능동형 음장조정시스템의 현장적용 평가 (Evaluation on the Field Application of Spontaneous Acoustic Field Reproduction System)

  • A began of this study is to verify Spontaneous Acoustic Field Reproduction System(SAFRS), developed as an embodiment of creating agreeable sound environment, with evaluation on the field application. SAFRS is a system to sense changes of surroundings and produce sounds, which can go well with environment elements sensed by the system in to the space. The sound which can go well with environment elements is sound which judged by individual evaluation to be so, the classification of the preferred sounds according to the mood of the space was suggested in the former study. So, SAFRS was applied into the Square of D University to evaluate effectiveness of the system. The executed evaluations were 1) evaluation on sounds perception, frequency, volume and matchability with the space, 2) image evaluation on the square and sound environment and 3) evaluation on sound environment with existing sounds, fountains sound, sound produced by SAFRS, and both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS. Verifying SAPRS of field application was deduced from those evaluations. Theresultsofthestudyarefollowing: Though the system was applied into the space, the volume of the sounds shouldn't be too high. And with visual surroundings, the effectiveness of the system would be increased. At the results of four evaluations, the result of day evaluation is; both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS>fountains sound>sound produced by SAFRS>existing sounds, the result of night evaluation is; sound produced by SAFRS>both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS>fountains sound>existing sounds and these results pointed out that sounds environment produced by the system was highly evaluated due to less background sounds.

우리나라의 소리환경 보전의 의의와 방향 - 일본의 소리풍경 100선과의 비교를 중심으로 - (The Significance and Direction on the Preservation of Sound Environment in Korea - Focused on the Comparison of 100 Soundscapes of Japan -)

  • The aim of this study is to search for the meaning and direction of sound environment preservation in Korea through the concept of soundscape. In order to achieve the goals, it was analyzed the similarities and differences on the contents of "100 The beautiful sounds of Korea - 1999" and "100 Soundscapes of Japan - 1996" in view of the intents of selection, the process of selection, and the construction of the results. The result show that there are the both similarities and differences on the intent and the process of selection, types and extent of sound samples, interactions among human-sound environment-region, the identities of the regions as well as the recognized sound environment. Also, the result shows that it is very important to preserve ecological, social, and cultural sound environment of the region. In order to practice this ideology of soundscape in Korea, there is a necessity for converting people's consciousness and participating voluntary residents' movement.

Development of Sound Design Strategies for Promoting Self-regulated Learning Behaviors in Mobile Learning Environments

  • Students mostly precede their learning without any direct support of instructor in e-learning and mobile educational environment. Many useful strategies and tools to facilitate self-regulated learning behaviors in e-learning environment have been introduced, yet, the limit has been reached by only suggesting self-regulated strategies with visual information in the most researches. Accordingly, this research is intent to propose the sound design strategies that facilitate learner's self-regulated learning behaviors in mobile learning environment. To achieve the objective of the research, two research questions are presented. First, what are the sound design strategies that facilitate the self -regulated learning behaviors in mobile learning environment?. Second, what are the results of evaluating the developed sound design strategies in terms of facilitating self-regulated learning behaviors?. To solve these research questions, the literature reviews on characteristics of mobile learning, concepts and features of self-regulated learning and sound were done to establish the sound design strategies. Through formative research method targeting instructional designers, sound design strategies were modified and supplemented. The research to validate these was performed and to verify the effect of the derived sound design strategies, the usability test aimed at instructional designer and learners was conducted. The final sound design strategies through this research process were six general design strategies and the sixteen detailed strategies. This research is meaningful because this offers the basic research on sound information design which has been lacking and help upgrade the upper limit of instructional design which mainly focused on visual information in mobile learning environment that shows information in a small screen.

사운드스케이프 디자인을 위한 인사동 전통문화의 거리의 음환경 특성에 관한 연구 (A Survey on the Sound Environment for Soundscape Design in the Street around Insa-Dong)

  • There are many attempts to make more comfortable amenity in city districts and streets to provide a soundscape design. And the sound which reflects the culture and peculiarity of characterized the street must be preserved. Thus these attempts are recognized as another noise control to give the suitable environmental sound, not to reduce noise level. This study aims to analyze the behavior of the pedestrian and sound environment of the street sound, by measuring the sound level for the Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street. As the results, it is advisable to use the natural water sound dominating the district and to provide the staying spot to watch the event to be held. The results of this study could be used as fundamental data to recover the image of Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street to consider design concept of soundscape.

황토를 이용한 친환경 유공 흡음보드의 흡음특성 (Absorption Characteristics of Perforated Environment Friendly Sound Absorbing Board using Hwangto)

  • Sound absorbing materials used for lightweight panels and interior material are mainly made of fibroid material such as glass wool or rock wool. However these fiber type sound absorbing materials have some problems such that sound absorption could be decreased as time goes by because of durability. In addition, dust scattering from fiber type material can cause another problem in health. In this point of view, this study aims to develop environment friendly sound absorbing material using Hwangto(so called loess or yellow soil), a traditional housing material. Hwangto is natural housing material in Korea and generally known for improving indoor air quality. Hwangto panel is made to construct on the floor, wall and ceiling, and expected that there is not enough absorption. Present study tried to develop environment friendly sound absorbing material that has high sound absorption performance with good environment performance in terms of air quality. Pore rate was designed to maximize the absorption in the specific frequency bands, and two kinds of backing space were applied in order to see the effect of backing space. As a result peak frequency that has maximum absorption is going high as the pore rate is increased. The backing space provides more absorption and makes the peak frequency down to low.

