In this study, we have investigated the development of the crystal growth stability and reproducibility for large and high-quality DAST. DAST crystal were grown from a saturated methanol solution by a slow cooling method and DAST was synthesized by the condensation of 4-methyl-n-methyl pyridinum tosylate, which was prepared from 4-pocoline and methyl toluenesulponate and 4-N-dimethyl amino-bezaldehyde in the presence of piperidine. We had synthesized DAST crystals in dry Argon atmosphere in order to avoid the formation of hydride organge co-crystals, DAST$.$$H_2O$. Since DAST molecules crystallize in a humid atmosphere, crystal structure become centrosymmetric, and then second order NLO (nonlinear optical) properties would be disappeared. We fixed the growth orientation of DAST crystal (001) surface. The crystal growth was proceeded at a cooling rate of $H_2O$/day and the cooling period is for 4 days. The dimensions of seed crystal was $2.5\times 3.6\times0.4\textrm{mm}^3$ and we have obtained a DAST crystal with the dimension of $10\times 10.5\times3.0\textrm{mm}^3$. The color of grown DAST crystal is red and it's surface appears to be metallic green.
Reduced glutathione (GSH) plays a vital role in the metabolism of all cells. Glutathions, a tripeptide cowfosed of glutamic acid, cysteane, and gtycina is synthesized by two synthesized reutions. The first is catalyzed by Y-glutamylcysteine synthetase (GSH-I) and the second by glutathione synthetase (GSH-ll). The glutathione biosynthetic pathway of E. coziis mainly controlled by nonallosteric feedback inhibition of GHS-I by GSH. Determination of the three-dimensional structure of GSH-I by X-ray crystallography is necessary in order to understand the structure-function relationship at the molecular level. As the (irst step toward its structure determination, crystallization of 5. coli V-glutamylcystfine synthetase (GSH-I) has been achived using the hanging drop vapor diffusion method and capillaw method. Crystals of GSH-I have been grown from ammonium sulfate solution. The crystals grew at room temperature within 10 days to dimensions of 0.2 m x 0.2 m x 0.2 ml by hanging drop vapor diffusion method and diffracted to about 4 A resolution using synchrotron X-rays. Another crystal, grown by the capillary method to dimensions of 0.25 mm x 0.25 mm x 0.3 mm within 40 days, diffracted to about 4 A resolution using X-rays from a rotating anode.

Large size potassium lithium niobate (KLN) crystals with dimensions of $8{\times}6{\times}2 mm^3$ were grown by the top - seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. The extraordinary refractive index $n_e$at the second harmonic frequency for KLN crystal depends on the composition and decreases in this crystal due to the large Li content. KLN crystal was characterized by observation in UV - VIS spectrometry. It is transparent from the ultraviolet to infrared spectral regions that the transmission limit and cut- off wavelength are about 350 and 380 nm.

NaX zeolite crystals of a uniform particle size of 50 $\mu$m were grown by continuous crystallization method from seed crystals (10~20 $\mu$m) added into a 0.5~2.0 g mother liquor having a composition $3.5Na_2O : Al_2O_3: 2.1SiO_2: 1000H_2O$. In order to investigate the crystal growing by continuous method, the mother solution was supplied after 7 days, 5 days, 3 days and 1 day, respectively. The seeding resulted in an increase in the fraction of large crystals compared with unseeded batches and successfully led to an uniform NaX zeolite crystal. It was postulated that the seeding in the synthesis mixture leaded out increase of surface area for physical contact reaction and directed growth of seed crystal without the nucleation in the synthesis gel.
A new crystal of helminth glutathione S-transferase, 28 kDa isozyme from Clonorchis sinensis has been grown from a 20% PEG MME 550 solution containing 50 mM $CaCl_{2}$ in 0.1 M bis-Tris buffer (pH 6.5) in $2{\sim}3$ days. The crystals diffract to $3.0{\AA}$ resolution and belong to the orthorhombic space group $P2_{1}2_{1}2_{1}$ with cell parameters $a=62.58{\AA},\;b=69.92{\AA},\;and\;c=339.67{\AA}$.
The group-theoretical approach analyzing the domain structure and the domain wall orientations of the ferroelastic crystal was introduced. These theoretical results were investigated by comparing them with the experimental results of several ferroelastic crystals, CsPbCl₃, Pb₃(PO₄)₂, and LiCsSO₄, which were grown by the Czochralski and solution methods, respectively. both results were agreed well and also consistent with those of previous works such s the strain method and the geometrical consideration. The group-theoretical approach showed that the ferroelastic domain walls must be the crystallographical prominent planes with fixed indices and classified by the symmetry elements characterizing the permissible domain walls. So the group-theoretical approach could be suggested as a new method for analyzing the structure of the ferroelastic domain and domain walls.
Amphiphilic (porphyrin)Sn$(OH)_2$ molecular building block can directly translate into well-defined solid-state microcrystalline structures. The crystalline diamond plates are obtained from ethanol and crystalline square plates are grown from methanol solution. With a simple synthetic manipulation during the microcrystal growth, the morphologies can be controlled by adopting different molecular packing. Consequently, morphologies of microcrystals have been diversified. Furthermore, the macroscopic crystals were obtained in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB).
Pervaporation with a membrane is one of the economic technologies for separation of liquid mixtures including organic/water mixtures. The ZSM-5 membrane was used fur pervaporation of dichloromethane, 1,2-dichloroethane and trans-1,2-dichloroethylene from their aqueous solutions since its physical property shows very hydrophobic. ZSM-5 crystals were hydrothermally grown and deposited on the inside of a porous sintered stainless steel tube by the secondary growth method. Fluxes of dichlorinated organic compounds were observed to be $50{\~}429\;g/m^2/h$ while separation factors were $15{\~}320$ depending on a mole fraction of a dichlorinated organic compound in a feed solution ranged from 0.0001 to 0.001 mole fraction and the operation temperature between $25^{\circ}C\;and\;35^{\circ}C$.
A helminth glutathione S-transferase. 28 kDa isozyme from Clonorchis sinensis has been crystallized under several conditions. One of the crystals, grown from a 10% polyehtylene glycol MME 550 (PEG MME 5 K) solution in 0.05 M potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.0), diffracts to $3.0{\AA}$ resolution, and belongs to monoclinic space group C2, with unit cell parameters $a=95.83{\AA}$, $b=63.82{\AA}$, $c=235.09{\AA}$, and ${\beta}=97.2^{\circ}$.

Crystals of a bacterial glutathione S-transferase(pGST) from pseudomonas sp. DJ 77 have been grown by hanging drop method of vapour diffusion from ammonium sulfate solution. The low concentration of polyethylene glycol 400 as additive were found to be essential for the reproducible growth of large single crystal of pGST. (omitted)
