This study was designed to investigated children's spatial cognitive skills as based on their practice with computer games. The sixty children were divided into 3 groups there were twenty children in experimental group 1 (the geometric game experimental group), twenty children in experimental group 2 (the arcade game experimental group), and twenty children in the control group. The sSpatial cognitive skills of the children were assessed according to by visual speed, mental rotation, and spatial visualization tasks. The rResults showed that computer game practice enhanced the children's spatial skills (visual speed, mental rotation and, spatial visualization). The c Children's mental rotation and spatial visualization showed a significant difference with the type of computer game.
This study was designed to investigate the relation between perspective-taking skills and communication abilities of young children. The major purposes of this study were to study the relation between perspective-taking skills and communication abilities, to investigate the relation perspective-taking skills and communication abilities with differing listeners, to investigate sex differences in communication abilities within the higher group the perspective-taking skills with differing listeners, and to determine differences between the sexes in communication abilities within the higher group of perspective-taking skills in different situational conditions. Sixty kindergarteners (30 boys and 30 girls) were tested on their perspective taking abilities and divided into two groups, the higher and the lower groups. Five instruments were used in this study: spatial, affective and cognitive perspective-taking tests, expression-ability test, and a communication ability test. The collected data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson's r, point biserial coefficient correlations (rpb), t-test, and three-way analyses of variance with one factor repeated measurement. There were significant relations between spatial, cognitive perspective-taking skills and kindergartener's communication abilities. There were no significant differences in communication abilities in differing listeners and situational conditions. In the group whose level of perspective taking-skills was high, differences between the sexes were found in spatial, and affective perspective-taking skills, only in case of differing listeners.
Melody is defined as adding spatial dimension to the rhythm which is temporal concept. Being able to understand melodic pattern and to reproduce the pattern also requires cognitive skills. Since 1980, there has been much research on the relationship between academic skills and music cognitive skills, and how to transfer the skills learned in music work to the academic learning. The study purported to examine various research outcomes dealing with the correlational and causal relationships between musical and academic skills. The two dominating theories explaining the connection between two skills ares are "neural theory" and "near transfer theory." The theories focus mainly on the transference of spatial and temporal reasoning which are reinforced in the musical learning. The study reviewed the existing meta-analysis studies, which provided evidence for positive correlation between academic and musical skills, and significance of musical learning in academic skills. The study further examined specific skills area that musical learning is correlated, such as mathematics and reading. The research stated that among many mathematical concepts, proportional topics have the strongest correlation with musical skills. Also with reading, temporal processing also has strong relationship with auditory skills and motor skills, and further affect language and literacy ability. The study suggest that skills learned in the musical work can be transferred to other areas of learning and structured music activities may be every efficient for children for facilitating academic concepts.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between the learning styles and science process skills of students of the gifted class in elementary school. Subjects were forty-eight students of the gifted class who are in the fifth grade studying at the gifted class of S elementary school in Bucheon, M and Y elementary school in Incheon on learning styles and science process skills of students. Learning Style Profile (LSP) was used as instrument to survey learning style of students of the gifted class which was developed by NASSP, and consists of four categories (cognitive skills, perceptual response, orientation and teaming preferences) and twenty-four subscales. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In the learning styles test, students of the gifted class have higher scores of spatial skill, sequential processing skill, persistence orientation, manipulative preference, temperature preference and afternoon preference than general class students, but they have lower scores of discrimination skill and lighting preference, and there were statistically significant difference. 2. In science process skills test, there were statistically significant difference between students of the gifted class and general students. 3. In the correlation between the learning styles and science process skills, there was positive correlation of observing skill with spatial skill and manipulate skill of cognitive skill domain. For classifying skill, there was positive correlation with visual perceptual response, but was negative correlations with auditory and emotive perceptual response of perceptual response domain and with evening preference and verbal risk orientation of study preference domain. For measuring skill, there was positive correlation with sequential processing skill of cognitive skill domain. For formulating hypotheses, there was controlling variables, there was positive correlation with sequential processing skill and simultaneous processing skill of cognitive skill domain, and with verbal-spatial preference and early morning study preference of study preference domain. When planning and managing the gifted class, it will be beneficial and effective to consider the meaningful relations between the elements of loaming style and science process skills in order to improve science process skills.