가상환경의 인터랙티브 사운드를 위한 'EVE-SoundTM' 툴킷 ('EVE-SoundTM' Toolkit for Interactive Sound in Virtual Environment)

  • 본 논문은 2D/3D 가상환경에서 실감 사운드의 실시간 합성을 위한 $EVE-Sound^{TM}$ 툴킷의 설계와 개발결과를 제시한다. $EVE-Sound^{TM}$는 사운드 효과 계산에 필요한 장면요소를 간추리는 전처리 도구와 실시간 렌더링 API들로 구성되며, 다중 모달리티의 실감 재현을 필요로 하는 가상현실, 게임 등의 각종 인터랙티브 콘텐츠에서 사용자에게 고급 그래픽 환경을 허용하면서 동시에 사운드의 실시간 재현을 가능하게 함을 목표로 하였다. 3차원 사운드 계산이 매우 복잡하기 때문에 기존의 사운드 API들이 간단한 사운드 효과와 재생을 제공하는 것과 달리, 복잡한 가상환경에서 3차원 사운드의 원리를 반영하되 그 렌더링을 실시간화하는 데 초점을 두었고, 이를 위해 새로운 장면 간략화 및 공간사운드 계산 방법이 제시되었다. 응용 사례 및 실험, 알고리즘 분석을 통해 제시된 툴킷의 활용성 및 향상된 실시간성을 확인하였다.

충돌음 합성에 의한 가상환경의 청각적 인터랙션 디자인 (Auditory Interaction Design By Impact Sound Synthesis for Virtual Environment)

  • 본 논문에서는 객체 간 충돌음과 같이 가상환경의 발생 상황을 전달할 수 있는 중요한 감각 채널 중 하나인 소리를 통해 청각적 인터랙션을 디자인할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 철, 고무, 유리 등 물질별 기본음 샘플에 대해 각각의 고유음을 특징짓는 모드 게인 값의 스케일 변경을 허용함으로써 디자인적 변형이 가능하도록 하고, 충돌 상황에 대한 인지적 속성인 충돌체의 크기, 딱딱한 정도, 접촉면적, 충돌 속도 차이에 의한 충돌음의 변화를 실시간에 재현할 수 있게 하는 계산적 알고리즘을 사용한 방법이다. 소리를 통한 충돌물체의 물질 및 충돌 상황 인지 실험을 통해 제안된 방법이 가상환경 청각적 인터랙션 디자인에 사용될 수 있음을 보였다.

Environment Adaptive Sound Localization for Multi-Channel Surround Sound System

  • Recent development in multi-channel surround is emerging in various formats to provide better stereoscopic and sound effects to consumers in recent broadcasting. The ability sound localize the sound sources in space is most considerable design factor on multi-channel surround system for human earing perception model. However, this paper propose the change of the sound localization according to the spacing of the speakers, which is not covered in the existing research focus on sound system design. Presently the sound system uses the position and number of the speakers to localize the sound. In the multi-channel surround environment, the proposed design uses the sound localization is caused by the directional characteristics of the speaker, the distance between the speakers and the distance between the listener and the speaker according to the directivity is required. The proposed design is simulated using virtual measurement with MATLAB simulation environment and performances are measured.

수음실 잔향 시간변화에 따른 바닥충격음레벨 특성 - 잔향실을 중심으로 - (Floor Impact Sound Pressure Level Characteristics by the Change of Reverberation Time in a Reverberation Chamber)

  • Field measurement method of heavy/soft impact sound pressure level which is regulated in JIS and ISO has been using in Korea, Japan and Canada. It is reported that heavy/soft impact sound pressure level was varied by the sound field condition of receiving room such as sound absorption power and room volume. In this study, it is checked that heavy/soft impact sound pressure level was affected by the receiving sound field condition. Rubber ball and bang machine sound pressure level was measured in the vertically connected reverberation chamber. In oder to check the effect of receiving sound field on heavy/soft impact sound pressure, sound absorption power was changed with polyester sound absorption blankets with air space and glass wool. The reverberation time at 1 kHz band was changed from 10 s to 0.2 s by sound absorption material. Rubber ball sound pressure level measured without sound absorption material was 58 dB in $L_{i,Fmax,AW}$, but the level was 46 dB with sound absorption treatment. From this result, it is confirmed that sound field correction method is needed in the heavy/soft impact sound pressure level measurement method using bang machine and rubber ball.

비균질한 천해에서의 수중음파 전파 (Underwater Sound Propagation in a range-dependent Shallow water environment)

  • 비균질한 천해에서의 저주파 수중음파의 전파 특성을 수치모델을 이용 분석하였다. 특히 전파매질의 비균질성이 독특한 대한해협의 겨울철 해수특성을 고려하여 음속의 수평변화, 저질두께 및 감쇠계수의 변화, 수심의 변화등 천혜의 독특한 환경 변화요인을 거의 망라한 경우를 모델로 삼았다. 음원과 수신기의 수심을 수면가까이에 둔 경우소위Mode function의 수심에 따른 특성에 의한 손실이 일반적인 손실원인보다 크게 나타났으며 Adiabatic approximation을 이용한 Mode coupling효과는 High Mode의 감쇠특성에 의해 천해에서의 모델 적용 가능성을 보여주었다.
