Contention-based Reservation Protocol Using a Counter for Detecting a Source Conflict in WDM Single-hop Optical Network with Non-equivalent Distance

  • We propose a new channel reservation protocol which can reduce message delay by using a counter for detection of d source conflict in a WDM single-hop network with non-equivalent propagation delay. A source convict occurs when a source node has the right to transmit more than or equal to two messages simultaneously, which are transmitted using different wavelengths. In such a case, the source node has to newly obtain the right to transmit the message. In the proposed protocol, by using a source conflict counter a source node can detect a source conflict before a wave-length assignment is performed. Therefore, the source node can start a procedure to newly obtain the right to transmit the message which cannot be transmitted due to a source conflict. We analyse the throughput performance by taking the effect of a source conflict into account, and show that the approximate analysis and the computer simulated results are close. Also, from computer simulated results, we show that our proposed protocol can reduce mean message delay dramatically without degrading throughput performance as the offered load becomes large.

여성의류 유통경로에서 의존성.권력원천.갈등 - 백화점 입점업체를 중심으로

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the women's apparel distribution channel in the well-known department stores located in the central Seoul area. Since the department store has its reputation, information and enormous buying power, it is the one of the major leading retails in the women's apparel industry. In doing so, the relationship between the channel members in terms of the level of dependence, power sources and perceived conflict and manifest conflict has been studied. Particularly, based on French and Raven's power sources, position source is added. It refers to a channel member's (Merchandizer in the department store) source over another based on the expection the former (Merchandizer in the department store) will be able to allocate the location and size of the store influencing the latter's sale and profit. The key informants are the merchandizers who work in the apparel companies contracting with major department stores. Finally, of the 284 questionnaires collected, 235 are usable. The hypotheses are tested through LISREL. The results of statistical analysis support that : Dependence has a positive effect on noncoercive bases of power. Coercive bases of power have a positive effect on manifest conflict as well as perceived conflict while noncoercive bases of power have a negative effect mainly on manifest conflict. Thus, the relation between the major department stores and the women's apparel companies in there seems to have bilateral dependence rather than highly unilateral dependence.

The Israel-Iran Conflict: Historical Background and Modern

  • The conflict between Iran and Israel has been a major source of instability and security threats in the Middle East. This study analyzes the historical background and modern aspects of the Israel-Iran conflict, examining its root causes, nuclear issues, proxy wars, cyber warfare, economic sanctions, and the role of the United States. The research employs qualitative methods, including literature review and case analysis, using various sources such as academic papers, government reports, and media articles. The findings suggest that the conflict is deeply rooted in historical, religious, and political factors, and has escalated since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The study highlights the need for dialogue, negotiation, and international mediation to resolve the conflict and maintain regional stability. The Israel-Iran conflict also provides valuable lessons for addressing the North Korean nuclear issue, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, international cooperation, and confidence-building measures.

연구개발팀에서 팀내 갈등과 팀 혁신성과간의 관계에서 팀 학습행동의 매개역할 (A Study on the Relationship between Intra-team Conflict and Team Innovative Performance and the Mediating Role of Team Learning Behaviors in R&D Teams)

  • In this era of cut-throat competition, innovation is a source of competitive advantage, and securing core competency through innovation plays a pivotal role in ensuring the survival and growth of an organization. In an organization, R&D team is a core division driving innovation, and creative tension and conflict among researchers fuels innovative performance. Despite heated debate over the positive and negative effects of conflict, insufficiently-identified process factors have left sophisticated mechanisms between conflicts and effects unaddressed. This study assumes that team learning behaviors can bean important process factor given that conflict propels learning, and that learning is a decisive factor in creating competitive advantage. This study conducted an empirical analysis of the relationship between relationship/task conflict and team innovative performance, and the mediating role of team learning behaviors using data collected from a questionnaire sent out to the heads of 262 R&D teams and second highest-ranking officials thereof. The analysis conducted based on structural equation model indicates that relationship conflict has negatively affected team learning behaviors, whereas task conflict has positively influenced team learning behaviors(full mediation effect), team learning behaviors has positively influenced team innovative performance. Based on these results, the study has suggested implications of intra-team conflict and team learning behaviors for team innovative performance.

  • The main objectives of this study are (1) to identify the conflict types in IS integration process with respect to M&A, (2) to propose the ways to manage the origin of conflict to be expected, and (3) to develop the conflict management model which establishes the relationship among the M&A strategy, the IS integration strategy and change management process that influence the source of conflict. In order to achieve these research objectives, this study focuses on banking industry under M&A with the viewpoint of change management instead of existing technology-oriented IS integration strategy. The findings of this study are thought not only to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out IS integration project under M&A but also to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of effective IS integration strategy.

Suggestions for Resolving the Social Conflict in Affordable Housing

  • The purpose of this study is to employ a method called 'conflict impact assessment' to analyze the progress, background, cause and relevant issues of conflicts related with affordable housing for youth (Happiness Housing Project), a project that has been implemented since last May 2013, thereby identifying the relevant problems and draw out objectives for improvement. The researchers expect that this study will contribute to solving the current issues regarding Happiness Housing, and contribute to improving the quality of the government's policies. For the above purpose, literatures on Happiness Housing produced from August to November 2013 were reviewed, in-depth telephone or face-to-face interviews were conducted with personnel associated with project implementation in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation and LH, etc., and major interested parties including Yangcheon-gu residents. Key issues identified regarding Happiness Housing construction include: the way that the project was implemented, living quality of residents, impact on educational environment, inconsistence with existing plans, relatively high construction cost, insolvency of public corporations, land use fee issue with Korail, need of preliminary feasibility survey, securing sufficient amount for supply and issue of additional designation, likelihood of finishing construction in time and issues related with actual source of demand, etc. Through analysis of conflict development and positions of interested parties, the main causes of the conflicts were identified as follows: lack of deliberation on pledges during election, lack of viability review on pledges, lack of conflict management plans, one-way implementation without consent of interested parties, project plans established with no regard to local circumstances, frequent project revision, underwehlming level of conflict management. In order to address issues above, the following measures need to be taken: selecting election pledges based on actual effectiveness, thorough assessment on pledges by relevant departments, gradual implementation based on consideration of the actual circumstances, participation of key interested parties, consistent policy and adopting conflict management techniques that reflect the reality.