Being engaged in the musical tasks needs cognitive skills to perceive musical sound, organize them into meaningful unit, store them in the memory and retrieve them when needed. These skills are also required for academic tasks indicating that there is positive correlation between skills for musical and academic tasks. Based on these findings, the study purported to examine whether the developed sessions can enhance cognitive skills which is composed of auditory information skills, which is composed of perceiving sounds, organizing them into groups based on the existing information or organization pattern, and short-term memory skills. Eighteen elementary students in 4, 5, and 6th grades have participated in the study. The study has administered Music Cognitive Skills Test(MCST) before and after implementing music therapy sessions. The MCST consisted of five parts, first one measuring the rhythm imitating skills, second, measuring the melodic imitation skills, third, measuring discriminative skills in identifying higher pitch, fourth, measuring discriminative skills in identifying identical chords, and lastly, measuring the tone retention skills. The results indicated that there was statistical difference between the pre and post test in rhythm and melody imitation skills. Because reproduction of perceived rhythm patterns requires memory skills, imitating patterns are considered cognitive skills. Also melody is defined adding spatial dimension to the rhythm which is temporal concept. Being able to understand melodic pattern and to reproduce the pattern also requires cognitive skills. The subjects have shown significant improvement in these two areas. In other areas, there were definite increase of scores, however, no significant differences. The study also explores interpretation of these results and also observed consistencies among the participants in completing the musical tasks.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analysis of effectiveness between cognitive function assessment scores and gaming cognitive rehabilitation system in children with intellectual impairment. Methods: Five children (male=5, $age=10.00{\pm}0.80$) with intellectual impairment participated in this study and were randomly assigned to the experiment that played (received) gaming cognitive rehabilitation system (Neuroworld). The children were applied 2 times a week for 30 minutes during 3 months. The children were assessed K-WSIC-VI (Korean-Wechsler intelligence scale for children-fourth edition) and recorded that gained score in gaming cognitive rehabilitation system before and after intervention. K-WSIC-VI contained five primary index scores: verbal comprehension index, visual spatial index, fluid reasoning index, working memory index, and processing speed index. Gaming cognitive rehabilitation system scoring was composed visual recall, target recall, sequence recall, selective attention, continuous attention, and exploration. Results: In the intelligence quotient (IQ) of K-WSIC-VI, there were significant increased in all children. The visual recall item was highest effective in all children. However, sequential recall showed the lowest improvement in all children. The performance speed of selective attention item was decreased, this means that children's skills have improved. Also, their ability to explore has improved significantly. Conclusion: In conclusion, gaming cognitive rehabilitation system was significant effectiveness in cognitive function in some categories for children with intellectual impairment. However, the visual recall and performance speed don't represent of all cognitive function. Therefore, further studies will need to verify by applying more subject and longer duration.

Virtual world technology is driving major advances in education, entertainment, and professional training. Metaverse and extended reality (XR) technologies maximize immersion to enhance learning, provide global learning environments, and expose students to situations that are difficult to experience in real life. Career exploration is an important developmental task in adolescence, and virtual training maximizes learning by providing life-like experiences with imagery training. Virtual training overcomes spatial, financial, performance, and situational constraints and is effective in a variety of fields, including military and disaster training. It provides customized learning for various users such as youth, job seekers, and people with disabilities, deepening their understanding of professional activities and improving their problem-solving skills. It also improves the quality of learning through repetitive learning and contributes to the improvement of teamwork and communication skills, and helps to solve financial problems by using unlimited internal resources and space in virtual space, and enables people with disabilities to perform in various professions. This paper investigated the value of virtual training as a comprehensive educational tool through an economical and efficient learning experience.
The purpose of this study was to develop the method of distinction for sports gifted children, which evaluated as well as cognitive capability and physical fitness. For the validation verification of developed method, we measured physique, physical fitness and developed cognitive agility method for 369 children from 2nd grade to 6th grade. Results were followed as below: The frequency of success of sports gifted group was higher than normal group(p<.05). Total time for cognitive agility of gifted child's group in both sex were shorter than normal group(p<.05). There were no significant correlation between physique and cognitive agility time. 50m run and side step test had correlation with cognitive agility time in boys and girls(p<.05). In spatial skills, only higher tendency in sports gifted group showed. Cognitive agility had positive correlation with space perception in both boys and girls of upper grades. With theses results, we concluded that developed cognitive agility test might be synthetic evaluated method for cognitive agility as qualitative capacity for boys and girls in elementary school.

Objective : The purpose of study was to verify the clinical effect of a Korean Computer-based cognitive rehabilitation program(called CoTras) for recovering the visual perception function and ADL in stroke. Methods : A CBCRT was applied to 14 Stoke patients who rehabilitation professional medical treatment hospital. All participant were evaluated with four standardized assessment tolls(Motor-Free Visual Perception Test; MVPT, Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination; MMSE-K, Assesment of Motor and Process Skills: AMPS) before and after the planned computer based cognitive rehabilitation sessions. Results : A significant effect was confirmed (p<.05) from the CBCRT which visual perception function. By each entry comparative result, visual memory, figure ground, visual close, spatial relation, visual discrimination, were the order of treatment. Neither was found any significant effect in improving process skills from AMPS. Conclusion : These results indicate that CoTras have effects on improving visual perception and ADL performance in stroke patients. Will be able to present with the fundamental data CoTras will be able to contribute to increase visual perception function & ADL performance to the stroke patient who has visual perception dysfunction.
Analogical thinking is a problem-solving strategy to use a familiar problem (or base analog) to solve a novel problem of the same type (the target problem). The purpose of this study is to provide new insight into geography teaching and learning by connecting cognitive science research on analogical thinking with issues of geography education and suggest that teaching with analogies can be a productive instructional strategy for geography. In this study, using the various examples of analogical thinking used in geography we defined analogical thinking, addressed the theoretical models on analogical transfer, and discussed conditions that make an effective analogical transfer. The major research findings include the following: a) the spatial analogy, indicating skills to find places that may be far apart but have similar locations, and therefore have other similar conditions and/or connections, can provide a useful way to design contents for place learning; b) representational transfer, specifying a common representation for two problems, can play a key role in solving geographic problems requiring data visualization and spatialization processes; and c) either asking learners to compare/analyze similar examples sharing common structure or providing them examples bridging the gap between concrete, real-life phenomena and the ideas and models can contribute to learning in geographic concepts and skills. The spatial analogy requiring both geographic content knowledge and visual/spatial thinking has the potential to become a content-specific problem-solving strategy. We ended with recommendations for future research on analogy that is important in geography education.
