Solar hot water system produces hot water using solar energy. If it is not used effectively, overheating occurs during the summer. Therefore, a lot of research is being done to solve this. This study develops thermoelectric power module applicable to solar hot water system. A thermoelectric material can directly convert thermal energy into electrical energy without additional power generation devices. If there is a temperature difference between high and low temperature, it generate power by Seebeck effect. The thermoelectric module generates electricity using temperature differences through the heat exchange of hot and cold water. The water used for cooling is heated and stored as hot water as it passes through the module. It can prevent overheating of Solar hot water system while producing power. The thermoelectric module consists of one absorption and two radiation part. There path is designed in the form of a water jacket. As a result, a temperature of the absorption part was $134.2^{\circ}C$ and the radiation part was $48.6^{\circ}C$. The temperature difference between the absorption and radiation was $85.6^{\circ}C$. Also, The Thermoelectric module produced about 122 W of irradiation at $708W/m^2$. At this time, power generation efficiency was 2.62% and hot water conversion efficiency was 62.46%.

As the use of new and renewable energy is one of the ways by which the exhaustion of fossil fuels and the other existing environmental problems can be addressed, a policy of spreading information regarding it and of conducting R&D related to it is currently being implemented in advanced countries. In the construction field, the concept of "green building" was born, and the application of this concept has increased, with the end in view of achieving energy savings, resource savings, and recycling, and of conserving the natural environment. In this context, the government of Korea amended the "Law on the Development, Use, and Promotion of New and Recycled Energy" in 2004, which contains 11 provisions related to new and renewable energy and their sources, including solar and geothermal energy as well as sunlight, water, rainfall, and organisms. Since solar-energy should be used instead of fossil fuels by converting sunlight directly into electricity, many researches on this subject are in progress. There are few researches, however, employing the economic approach to the subject. Thus, in this study, an economic assessment of the solar-energy system was conducted using both life cycle cost (LCC) analysis and sensitivity analysis. The results of the LCC analysis show that the solar-energy system will become economically better than the fossil fuel system after 16 years, although the initial construction cost of the solar-energy system is higher than that of the fossil fuel system. The results of this study are expected to be used in selecting an eco-friendly and economical solar-energy system when the construction of a green building is planned.
The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is a device for the conversion of visible light into electricity, based on the sensitization of wide bandgap semiconductors. The performance of the cell mainly depends on a dye used as sensitizer. The absorption spectrum of the dye and the anchorage of the dye to the surface of $TiO_2$ are important parameters determining the efficiency of the cell. Generally, transition metal coordination compounds(ruthenium polypyridyl complexes) are used as the effective sensitizers, due to their intense charge-transfer absorption in the whole visible range and highly efficient metal-to ligand charge transfer. However, ruthenium polypyridyl complexes contain a heavy metal, which is undesirable from point of view of the environmental aspects. Moreover, the process to synthesize the complexes is complicated and costly. Alternatively, organic dyes can be used for the same purpose with an acceptable efficiency. The advantages of organic dyes include their availability and low cost. We designed and synthesized a series of organic sensitizers containing long wavelength absorption-chromophores for the dye sensitized solar cell. The DSSC composed of Blue-chromophores for the sensitization absorbed long wavelength region which is different also applied into the dye-cocktail (mixing) system. The photovoltaic property of DSSCs organic long wavelength absorption-chromophores were measured and evaluated by comparison with that of individual chromophores.
$TiO_2$ nanopowders were synthesized by new sol-gel combustion hybrid method using acetylene black as a fuel. The dried gels exhibited autocatalytic combustion behaviour. $TiO_2$ nanopowders with an anatase structure and a narrow size distribution were obtained at 400-600 ${^{\circ}C}$. Their crystal structures were examined by powder Xray diffraction (XRD) and their morphology and crystal size were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystal size of the nanopowders was found to be in the range of 15-20 nm. $TiO_2$ powders synthesized at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$ and 600 ${^{\circ}C}$ were applied to a dye solar cell. An efficiency of 5.2% for the conversion of solar energy to electricity ($J_{sc}$ = 11.79 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ = 0.73 V, and FF = 0.58) was obtained for an AM 1.5 irradiation (100 mW/$cm^2$) using the $TiO_2$ nanopowder synthesized by the sol-gel combustion hybrid method at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$.

