  • Recently, renewable energy sources such as wind turbine, solar cell are interested in preventing global warming which is caused by the consumption of fossil fuel. SCM440(H) and SNCM439 have been used in the major components of the wind turbine gear because of excellent mechanical properties. In the present study, the heat treated mechanical properties of SCM440(H) and SNCM439 with 150 mm diameter were compared with those with 25 mm diameter which is generally accepted material for structural application. Heat treated SCM440(H) showed better mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness and impact absorbed energy compared with those in SNCM439. Hardenss value between as-quenched and as-quenched followed by tempering showed big difference in SNCM439, however the difference in SCM440(H) was relatively small. Heat treated mechanical properties of the alloys with 25 mm diameter were more uniform value than those with 150 mm diameter.

  • Environmental pollution by Using of a fossil fuel, a reckless and growth-oriented development since the Industrial Revolution has caused global change of environment. An issue largest among this is a climate change. A global mean temperature since 19th century has climbed up $0.4{\sim}0.8^{\circ}C$. After The Kyoto Protocol regarding a greenhouse gas reduction goal took effect, be situations that decrease of greenhouse gas was acutely required. Interest of utilization of the new & renewable energy is increasing every day. This study shows that at first divided a country to nine range by natural geography, and second executed Meteorological data analysis of recent 30 years considering level of significance by nine range. The results of this study are that in heating load calculation of building, periodic temperature data management is required because facility capacity and cost are affected greatly by outdoor temperature, and temperature by climate range needs consideration of pertinent area. Lastly, ground temperature was assumed of the weather in region, the ground and soil.

  • Five zero energy house models developed in Korea for the purpose of the energy performance were compared and analyzed in the study. The standard passive house model applying common technology and efficient energy performance elements was proposed. Standard passive house 5 models have been developed commonly aiming at 100% energy saving, applying high-performance and high-efficiency exterior thermal insulation, using 3 low-e coated window system, and targeting average 0.65 ACH to enhance privacy. Energy recovery ventilators and dry and cold radiant heating floor has been partially applied. Eco-design techniques such as the awning device, heat insulating door, using natural light have been used. Solar and geothermal systems as the application of renewable energy technologies have been commonly applied. And fuel cells were applied to a partial model. The standard model based on common technical elements and average performance of each element and obtained from five model analysis has been proposed in the study.

  • This paper describes the development of hardware simulator for the operation analysis of DC microgrid. The hardware simulator consists of several distributed power sources such as a wind power generation, solar power and fuel cell, and two energy storages such as a supercapacitor and battery. The main controller which performs a role of energy management and state monitoring is connected with the local controller in each power source and storage through ethernet-based communication link. The developed hardware simulator can be utilized to analyze the performance DC microgrid with practical manner.

  • Hydrogen is one of the few long-term sustainable clean energy carriers, emitting only water as by-products during its combustion or oxidation. The use of fossil fuels to produce hydrogen makes large amount of carbon dioxide (>7 kg $CO_{2}$/kg $H_{2}$) during the reforming processes. Hydrogen production can be environmentally benign only if the energy and the resource to make hydrogen is sustainable and renewable. Biomass is an attractive alternative to fossil fuels for carbon dioxide because of the hydrogen can be produced by conversion of the biomass and the carbon dioxide formed during hydrogen production is consumed by biomass generation process. Hydrogen production using solar energy also attracts great attention because of the potential to use abundance natural energy and water.

  • Bio-energy offers the opportunity to lessen fossil fuel consumption. Energy derived from solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass sources are considered renewable. Because most forms of bio-energy are derive deither directly or indirectly from the sun, there is an abundant supply of renewable energy available, unlike fossil fuels. The use of bio-energy also provides environmental, economic and political benefits. Bio-energy can be produced from a marine source such as biomass provides a $CO_2$ neutral, non-polluting form of energy. In this paper, the potential of marine biomass is increasingly discussed, given the size of the resource in that more than three quarters of the surface of planet earth is covered by water.

  • A new three phase three-level Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Switched Voltage Source (SVS) inverter with zero neutral point potential is proposed. It consists of three single-phase inverter modules. Each module is composed of a switched voltage source and inverter switches. The major advantage is that the peak value of the phase output voltage is twice as high as that of a conventional neutral-point-clamped (NPC) PWM inverter. Thus, the proposed inverter is suitable for applications with low voltage sources such as batteries, fuel cells, or solar cells. Furthermore, three-level waveforms of the proposed inverter can be achieved without the switch voltage imbalance problem. Since the average neutral point potential of the proposed inverter is zero, a common ground between the input stage and the output stage is possible. Therefore, it can be applied to a transformer-less Power Conditioning System (PCS). The proposed inverter is verified by a PSpice simulation and experimental results based on a laboratory prototype.

  • High voltage gain converters are essential for distributed power generation systems with renewable energy sources, such as fuel cells and solar cells, because of their low voltage characteristics. This paper introduces a novel nonisolated DC-DC converter topology developed by combining an inverting buck-boost converter and voltage multipliers. In the proposed converter, the input voltage is connected in series with the output, and the majority of the input power is directly delivered to the load. The voltage multipliers are stacked in series to achieve high step-up voltage gain. The voltage stress across all of the switches and capacitors can be significantly reduced. As a result, the switches with low voltage ratings can be used to achieve high efficiency and low cost. To verify the validity of the proposed topology, a 360-W prototype converter is built to obtain the experimental results.

In this paper, the frictional noise made by vehicles tire on roads is considered and researched as alternative electrical generation source. The amplitude and waveform of generated electricity with various types of vehicles according to their velocity, weight and distances between vehicles and sensor are measured and analyzed. As a result, all difference effects mentioned above which make the frictional noise affect quality and quantity of generated electricity. Maximum 0.53[V] and 0.028[W] electricity was generated by truck with 100[km/h] velocity on the express way.
