability of discovering clusters of various shapes and eliminating noises, while the latter is well known for its high speed. Clustering large data sets has always been a serious challenge for clustering algorithms, because huge data set would make the clustering process extremely costly. In this paper, we propose an enhanced Density-Grid based Clustering algorithm for Large spatial database by setting a default number of intervals and removing the outliers effectively with the help of a proper measurement to identify areas of high density in the input data space. We use a density threshold DT to recognize dense cells before neighbor dense cells are combined to form clusters. When proposed algorithm is performed on large dataset, a proper granularity of each dimension in data space and a density threshold for recognizing dense areas can improve the performance of this algorithm. We combine grid-based and density-based methods together to not only increase the efficiency but also find clusters with arbitrary shape. Synthetic datasets are used for experimental evaluation which shows that proposed method has high performance and accuracy in the experiments.

  • Transportation digital map has built based on NGIS (national geography institute's 1 :5000 digital database) which derived from the aerial photo materials. Transportation digital map is a part of National Transportation Database Building Project carried out by the Korea Transport Institute and Ministry of Construction and Transportation. Transportation digital map for the purpose of transportation plan and investment has been updated and corrected the NGIS database especially for road network. Transportation digital map database is essential basic data fully applied for transportation policy and planning. The database must be reliable and objective to be applied for national transportation policy decision and transportation analysis. In addition, it needs accuracy and currentness to reflect the road network for the survey year. To satisfy the purpose of the database, following steps are necessary first, data Production and building has to be done by guideline of survey and database building. Secondly, geometric and logical errors which can occur during the survey and database building should be carefully detected. Thirdly, sectional guideline for database examination and procedure needs to be set up systematically and coherently This study is about examination guidelines for section and procedure on nodes and links which are essential object in transportation digital map database. According to the type of error, consistent and systematic error examination can lead to quality guarantee for objective and reliable database.

A Method for Managing Positions of Moving Objects (이동 객체의 위치 처리 기법)

  • The objects which continuously change their locations in the real world are called moving objects. The works on the existing spatial indices have been proposed the retrieval methods. However, keeping track of the terminal location of moving objects is more important than the efficiency of the query processing in the moving object database. Therefore, many pure spatial indices are not applicable to the moving objects database which should maintain the object's current location as precise as possible. This parer proposes a method for reducing the construction time of indexing moving objects. We analyze the characteristics of the method to re-index all the objects after each time period and the method to update immediately the locations on reporting their locations. We also newly propose a selective immediate update method using the properties of moving objects in order to minimize the number of database updates.

  • The susceptibility of landslides and the effect of landslide-related factors at Penang in Malaysia using the Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing data have been evaluated. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of aerial photographs and from field surveys. Topographical and geological data and satellite images were collected, processed, and constructed into a spatial database using GIS and image processing. The factors chosen that influence landslide occurrence were: topographic slope, topographic aspect, topographic curvature and distance from drainage, all from the topographic database; lithology and distance from lineament, taken from the geologic database; land use from Landsat TM (Thermatic Mapper) satellite images; and the vegetation index value from SPOT HRV (High Resolution Visible) satellite images. Landslide hazardous areas were analysed and mapped using the landslide-occurrence factors employing the probability-frequency ratio method. To assess the effect of these factors, each factor was excluded from the analysis, and its effect verified using the landslide location data. As a result, land 'cover had relatively positive effects, and lithology had relatively negative effects on the landslide susceptibility maps in the study area. In addition, the landslide susceptibility maps using the all factors showed the relatively good results.

  • Seoul Metropolitan Government(SMG) as well as the other local governments should have a role in managing groundwater according to the Groundwater Law. As a guidance of the management and control of groundwater use, this study emphasizes the necessity of the construction of 1 ; 5,000 hydrogeological maps and proposes possble usages of the maps. As expected to be a part of the groundwater GIS database constructed by SMG, the maps can be used as base maps to facilitate the whole processes related to the groundwater development and preservation. For the purpose of the construction of the 1 ; 5,000 hydrogelogical GIS database, we develop the classification system of the hydro-geological entities and their attributes.

Development of Integrated Design System for Space Frame Structures (스페이스프레임 구조물의 통합설계시스템 개발)

  • This paper describes three modules for development of the Space Frame Integrated Design System(SFIDS). The Control Module is implemented to control the developed system. The Model Generation Module based on PATRAN user interface enables users to generate a complicated finite element model for space frame structures. The Optimum Design Module base on a branch of combinatorial optimization techniques which can realize the optimization of a structure having a large number of members designs optimum members of a space frame after evaluating analysis results. The Control Module and the Model Generation Module Is implemented by PATRAN Command Language(PCL) while C++ language is used in the Optimum Design Module. The core of the system is PATRAN database, in which the Model Generation Module creates information of a finite element model. Then, PATRAN creates Input files needed for the analysis program from the information of the finite element model in the database, and in turn, imports output results of analysis program to the database. Finally, the Optimum Design Module processes member grouping of a space frame based on the output results, and performs optimal member selection of a space frame. This process is repeated until the desired optimum structural members are obtained.

  • In this study, a design-supporting system, which is intended to assist engineers in the schematic phase of the structural design, is developed using a case database that contains design information of tall buildings in Korea. A case-based reasoning method utilizing the case database is proposed. The inductive retrieval module for selecting structural system, in the initial stage, from the design information of case database for 47 tall buildings is presented. Also, the nearest-neighbor retrieval method for selecting similar design cases is introduced.

  • For the mobile GIS services, it is not acceptable to construct a new map database only for wireless service due to vast cost. But the existing map database cannot be used directly for the services due to narrow wireless bandwidth and shortage of mobile device resources. This thesis proposes spatial data simplification methods, thus, the existing map database enable the mobile GIS services. The proposing methods are based on the existing map generalization techniques. We extend it to mobile environments, and implement. This thesis also includes the issue of discriminative data simplification technique according to display level and map display interface suitable for mobile devices. Research results an estimated by experiments.

  • 최근 이동 통신 기술과 GPS 기술의 발달은 실시간으로 이동하는 차량이나 비행기 등과 같은 이동 객체의 위치 정보 서비스를 가능하게 하였고, 이로 인해 이동 객체의 정보를 빠르게 검색하고 저장하기 위한 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 지금까지의 연구는 이동 객체의 과거 궤적 정보, 현재 및 미래 정보를 다루기 위한 구조가 각각 분리되어 연구되어 왔다. 하지만 이동객체는 시간의 흐름에 따라 연속적으로 변화하기 때문에 과거 정보와 현재 정보를 별도로 관리할 경우, 빈번한 위치 갱신이 발생하는 이동 객체의 환경에서는 심각한 처리비용이 요구된다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 이동 객체의 위치 정보를 효과적으로 관리하기 위하여 이동 객체의 과거 궤적정보 뿐만 아니라 현재의 정보까지도 하나의 색인 내에 통합하여 관리하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 범위 질의와 같은 좌표 기반의 질의뿐만 아니라 이동 객체의 궤적과 관련된 질의까지도 처리 가능하도록 기존의 TB-tree를 확장한다 또한 기존의 이동 객체 관리 기법들에서 처리하던 이동 객체의 궤적 정보를 저장하기 위한 방법을 개선하여 이동 객체 위치 정보의 중복저장 문제를 해결하고, 전체 색인의 크기를 크게 줄일 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 현재 정보의 관리를 통해 새로운 데이터 삽입 시 방문하는 node의 수를 줄이고, 삽입 시간을 단축하는 방법을 제시한다.