소스 경쟁과 의제속성 의존: 스크린쿼터를 둘러싼 정부와 시민단체의 영향력 분석 (Source Competition and Dependency on Issue Attributes: Issue Competition between the Government and the Activists on the Issue of Screen Quota)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 소스 경쟁 과정에서 시민단체 소스가 정부 소스와 어떻게 경쟁하고 있으며, 언론보도에 어떠한 형태로 반영되는지 비교 분석해보는 것이다. 이와 함께 세부적인 영향 요인으로서 언론보도 이데올로기, 갈등 사안의 발전 단계가 어떻게 소스 간 경쟁에 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 설정한 연구문제에 답하기 위해 스크린쿼터를 분석의제로 삼고 언론보도, 스크린쿼터문화연대, 정부기관의 6년 3개월간 관련 문건을 내용 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 스크린쿼터와 관련한 언론보도에서 전반적으로 시민단체에 비해 정부의 중요 정의자 역할이 더 우세하다는 결론을 도출할 수 있다. 하지만 언론의 보도 이데올로기에 따라서 시민단체의 소스 역할이 증가되는 경향을 보이는 것으로 나타났으며, 스크린쿼터와 같은 사회적 논란이 많은 사건에서 시민단체의 목소리가 어느 정도 반영되고 있지만 그것이 아직 정부에 대한 소스 의존을 넘어설 정도는 아닌 것으로 드러났다. 한편 그러한 현상은 갈등이 심해질수록 뚜렷해지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 지표 이론의 예상을 뒤엎는 것이다. 세부 속성을 통한 의존 정도를 살펴보면 '가공 현상'과 '증폭 현상' 등 소스 반영 형태의 다른 특징들이 나타나기도 했다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 '소스 경쟁 이론'을 향후 실증적으로 검증하기 위한 명제들을 제시했다.

Conceptual Change via Contrasting Everyday and Scientifically Idealized Contexts

  • This article presents a theoretical model for conceptual change that relates cognitive conflict and the role of context. The model assumes that students derive alternative conceptions from everyday contexts while scientific concepts presume an idealized context, and hence, that the source of cognitive conflict results from the difference between the two contexts. Test results and analysis of the model are presented by applying it in a class studying the inertial motion of bodies. The subjects are 37 seventh grade boys.

대인 갈등 조정의 서사적 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Narrative Conflict Mediation in Interpersonal Conflict Situations)

  • 본 연구는 대인 갈등의 특징을 분석하고, 갈등 조정의 서사가 어떠한 특징을 지니고 구성되며, 조정 과정을 거치면서 어떠한 해체 과정을 통해 대안적 이야기로 변화되는지를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 과정에서 갈등조정가가 동원하는 커뮤니케이션 기법을 중심으로 수행하는 역할을 밝히려는 것도 또 다른 연구의 목적이 된다. 본 연구를 통해서 포스트모던 이론의 하나인 사회구성주의 관점의 서사적 갈등 조정의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이야기 구성을 통해 이루어지는 서사적 갈등 조정은 과거의 경험에 대해서 심리 중심으로 접근하는 갈등에 대한 치료적 방식과 함께 미래에 대한 대안을 행위 중심으로 접근한다. 특히 갈등의 문제를 대화로 연결하고, 갈등과 문제의 의미를 공동으로 창조하여 발전시켜 나가는 체계로서의 서사 조정은 인간의 주체성과 갈등의 고유성을 전제하면서 새로운 변화를 추구한다. 이러한 지점이 갈등을 커뮤니케이션의 관점에서 접근해야 한다는 주장에 정당성을 부여한다. 특히 이 과정에서 다양한 커뮤니케이션 기법들이 갈등 조정에 결정적인 효력을 발휘하고 있다는 것은 갈등 현장에서의 조정 전문 분야 중의 하나로 커뮤니케이션학을 정립할 수 있는 핵심적 근거가 될 것으로 예상된다.

맞벌이 기혼남성의 일-가정 균형의 주관적 인식 및 갈등정도와 가정의 건강성 인식 (A Study on the subjective cognition and conflict degree of work-family balance and family strength of a dual career men)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effective factors that influence subjective cognition, conflict degree of work-family balance, and cognition of family strength according to general characteristic factors, working environmental factors, and home environmental factors, as well as analyze the relationships among subjective cognition, conflict degree, and cognition of family strength. The main data source for analysis in this study is the Second National Survey of Korean Families by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2010. The survey includes the analysis of 419 respondents who have a dual income and live with their wife. The collected data are analyzed using SPSS 19.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, subjective cognition of work-family balance is influenced by satisfaction of work, division of housework, and care of family. Second, the conflict degree of work-family balance is influenced by age, working week, and satisfaction with work. Third, the relationship between subjective cognition and conflict degree of work-family balance is a negative correlation. The relationship between subjective cognition of work-family balance and cognition of family strength is a positive correlation but the difference between conflict degree of work-family balance and cognition of family strength is not significant. Finally, for the married men, the working environmental factor is a significant factor for the work-family balance. And the higher the satisfaction of work and division of domestic work, the greater is the balance between work and family. This suggests that they also have a higher cognition of family strength.
