  • One of the most difficult problems in building a distributed GIS lies in the heterogeneity of spatial databases. In particular, positional mismatches between spatial databases, which arise due to several reasons, may incur incorrect query results. They result in unreliable outputs of query processing. One simple solution is to correct positional data in spatial databases at each site, according to the most accurate one. This solution is however not practical in cases where the autonomy of each database should be respected. In this paper, we propose a spatial query processing method without correcting positional data in each spatial database. Instead of correcting positional data, we dynamically transform a given query region or position onto each space where spatial objects of each site are located. Our proposed method is based on an elastic transformation method by using delaunay triangulation. Accuracy of this method is proved mathematically, and is confirmed by an experiment. Moreover, we implemented using common use database system for usefulness verification of this method.

  • The goal of this paper is to analyze, through simulations and experiments, GNSS interference mitigation performance under various types of antenna structures against wideband and narrowband interferences using spatial-temporal adaptive signal processing (STAP) techniques. The STAP approach, which combines spatial and temporal processing, is a viable means of GNSS array signal processing that enhancing the desired signal quality and providing protection against interference. In this paper, we consider four types of 3D antenna array structure - Uniform Linear Array (ULA), Uniform Rectangular Array (URA), Uniform Circular Array (UCA), and the Single-Ring Cylindrical Array (SRCA) under an interference environment. Analytical evaluation and simulations are performed to investigate the system performance. This is followed by simulation GPS orbits in interfered environment are used to evaluate the STAP performance. Furthermore, experiments using a 2x2 URA hardware simulator data show that with the removal of wideband and narrowband interference through the STAP techniques, the signal tracking performance can be enhanced.

  • Performance of a STAP(space-time adaptive processing) algorithm highly depends on how closely the estimated covariance matrix(CM) resembles the actual CM by the interference in CUT(cell under test). A STAP has 2 dimensional data structure determined by the number of array elements and the number of transmitting pulses and both numbers are generally not small. Thus, to meet the degree of freedom(DOF) of the CM, a huge amount of training data is required. This paper presents an algorithm to generate virtual training data from small received data, via converting them into the data in spatial frequency-Doppler plane. We theoretically derive where the clutter exist in the plane and present the procedure to implement the proposed algorithm. Finally, with the simulated scenario of small received data, we show the proposed algorithm can improve STAP performance.

  • In managing building facilities, spatial information is the basic data for decision making. However, the method of acquiring spatial information is not easy. In many cases, the site and drawings are often different due to changes in facilities and time after construction. In this case, the site data should be scanned to obtain spatial information. The scan data actually contains spatial information, which is a great help in making space related decisions. However, to obtain scan data, an expensive LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) device must be purchased, and special software for processing data obtained from the device must be available.Recently, SLAM (Simultaneous localization and mapping), an advanced map generation technology, has been spreading in the field of robotics. Using SLAM, 3D spatial information can be obtained quickly in real time without a separate matching process. This study develops and tests whether SLAM technology can be used to obtain spatial information for facility management. This draws considerations for developing a SLAM device for real-time remote scanning for facility management. However, this study focuses on the system development method that acquires spatial information necessary for facility management through SLAM technology. To this end, we develop a prototype, analyze the pros and cons, and then suggest considerations for developing a SLAM system.

  • Globally, mobile, cloud computing or big data are the recent marketable key terms. These trend technologies or paradigm in the ICT (Information Communication Technology) fields exert large influence on the most application fields including geo-spatial applications. Among them, cloud computing, though the early stage in Korea now, plays a important role as a platform for other trend technologies uses. Especially, mobile cloud, an integrated platform with mobile device and cloud computing can be considered as a good solution to overcome well known limitations of mobile applications and to provide more information processing functionalities to mobile users. This work is a case study to design and implement the mobile application system for geo-spatial image filtering processing operated on mobile cloud platform built using OpenStack and various open sources. Filtering processing is carried out using R environment, recently being recognized as one of big data analysis technologies. This approach is expected to be an element linking geo-spatial information for new service model development and the geo-spatial analysis service development using R.

  • The importance of spatio-temporal trajectories for contact tracing has increased due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Spatio-temporal trajectories store time and spatial data of moving objects. In this paper, I propose query processing for spatio-temporal trajectories of moving objects. The spatio-temporal trajectory model of moving objects has point type spatial data for storing locations and timestamp type temporal data for time. A trajectory query is a query to search for pairs of users who have been in close contact by boarding the same bus. To process the trajectory query, I use the Geolife dataset provided by Microsoft. The proposed trajectory query processing method divides trajectory data by date and checks whether users' trajectories were nearby for each date to generate information about contacts as the result.

  • Photogrammetry is a current method of GIS data acquisition. However, as a matter of fact, a large manpower and expenditure for making detailed 3D spatial information is required especially in urban areas where various buildings exist. There are no photogrammetric systems which can automate a process of spatial information acquisition completely. On the other hand, LiDAR has high potential of automating 3D spatial data acquisition because it can directly measure 3D coordinates of objects, but it is rather difficult to recognize the object with only LiDAR data, for its low resolution at this moment. With this background, we believe that it is very advantageous to integrate LiDAR data and stereo CCD images for more efficient and automated acquisition of the 3D spatial data with higher resolution. In this research, the automatic urban object recognition methodology was proposed by integrating ultra highresolution stereo images and LiDAR data. Moreover, a method to enable more reliable and detailed stereo matching method for CCD images was examined by using LiDAR data as an initial 3D data to determine the search range and to detect possibility of occlusions. Finally, intellectual DSMs, which were identified urban features with high resolution, were generated with high speed processing.

  • Spatial data mining, i.e., discovery of interesting characteristics and patterns that may implicitly exists in spatial databases, is a challenging task due to the huge amounts of spatial data. Clustering algorithms are attractive for the task of class identification in spatial databases. Several methods for spatial clustering have been presented in recent years, but have the following several drawbacks increase costs due to computing distance among objects and process only memory-resident data. In this paper, we propose an efficient grid cell based spatial clustering method for spatial data mining. It focuses on resolving disadvantages of existing clustering algorithms. In details, it aims to reduce cost further for good efficiency on large databases. To do this, we devise a spatial clustering algorithm based on grid ceil structures including cell relationships.

  • Recently, policy of the marine advanced countries were switched from the preemption using ocean to post-project development. In this study, we suggest improvement and the pending issues when are deducted to the database of the marine spatial information is constructed over the GIS system for the Korean Marine Spatial Planning (KMSP). More than 250 spatial information in the seas of Korea were processed in order of data collection, GIS transformation, data analysis and processing, data grouping, and space mapping. It's process had some problem occurred to error of coordinate system, digitizing process for lack of the spatial information, performed by overlapping for the original marine spatial information, and so on. Moreover, solution is needed to data processing methods excluding personal information which is necessary when produce the spatial data for analysis of the used marine status and minimized method for different between the spatial information based GIS system and the based real information. Therefore, collection and securing system of lacking marine spatial information is enhanced for marine spatial planning. it is necessary to link and expand marine fisheries survey system. It is needed to the marine spatial planning. The marine spatial planning is required to the evaluation index of marine spatial and detailed marine spatial map. In addition, Marine spatial planning is needed to standard guideline and system of quality management. This standard guideline generate to phase for production, processing, analysis, and utilization. Also, the quality management system improve for the information quality of marine spatial information. Finally, we suggest necessity need for the depths study which is considered as opening extension of the marine spatial information and deduction on application model.
