A small electrical potential difference which appears on any solid body when subjected to illumination by a modulated light beam generated by laser is called photocharge voltage(PCV)[1,2]. This voltage is proportional to the induced change in the surface electrical charge and is capacitatively measured on various materials such as conductors, semiconductors, ceramics, dielectrics and biological objects. The amplitude of the detected signal depends on the type of material under investigation, and on the surface properties of the sample. In photocharge voltage spectroscopy measurements[3], the sample is illuminated by both a steady state monochromatic bias light and the pulsed laser. The monochromatic light is used to created a variation in the steady state population of trap levels in the surface and space charge region of semiconductor samples which does result in a change in the measured voltage. Using this technique the spatial variation of PCV can be utilized to evaluate the surface conditions of the sample and the variation of the PCV due to the monochromatic bias light are utilized to characterize the surface states. A qualitative analysis of the proposed measurement is present along with experimental results performed on amorphous silicon samples. The deposition temperature was varied in order to obtain samples with different structural, optical and electronic properties and measurements are related to the defect density in amorphous thin film.
A new experimental approach is proposed to detect a specific polymer dissolved in a liquid. Distinctive optical properties were found using a laser scattering technique when there is a polymer compound with almost no difference in optical properties (index of refraction) in a liquid phase. The index of refraction, which determines the refraction of light, is obtained by dissolving PCL and PLA. The used samples are biodegradable materials with similar properties and dissolved in a mixture of Chloroform 7: Methanol 3. To predict the optical properties, a 632-nm diode laser was used as the light source of the device, and an integrating sphere was used as the light receiver. Although PCL and PLA had a similar index of refraction of 1.46-1.48, the dissolved PCL showed a relative transmittance of 43%, and the dissolved PLA had a relative transmittance of 34%. The difference in optical properties of the pure polymer compound in the solid state or liquid state is not significantly different, and the difference in the dissolved state in the specific solvent is remarkable because the solubility differs in a specific solution and is randomly distributed.

Compact solid-state blue laser have great potential for use in optical data storage, laser beam printing, particle countering, reprographics, holography, and fluorescent bioanalysis. We report recent progresses in qualities of LiB3O5 and K3Li2(TaxNb1-x)5O15 nonlinear crystals which are essential in manufacturing bulk-type blue SHG devices. We also review newly developed violet-blue laser, 20 mW output, using intracavity frequency doubling of a diode laser pumped Cr:LiSrAlF6 laser with low loss LiB3O5 crystal as a frequency doubler.
Photochemical and photothermal effects have correlation with each other and depend on laser wavelength. Multi-scanning laser ablation process of polymer with DPSS(Diode Pumped Solid State) 3rd harmonic Nd:YVO$_4$ laser with wavelength of 355nm is applied to fabricate three-dimensional micro shape. The DPSSL photomachining system can rapidly and cheaply fabricate 2D pattern or 3D shape with high efficiency because we only use CAD/CAM software and precision stages instead of complex projection mask. Photomachinability of polymer is highly influenced by laser wavelength and its own chemical structure. So the optical characteristics of polymers for 355nm laser source is investigated by experimentally and theoretically.
Maskless laser patterning process is developed using 3rd harmonic Diode Pumped Solid State Laser with near visible wavelength of 355 nm. Photo-sensitive curable polymer is irradiated by UV laser and developed using polymer solvent to obtain quasi-3D patterns. We performed basic experiments for the various process conditions such as laser power, writing speed, laser focus, and polymer optical property to gain the optimal conditions. Experimentally, the patterns of trapezoidal shape were manufactured into dimension of 8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ width and 5.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ height. This process could be applied to fabricate a single mode waveguide without expensive mask projection method.
As the application area of range finder initially developed for military purpose has been extended, the necessity of precision measurement for long distance and its miniaturization is being presented. Recently, LRF(Laser Range Finder) is widely used because it shows more accurate results of range finding. However, most of LRFs use laser source which have wavelength ranges harmful to the human eyes. In this study, we developed the LRF using OPO(Optical Parametric Oscillator) which can stretch laser wavelength to safe region and realized more compact one using solid state laser
A flip-chip bonding system using DPSS(Diode Pumped Solid State) Nd:YAG laser(wavelength : 1064nm) which shows a good quality in fine pitch bonding is developed. This laser bonder can transfer beam energy to the solder directly and melt it without any physical contact by scanning a bare chip. By using a laser source to heat up the solder balls directly, it can reduce heat loss and any defects such as bridge with adjacent solder, overheating problems, and chip breakage. Comparing to conventional flip-chip bonders, the bonding time can be shortened drastically. This laser precision micro bonder can be applied to flip-chip bonding with many advantage in comparison with conventional ones.
A laser line welder using a solid-state laser (Yb:YAG) has been manufactured for joining ultra-thin cold-rolled steel coils in steelworks. The coils to be welded primarily range from 0.15 to 0.3 mm in thickness and 800 to 1,100 mm in width. Because the steel plate is extremely thin, it is very important to control the stop positions of the clamp at cutting and welding points. In this study, both hydraulic proportional control valves and LVDT sensor embedded cylinders were used to precisely control and monitor the positions of clamps with complementary stoppers. As a result, the positions could be controlled within an error of ${\pm}30{\mu}m$. Erichsen cupping tests on the welded joints show that the Erichsen index ranges from 4.4 to 4.6 mm. Furthermore, the tensile strength of welding points is comparable to that of the base metal.
A pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used widely in many applications such as materials processing, communications, military and medical instruments. It is important to control the laser energy in those fields with using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In this paper, constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter and feedback control circuit are used to have output stable. This laser power supply is designed and fabri which was isolated. Also, this study is used an one-chip microprocessor, SCR, current transform A stable output of this Nd:YAG laser system investigated. The tested results are described.

The smallest green laser containing a built-in temperature controlling unit has been demonstrated. The device volume was just 0.5 cubic centimeters, which is nearly the same size as existing red and blue diode lasers, has an electrical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 10% and 150 mW power output. Furthermore as an alternative approach for compact green laser development, a quasi-phase matching method with wide spectral bandwidth for the reduction of speckle noise will be presented.
