A New Pivot Algorithm for Star Identification

  • In this study, a star identification algorithm which utilizes pivot patterns instead of apparent magnitude information was developed. The new star identification algorithm consists of two steps of recognition process. In the first step, the brightest star in a sensor image is identified using the orientation of brightness between two stars as recognition information. In the second step, cell indexes are used as new recognition information to identify dimmer stars, which are derived from the brightest star already identified. If we use the cell index information, we can search over limited portion of the star catalogue database, which enables the faster identification of dimmer stars. The new pivot algorithm does not require calibrations on the apparent magnitude of a star but it shows robust characteristics on the errors of apparent magnitude compared to conventional pivot algorithms which require the apparent magnitude information.

  • This paper propose a statistical color model of background extraction base on Hue-Saturation-Value(HSV) color space, instead of the traditional RGB space, and shows that it provides a better use of the color information. HSV color space corresponds closely to the human perception of color and it has revealed more accuracy to distinguish shadows [3] [4]. The key feature of this segmentation method is based on processing hue component of color in HSV color space on image area. The HSV color model is used, its color components are efficiently analyzed and treated separately so that the proposed algorithm can adapt to different environmental illumination condition and shadows. Polar and linear statistical operations are used to calculate the background from the video frames. The experimental results show that the proposed background subtraction method can automatically segment video objects robustly and accurately in various illuminating and shadow environments.

지하안전관리 지원을 위한 3차원 지반정보 구축 방안 연구 (A Study on the Construction Plan of 3D Geotechnical Information for the Support of Underground Space Safety)

  • 최근 대도심지를 중심으로 지반침하, 지반함몰 등 지하공간에서의 안전사고가 빈번히 발생하고 있다. 이에 정부차원에서의 다양한 대응방안을 마련하고 있으며, 이의 일환으로 지하공간통합지도 구축을 추진 중에 있다. 3차원 지반정보는 지하공간통합지도의 핵심 구성요소이며, "지하안전관리에 관한 특별법"에 따라 의무화된 지하안전영향평가의 주요 데이터로 활용된다. 3차원 지반정보의 구축 방법은 지하공간통합지도 구축 기본계획 수립 시 도출되고 국토지반정보 통합DB센터에서 지속적인 구축을 추진하고 있으나, 정확성, 효율성, 활용성을 고려한 구체적인 방안 도출이 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 지하안전관리 지원을 위해 3차원 지반정보의 정확성, 활용성, 구축 효율성을 고려한 구축 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국토지반정보 포털시스템에서 보유한 시추정보와 지반정보 구축 소프트웨어인 MVS, MakeJiban을 활용하여 표고와 지층 기반의 구축 높이 정확도를 비교하였다. 종합적인 분석결과 정확성, 활용성, 효율성 측면에서 원표고 기반의 전체 지층 일괄 구축이 가장 적합한 것으로 판단되었다. 향후, 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 일괄성 있는 3차원 지반정보 구축을 추진할 계획이다.

IndoorGML을 활용한 실내공간 멀티미디어 위치 인코딩 방법 (Geocoding Scheme for Multimedia in Indoor Space Based on IndoorGML)

  • 대부분의 멀티미디어 데이터는 위치정보를 가지고 있다. 따라서 각 멀티미디어 데이터에 적절한 위치정보를 추가하면, 다양한 용도로 활용이 가능하다. 특히 멀티미디어의 위치검색이 다양한 검색조건으로 제공될 수 있다. 지금까지 멀티미디어의 위치는 주로 실외공간의 (x, y, z) 좌표공간을 기반으로 정의된다. 최근 실내공간 정보기술이 발달하면서 실외뿐 아니라, 실내공간에서도 다양한 위치기반 서비스가 가능하며, 멀티미디어의 실내공간 안에서의 위치를 정의할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 실내공간의 위치는 실외공간의 위치참조체계와 다르다. 예를 들어, 실내공간에서 위치를 지정할 때는 좌표를 이용하지 않고, 층과 방의 번호를 이용한다. 방 번호와 같은 기호를 이용하여 위치를 지정하는 공간을 기호공간이라고 한다. 본 논문에서는 기호공간을 기반으로 실내공간에서 만들어진 멀티미디어 자료의 위치를 지정하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 특히 현재 진행 중인 OGC의 실내공간정보 표준인 IndoorGML에서 제시하는 데이터모델을 이용한다. 따라서 본 방법은 실내공간에서 만들어진 멀티미디어의 위치를 효과적으로 표현하며, 동시에 여러 시스템이나 서비스간의 호환성을 높이는데 유용하다.

Space Weather Monitoring System for Geostationary Satellites and Polar Routes

  • We have developed solar and space weather monitoring system for space weather users since 2007 as a project named 'Construction of Korea Space Weather Prediction Center'. In this presentation we will introduce space weather monitoring system for Geostationary Satellites and Polar Routes. These were developed for satisfying demands of space weather user groups. 'Space Weather Monitoring System for Geostationary Satellites' displays integrated space weather information on geostationary orbit such as magnetopause location, nowcast and forecast of space weather, cosmic ray count rate, number of meteors and x-ray solar flux. This system is developed for space weather customers who are managing satellite systems or using satellite information. In addition, this system provides space weather warning by SMS in which short message is delivered to users' cell phones when space weather parameters reach a critical value. 'Space Weather Monitoring System for Polar Routes' was developed for the commercial airline companies operating polar routes. This provides D-region and polar cap absorption map, aurora and radiation particle distribution, nowcast and forecast of space weather, proton flux, Kp index and so on.

