  • In this paper, a new approach for solid texture synthesis from input volume data is presented. In the pre-process, feature vectors and a similarity set were constructed for input volume data. The feature vectors were used to construct neighboring vectors for more accurate neighborhood matching. The similarity set which recorded 3 candidates for each voxel helped more effective neighborhood matching. In the synthesis process, the pyramid synthesis method was used to synthesize solid textures from coarse to fine level. The results of the proposed approach were satisfactory.

  • Ground-glass opacity nodules(GGNs) in chest CT images are associated with lung cancer, and have a different malignant rate depending on existence of solid component in the nodules. In this paper, we propose a method to classify pure GGNs and part-solid GGNs using multiview images and texture analysis in pulmonary GGNs with solid components of 5mm or smaller. We extracted 1521 features from the GGNs segmented from the chest CT images and classified the GGNs using a SVM classification model with selected features that classify pure GGNs and part-solid GGNs through a feature selection method. Our method showed 85% accuracy using the SVM classifier with the top 10 features selected in the multiview images.

  • The mother Ni-W (1-5 wt.%) alloy billets for coated conductor substrate were fabricated by powder metallurgy process. The tensile test results for the sintered Ni-W rods showed the increase of mechanical strength and decrease of ductility with increasing W content due to the solid solution hardening. All the fracture surfaces of the tested specimens showed the typical ductile fracture mode of dimple rupture due to the local necking. The Ni-W alloy billets were made into tape by cold rolling. After the appropriate heat treatment for recrystallization, the brass texture formed by the cold rolling was converted to the complete cube texture. The in-plane and out of plane texture of the tapes estimated by x-ray pole figure were smaller than 9 degree and 7 degree, respectively. The effect of the W addition on the texture development seems not to be significant.

  • Textured $Bi_{0.5}(Na,K)_{0.5}TiO_3-BiFeO_3$ ceramics were prepared by the reactive-templated grain growth process, using platelike $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ particles. The effects of chemical composition in $Bi_{0.5}(Na,K)_{0.5}TiO_3$ on texture development and densification were examined. Textured ceramics were obtained by using $Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5}TiO_3$ as an end member of the solid solution but densification was limited. Dense ceramics were obtained by using $Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5}TiO_3$ but texture did not develop. Dense, textured ceramics were obtained by using $Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{0.5}TiO_3$.

  • In this paper, forced vibration was used to regulate the droplet migration, fully recording the transient migration of droplets on a micro-textured substrate under the resonance frequency by a high-speed camera. The influence of resonance frequency and dynamic migration characteristics of droplets on the solid micro-texture surface under lateral vibration were researched. The experiment demonstrates that the driving force is caused by the difference between the left and right contact angles made the droplet oscillate and migrate, and as time t increases, the left and right contact points are periodically shifted and the amplitude of migration increases. Therefore, based on the droplet migration behavior and its force balance mechanism, a spring vibration model of migration behavior of the vibrating droplet micro unit was set up to predict the complete trajectory of its migration on a solid surface. The calculation results show that the theoretical displacement is less than the experimental displacement, and the longer the time, the larger the difference. Affected by the vibration, part of the droplet permeates through the micro-texture, resulting in the droplet losing height and the contact angle becoming smaller as well. While the other part of droplet overcomes the internal surface tension to migrate.

  • The application of reciprocating engine crankshaft bearings is of particular importance and interest among the plain bearing, not only because the sheer volume of intemal combustion engines now produced, but because the severe operating conditions they are subjected to. Demands for better performances of crankshaft bearings have provide an important impetus in the development of bearings and bearing materials. As engine design progresses toward higher outpt and higher efficiency, crankshaft bearings must perform under more seveve operating conditions. Higher load, temperature, and speed as well as lower viscosity oil are applied to the bearing sysem, resulting in a smaller minimum oil film thickness. This means more solid-solid contact between the shaft and bearing, and the bearing is exposed to more danger of seizure. Some engines may experience bearing seizure problems. However, understanding about the seizure behavior and mechanism is far from being enough. Seizure resistance of a bearing-shaft system will be affected by the properties of the shaft and bearing, especially their materials and surface texture. Commonly used engine bearing materials include Al-Pb-Si, Al-Sn-Si, Al-Sn, and Cu-Pb with Pb-Sn-Cu overlay. These materials have very different properties. They showed different behaviors dering seizure tests and seizure may occur with different mechanism for different bearing material. Shaft materials also affect the seizure resistance of the system. Surface texture of the bearing and shaft have apparent effects on the lubrication and solid-solid contact pattern, and therefore will affect the seizure behavior of the system. Bearings and shafts which are made of different materials and have different surface textures have been tested and analyzed. Their effects on seizure resistance are discussed and possible seizure mechanisms for different beatings are presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, we propose an automated method for the ground-glass nodule(GGN) classification using GGN-Net based on intensity, texture, and shape-enhanced images in chest CT images. First, we propose the utilization of image that enhances the intensity, texture, and shape information so that the input image includes the presence and size information of the solid component in GGN. Second, we propose GGN-Net which integrates and trains feature maps obtained from various input images through multiple convolution modules on the internal network. To evaluate the classification accuracy of the proposed method, we used 90 pure GGNs, 38 part-solid GGNs less than 5mm with solid component, and 23 part-solid GGNs larger than 5mm with solid component. To evaluate the effect of input image, various input image set is composed and classification results were compared. The results showed that the proposed method using the composition of intensity, texture and shape-enhanced images showed the best result with 82.75% accuracy.

  • Nowaday, market size of digital image in world around is looks to rapidly growth. For this, Texture mapping has traditionally been used to add realism to computer graphics images. Therefore to make our image realistic, we need to give the various kind of objects material parameter and environment lighting. To present the completed marble we use passing back algorithm and combination with channel of a material. In experimental result of this paper that application by passing back algorithm and varying the parameter such as scale, period, distortion, octaves of noise make showing the superiority of optimized rendering of spheres and perfect another marble effects.

  • Background: To determine the various sonographic findings in a papillary carcinoma of the thyroid. Materials and Methods: 48 patients with a proven papillary carcinoma of the thyroid were involved. The sonographic features analyzed were the size, shape, content, margin, internal echo, and calcification pattern. Results: Common sonographic features of a papillary carcinoma include the hypoechoic texture (94%), an ill defined margin (81%), a solid nodule (100%), irregular shape (48%), and microcalcifications (35%), or no calcifications (42%). The uncommon features included a hyperechoic or mixed echo texture, cystic elements, a well defined margin, and a coarse or peripheral calcifications. Conclusion: Ill-defined hypoechoic solid nodule with microcalcification is a characteristic ultrasonographic finding of a thyroid papillary carcinoma.
