승용차 내부소음의 음질평가 실험연구 (Experimental Study on Subjective Evaluation of Car Interior Sound Quality)

  • This study is directed toward determining the number and characteristics of psychologically meaningful perceptual dimensions required for assessing the sound Ouaiity with respect to vehicle interior and/or exterior noises. and toward identifying the acoustical or psychoacoustical bases underlying the perception. By nonmetric MDS and clustring analysis of sound quality data sets on our own, of critical importance are two perceptual dimensions for which subjective verdicts can be interpreted as loudness and sharpness. The perceptual dimensions based upon similarity judgments could be accounted for 48% and 24% of the variance. each of which might be a match for the acoustic parameter "A-weighted maximum pressure level"(r= .85) and for the psychoacoustic parameter "sharpness" (r= .65), respectively. On the other hand, the perceptual dimensions based upon preference ratings could explain 66% and 10% of the variance. where the acoustic parameter "A-weighted maximum pressure leve"(r= .92) might be taken to be a best predictor, but sharpness appeared to be less suitable for the description of Preference behavior. Linked to the results, the problems of quantitative modelling of subjective sound quality evaluation and also of implementing corresponding cognitive combination rule for technical and industrial applications, say having "winner-sound qualify" according to preference criteria will be shortly in discussion.

  • In case of the Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo operating for Waterpower Generation, it makes very huge and loud noises, and it influences bad effect physically as same as mentally to those people who are working inside of power plant, and brings the decline of an effective working efficiency. However, its evaluation method or measure about such noise reflects merely its physical attribute which is sensuous Loudness of the Noise itself, since the accumulation effect of Noise or the meaning connected with psychological response did not reflect, it is the actual state that a rational evaluation is unable to expect. Consequently, this Study has attempted to evaluate the Noise of Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo by analyzing the sound quality using Zwicker‘s Psychological Acoustic Parameter, after classification by its positions of the Noise occurring at Hydraulic Turbine Dynamo.

  • In the study, it is considered sporty car as 1400cc entry cars using sound generator. These cars are required special sound quality, also sporty sound quality. The operational principle of this sound generator system is that on the operation of the engine intake valves caused pulsating is to shake the membrane of the sound generator on the inside of the driver front dash panel through the intake manifold, which will deliver the required sound quality and tone. For the component constructed sound generator, main design parameters are selected and optimized using the daguchi's method. The results are as follows; The C2 sound level must be minimized and C4 level must be maximized. And also overall level keeps linear characteristics.

  • When we evaluate sound, there are various methods for noise such as A-weighted SPL(sound pressure level), NC(noise criteria), NR(noise rating) and SIL(speech interference level) etc. however, it is not sufficient for the sounds supplied to public places used in soundscape design. Consequently it is needed to develop the tool for evaluating the good acoustical environment and futhermore quantifying the effect of improvement by supplying sound sources. In this study, it was tried to analyse the sound sources applied for soundscape design using sound quality parameters. The sound sources used were natural sound artificial sound. For the sound quality parameters, Loudness(L), Sharpness(S), Fluctuation strength(FL), Tonality(T), Roughness(R), Unbiased Annoyance(UA) were used and sound quality values were compared both natural and artificial sounds, depending on the convolution of sound sources with background noise, the duration, the frequency contents and the SPL. As a result, the values of L and UA have shown to be changed comparing to the other parameters, and it is necessary to analyse the correlation with subjects' responses.

  • In automotive engineering, the brand sound is one of the important advantage strategy in a car company. For the design of brand sound, the selection of descriptive word for a car sound is one of major works in automotive sound quality research. In paper, booming sound and rumbling sound, which are professional words used by NVH engineers are used for the design of brand sound. We employed sound metrics which are the subjective parameter used in psychoacoustics. According to most research results, the relationship between subjective evaluations and sound metrics has nonlinear characteristics and is very complex. In order to link these subjective evaluations to sound metrics, the artificial neural network technology has been applied to two-dimensional sound quality index for a passenger car. These indexes is used for 46 passenger cars, which are samples of famous cars in the world. Also the preference in car sounds is evaluated by the trained NVH engineers. We coupled this preference with booming and rumbling sounds by using artificial neural network. In future, the two -dimensional sound index and preference index are very useful fur the development of brand sound in passenger cars.

소형 터보홴 설계인자와 음질의 상관관계에 의한 설계 최적화 (Design Optimization by the Correlation between the Design Parameter and the Sound Quality of Small Turbo-fan)

  • The state-of-the-art of low-noise fan design usually includes the consideration of optimal sound level and sound quality. The influential design parameters of the noise level by the centrifugal fan were selected based on the preliminary test. The centrifugal fans were designed according to the experiment plan method by specifying the selected design parameters. The experiment with these machined mock-up's of centrifugal impellers suggested the major design parameters among many, having impacts upon the indices of sound quality (e.g. loudness, sharpness, roughness and fluctuation strength) at the same operation point. With the response surface method, the major design parameters selected thereafter were analyzed to estimate each contribution upon the sound quality of the centrifugal fan, and the optimal values were drawn by the consideration of the sound quality levels and their regression equations. In addition, the validity of the regression equations was numerically verified by means of the coefficient of determination. Furthermore, the mechanism by which the centrifugal fan impeller influences the determinants of its sound quality was suggested.

청감실험을 통한 도시철도 승강장 소음의 성가심 반응에 대한 연구 (Study on the annoyance response of subway station noise using jury evaluation test)

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal the quantitative dose-response relationship between the noise emitted in the platform of subway station and the public response. The noise measured in the platform of subway station was used for a jury test. In order to find the factors which influence annoyance response due to the platform noise, jurors were examined for the difference of the annoying response, interrelation of sound quality parameter and annoyance response. The platform noise level was 77.2$\sim$83.9 dBA and the most of passengers at the platform were highly annoyed. And screen door contributes to annoyance reduction of platform noise. The results from analyzing sound quality parameters shows that loudness and annoyance response have a high correlation coefficient.