Semi-supervised Multi-view Manifold Discriminant Intact Space Learning

  • Semi-supervised multi-view latent space learning is gaining considerable popularity recently in many machine learning applications due to the high cost and difficulty to obtain the large amount of label information of data. Although some semi-supervised multi-view latent space learning methods have been presented, there is still much space for improvement: 1) How to learn latent discriminant intact feature representations by employing data of multiple views; 2) How to exploit the manifold structure of both labeled and unlabeled point in the learned latent intact space effectively. To address the above issues, we propose an approach called semi-supervised multi-view manifold discriminant intact space learning ($SM^2DIS$) for image classification in this paper. $SM^2DIS$ aims to seek a manifold discriminant intact space for data of different views by making use of both the discriminant information of labeled data and the manifold structure of both labeled and unlabeled data. Experimental results on MNIST, COIL-20, Multi-PIE, and Caltech-101 databases demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our proposed approach.

Active Learning Environment for the Heritage of Korean Modern Architecture: a Blended-Space Approach

  • This research proposes the composition logic of an Active Learning Environment (ALE), to enable discovery by learning through experience, whilst increasing knowledge about modern architectural heritage. Linking information to the historical heritage using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) helps to overcome the limits of previous learning methods, by providing rich learning resources on site. Existing field trips of cultural heritages are created to impart limited experience content from web resources, or receive content at a specific place through humanities Geographic Information System (GIS). Therefore, on the basis of the blended space theory, an augmented space experience method for overcoming these shortages was composed. An ALE space framework is proposed to enable discovery through learning in an expanded space. The operation of ALE space is needed to create full coordination, such as a Content Management System (CMS). It involves a relation network to provide knowledge to the rule engine of the CMS. The application is represented with the Deoksugung Palace Seokjojeon hall example, by describing a user experience scenario.

공간지각에 있어 잉여정보의 의미와 분석 - NOX의 공간을 중심으로- (The Concept and Analysis of Redundant Information in Space Perception - Focused on the Works of NOX -)

  • According to critics and architects, non-linear structure is not only an organic form of space, but also a form of space detached from modem style. Accordingly, non-linear structure can be accepted as an alternative to what has remained unsolved by deconstructionist. However, they are criticized for not clarifying the interdependent relationship between non-linearity of space and cognitive structure of human being. They ended up remaining the hypothesis just an intuitive and abstract one. This research began on the basis that their hypothesis is hard to be objectified, and it needs further inquiry. The purpose of this thesis is to explore how the redundant factors constitute non-linear structures of digital media centered space design. Geometric compositions of space structure were analyzed to define what types of redundant factors are contrived in the process of visual information. This study about the visual form, researching the Information Theory, and then offer a quantitative analysis that makes those more objective. Space structure and geometric composition were analyzed to define what types of redundancy are contrived in the process of visual information. In particular, I put higher theoretical emphasis on what characteristics are ensued in the process of structuring spaces than any other subjects. Followings are the conclusion of analysis. First, as a result of examining, we can assume that NOX' space structure is not a chaotic form, but has an operating the form of its own. Second, in case of curvilinear, the structure was found redundancy on mid deviation ratio and discontinuous circular fabric. Although most of their structures appeared complex with a higher coherent constant, they were found to be stable factors because of the low deviation ratio between systems. The amount of surplus information was stable structure as well.

공간구문론과 전문가시스템을 활용한 BIM 공간배치 최적화 방안 (BIM Space Layout Optimization by Space Syntax and Expert System)

  • As building space constitution and layout are critical for satisfying the building owner and users, their optimization is so important in the design process. However it's not always simple to set up objective criteria for the space layout optimization for different requirements and the architects mostly depend on their own experience for these. This study is to suggest a way to make up for this issue by referencing and deducing the space layout based on the given BIM space information and existing knowledge. For this purpose, the Space Syntax is applied to extract the information from a space model and an Expert System is used to make the best use of the relevant knowledge. Based on the Integration indexes for all the spaces, we could compare the space layout alternatives and determine the best selection for different accessibility conditions.

전시 환경의 증강현실을 이용한 정보제공&학습 시스템 (Information provide and learning system using augmented reality of exhibition environment)

  • 본 연구에서는 전시(박물관, 공연) 환경에서 증강현실을 이용한 정보제공 및 학습 시스템을 제안한다. 일반적인 전시 공간에서는 그림이나 사진에 대한 설명을 인쇄물이나 공간에 설치(설명 공간) 형태의 정보를 제공하거나 '오디오 가이드'나 '도슨트' 프로그램을 이용한 보조 설명이 이루어진다. 증강현실 기술이 이러한 방식을 융합한 형태로 전시 공간에 적용되어 전시에 대한 설명이 텍스트, 이미지, 오디오 그리고 영상의 형태로 다양하게 사용자에게 제공하여 입체적인 정보제공 및 학습을 도와준다. 우리는 특정 전시 공간에서 증강현실 기술을 적용하여 그림에 대한 영상 설명을 이용한 정보제공 및 학습의 도구로 활용하고자 한다.