The improvement of solar energy-to-electricity conversion efficiency has continued to be an important research area of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The mechanism of DSSCs is based on the injection of electrons from the photoexcited dye into the conduction band of nanocrystalline TiO2 or ZnO. Thus, the electronic structures, such as HOMO, LUMO, and HOMO-LUMO band gaps of dye moleculed in DSSC are deeply related to the electron transfer by photoexcitation and redox potential. Organic dyes, because of their many advantages, such as high molar extinction coefficients, convenience of customized molecular design for desired photophysical and photochemical properties, inexpensiveness with no transition metals contained, and environment-friendliness, are suitable as photosensitizers for DSSC. We believe that practically useful organic dye photosensitizers can be produced by exploiting electron donor/acceptor system with proper length of ${\pi}$-conjugation in a chromophore to control the absorption wavelength and enhance the photovoltaic performance. In this research, We designed and synthesized organic dyes also investigated the photoelectrochemical properties of a series of ionic dyes in DSSCs.

Sri Lanka has strongly understood the importance of mitigation of climate change and various measures have been taken. To tackle the climate change, after ratifying Paris Agreement, Sri Lanka has pledged to reduce her greenhouse gas emission in the energy sector by 20% (16% unconditional and 4% conditional) by 2030 based on the BAU scenario. Simultaneously, the government introduced its new energy policy and strategies in 2019 with a vision of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This paper survey related key government documents, policies, reports, and academic articles to investigate opportunities for the private sector to invest large scale solar power deployment (10 MW or above) and to get support from climate finance under article 6 of the Paris Agreement. It has found, growing concern on the environment, energy security issues and increase import expenses for fossil fuels are the main influencing factors to move renewable sources. Further, government investment and FDI both have gradually decreased in the energy sector. Therefore, an alternative financing mechanism is needed. Although the private sector allowed investing in the energy sector since 1996 with the introduction of IPP (Independent Power Producers), it could not make considerable progress on involving large scale solar utility projects. This has revealed government policy is not aligning with the long term generation plan of the electricity sector. The study has also found, it needs more strategic road map, coordination with different institutions, monitoring system to enhance large scale solar contribution.
The excess heat that is generated from PV modules can be removed and converted into useful thermal energy. A photovoltaic/thermal(PVT) module is a combination of photovoltaic module with a solar thermal collector, forming one device that converts solar radiation into electricity and heat simultaneously In general, two types of PVT can be distinguished: glass-covered PVT module, which produces high-temperature heat but has a slightly lower electrical yield, and uncovered PVT module, which produces relatively low-temperature heat but has a somewhat higher electrical performance. In this paper, the experimental performance of water type unglazed PVT combined module, analyzed. The electrical and thermal performance of the module were measured in outdoor conditions, and the results are analyzed. The results showed that the thermal efficiency of the PVT module was 27.05% average and its PV efficiency was about 11.85% average, both depending on solar radiation, inlet water temperature and ambient temperature.
Recently, buildings with transparent glazing on exterior walls have increased. The transparent glazing on exterior walls gives an impression of opening through introducing external environment's elements to inside of the building, and has various merits and so on, but has defects in controling indoor environments. Especially, the excess of solar radiation in summer increases cooling load causing discomforts to occupants providing radiant environment with high temperature. Cooling load mainly depends on electricity comparing to heating load and intents to centralize specific time. So it is necessary to work out a countermeasure. In this study, showed P building with transparent glazing on exterior walls as a case, investigated indoor thermal performance, numerical analysis of P building in summer through comparing dry-sauna which is represented as radiant environment with high temperature. In the results of this study, transparent glazing space has radiant environment with high temperature such as dry-sauna because of the excess of solar radiation. Accordingly countermeasures are considered in building planning. As concrete methods, there are adiabatic effects using double glazing, use of sunscreen, blind, ventilation facilitation using natural draft, decrease of surface temperature through evaporation cooling and cooling coils.
