PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CORONAL REGION DRIVING OUT THE INTERPLANETARY SHOCK (행성간 충격파 발생 코로나 영역의 물리적 특성)

  • Using the solar wind data of 2000 observed by ACE, We classified the interplanetary shock on basis of shock driver. We examined the physical properties of shock drivers such as the ratio of charge states(O7/O6) and thermal index$(I_{th})$. Most of 51 interplanetary shocks are driven by interplanetary coronal mass ejections(ICME; magnetic cloud and ejecta) and high speed streams. According to the test of temperature(O7/O6) and $I_{th}$, we found that ICMEs originated from region with hot source in corona.

  • This paper implements dual-kernel system using standard Linux and real-time embedded Linux for the real-time control of intelligent robot systems. Such system provides more useful services including standard Linux thread that is easy to implement complicated tasks and real-time tasks for the deterministic response to velocity control. Here, an open source real-time embedded Linux, XENOMAI, is ported on embedded target board. And for interfacing with motor controller we adopted a real-time serial device driver. The real-time task was implemented with a priority to keep the cyclic control command for trajectory control. In order to validate deterministic response of the proposed system, the performance measurement of the delay in performing trajectory control with feedback loop is evaluated with non real-time standard Linux. The proposed software architecture is anticipated to take advantage of features in both standard Linux and real-time operating systems for the intelligent robot systems.

  • In industrialised countries, innovation is a key source of economic growth. Rrsearch is a key driver of technological innovation and involves the process of systematic investigation and/or experimentation to discover new knowledge. The Governments'industry innovation policy supports a business focus on Research and Development (R&D) through a range of programs in order to achieve these aims. The Innovation Statement (DISR 2000, 20010, launched by the Australian Prime MinisterJanuary 2001, commits an additional ${\$}$3 billion over five years to encourage and support innovation. The Australian Government aims toworld competitive firms and strong research capability in industry to strengthen Australia's international competitiveness and increase national prosperity. It develops policies and programs to enhance investment in innovation. The Australian Government has established a number of R&D funding support programs aimed at increasing the level of R&D in Australia. The backbone of these programs is the tax concession program, which is made up of the 125 per cent R&D tax concession, the 175 per cent premium tax concession and the tax offset. Over 4000 businesses take advantage of the tax concession scheme, which costs the government around ${\$}$400mi11ion a year. This cost is expected to rise to over hall a billion by 2005-06 (commonwealth or Australia, 2003). Ensuring these resources are invested where they provide significant national economic benefits is a major policy issue. In this sense, this paper looks at the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the R&D tax concession with costs and benefits analysis.

  • Using the existing analog circuits, required resistor matching and Poly-Si TFT characteristics are investigated for the implementation of analog circuits to be integrated on System-on-Glass. Matching requirements on resistor values, threshold voltage and mobility of poly-Si TFT are derived as a function of the resolution of display system. Also, the effective mobility of poly-Si TFT required for the realization of source driver is analyzed for various panel sizes.

  • The reduction of the Vehicle interior noise has been the main interest of NVH engineers. The driver's perception on the vehicle noise is affected largely by psychoacoustic characteristic of the noise as well as the SPL. In particular, the HVAC sound among the vehicle interior noise has been reflected sensitively in the side of psychology. In previous study, we have developed to verify identification of source for the vehicle HVAC system through multiple-dimensional spectral analysis. Also we carried out objective assessments on the vehicle HVAC noises and subjective assessments have been already performed with 30 subjects. In this study, the linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and the sound quality metrics. The regression procedure also allows you to produce diagnostic statistics to evaluate the regression estimates including appropriation and accuracy. Appropriation of regression model is necessary to $R^2$ value and F-value. And testing for regression model is necessary to independence, homoscedesticity and normality. Also we selected optimum layout of damping material using Taguchi method. As a result of application, sound quality is improved more quietly, powerfully, even though costly, and smoothly.

  • This paper deals with gate drive and power IC for high power devices(600V/200A and 1200V/150A). The proposed gate driver provides high gate driving capability (4 A source, 8 A sink), and over-current protected by means of power transistor desaturation detection. In addition, soft-shutdown function is added to reduce voltage overshoots due to parasitic inductance. This gate drive If is designed, fabricated, and tested using the Dongbu hitek 0.35um BCDMOS process.

  • A 120kV/70A high voltage switch has been installed at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute in Taejon to supply power with Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) system. NBI system requires fast cutoff of the power supply voltage for protection of the grid when arc detected and fast turn-on the voltage for sustaining the beam current. Therefore the high voltage switch and arc current detection circuit are important part of the NBI power supply and there are much need for high voltage solid state switches in NBI system and a broad area of applications. This switch consisted of 100 series connected MOSFETs and adopted the proposed simple and reliable gate drive circuit without bias supply, Various results taken during the commissioning phase with a 100kW resistive load and NBI source are shown. This paper presents the detailed design of 120kV/70A high voltage MOSFETs switch and simple gate drive circuit. Problems with the high voltage switch and gate driver and solutions are also presented.

  • High efficiency and low cost sustain driver for plasma display panel (PDP) with current fed is proposed. Main concept of the proposed circuit is using the current source to charge and discharge panel. As a result, all power switches can achieve the zero voltage switching (ZVS) and every auxiliary switch can also do the zero current switching (ZCS). Moreover, since the inductor current can compensate the discharge current, the current stress of all power switches can be reduced considerably. Furthermore, it has features as a simpler structure, less mass, less cost, and lower electromagnetic interference than prior circuit.

  • This paper deals with an experirrental study of a nondestructive testing system using a solenoid eddy currnet sensor to inspect deteriorations in overhead distribution lines, such as broken wires, severe local corrosion or zinc loss. Corrosion rrechanisrn for ACSR and ACSR-OC is discussed and characteristics for a solenoid sensor to insprt the georretrical pararreters of the coil and testing materials impOOance are briefly analyzed. A measurement system having a constant current source, a signal processing unit and a motor driver is impIemented. This instrument has such capabilities as detecting the sensor output and estimating dinHlsions of the testing conductors, continuously. As a result, it was shown that the eddy current sensor with an encircling coil could effectively estimate the diatreter change due to deteriorations in overhead distribution lines. lines.
