  • We propose an autonomous mission management software design and verification technique for unmanned aerial vehicles to autonomously mitigate dynamic situation changes occurred in the inside and outside of an aircraft in compliance with the mitigation priority order. The proposed autonomous mission management software is designed in a modular architecture that consists of concurrently executing multiple threads. To verify it, we suggest three verification steps: 1) software integration by checking the expected request/response messages between the threads for all possible dynamic situation changes; 2) integration test to verify the software functionality; 3) performance test to verify the quantitative software performance. Especially, the software integration test environment is built and utilized to carry out the integration and performance tests.

  • The necessity of a short period of software development with lower cost came out. The reason of making the component based development is that it can improve the software development , productivity maintenance , and software quality innovatively. Following these advantages of component based application development methods, we found the COM based components effective to Window platform in the satellite surveying. In this paper, we can obtain many precious engineering experiences. Software system development and maintenance will take much shorter time with higher reusability if satellite surveying system is constructed with component extraction proposed by us.

  • Integration systems help users consume services more effectively. However, previous integration systems can only enable predefined service cooperation to satisfy users, which is difficult to achieve user-centric service composition in dynamic environments. Therefore, in this paper, a dynamic service integration system is proposed to automatically combine services based on usage history. With this system, services can be dynamically composed to meet users' needs and information can be flexibly transited among heterogeneous services.

  • In this article we review the metaphor of service-oriented architecture for enterprise computing. In typical definitions service-oriented architecture appears as a single message and a consistent roadmap for building flexible software system landscapes. But it is not. Different communities have elaborated different SOA (service-oriented architecture) concepts to address different problem areas, i.e., enterprise application integration, business-to-business, business process management, and software productizing. If software architects and software managers are aware of these strands of SOA when talking about SOA in their projects they can avoid misunderstandings and detours better. This article contributes a clarification of the different strands of SOA concepts and technologies and their mutual dependencies and identifies particular SOA concepts as instances of more general software engineering principles.

  • COMS (Communication Ocean Meteorological Satellite) is the geostationary satellite being developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute for multi-mission: experimental communication, ocean monitoring and meteorological observations. The COMS operation is controlled by the on-board software running on the spacecraft central computer. The software is written in ADA language and developed under the software life cycle: Requirement analysis, Design, Implementation, Component test and Integration test. Most functional requirements are tested at component level on a software component testing tool, ATTOL. ATTOL provides a simple way to define the test cases and automates the test program generation, test execution and test analysis. When two or more verified components are put together, the integration test starts to check the non-functional requirements: real-time aspect, performance, the HW/SW compatibility and etc. This paper introduces the COMS on-board software and explains what to test and how to test the on-board software at component level using ATTOL.

  • This paper deals with an approach to boost the public sector SI market in Korea. In order to promote competition powers of the software industry in Korea, a software industry promotion law has been issued, which restricts large SI companies from competing in the public sector system integration market. However, naturally many SI projects in public sectors are too large and complicated to be carried by small and medium size companies. This paper proposes an approach to reform the SI market for those small and medium size SI companies.

  • Modeling and Simulation(M&S) technology has been widely used to solve constraints such as time, space, safety, and cost when we implement the same development and test environments as real warfare environments to develop, test, and evaluate weapon systems for the last several decades. The integration and test environments employed for development and test & evaluation are required to provide Live Virtual Construction(LVC) simulation environments for carrying out requirement analysis, design, integration, test and verification. Additionally, they are needed to provide computing environments which are possible to reconfigure computing resources and software components easily according to test configuration changes, and to run legacy software components independently on specific hardware and software environments. In this paper, an Integration Test and Simulation for Engagement Control(ITSEC) bed using a bare-metal virtualization mechanism is proposed to meet the above test and simulation requirements, and it is applied and implemented for an air missile defense system. The engagement simulation experiment results conducted on air and missile defense environments demonstrate that the proposed bed is a sufficiently cost-effective and feasible solution to reconfigure and expand application software and computing resources in accordance with various integration and test environments.

  • This paper describes a model-based software development methodology for AUTOSAR-ready light software architecture(AUTOSAR-Lite). The proposed methodology briefly represents an application software modeling technique using Matlab/Simulink. Using the proposed technique, application software architecture elements (e.g. software components, runnables, and interfaces) and functional behaviors can be designed in a single modeling environment. From the designed model, the codes of application software is automatically generated using Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder. The generated application software is easily integrated with hand-coded basic software using the proposed method. In order to evaluate the proposed methodology, a diesel engine management system for a passenger car was employed as a case study. Based on the methodology, 8 atomic software components and 52 runnables are successfully developed, and they are evaluated by engine experiments. From this case study, AUTOSAR compatible model-based application software was successfully developed, and the effectiveness of the proposed methodology was evaluated.
