이기종 분산 환경에서 동적 재구성이 가능한 통합 관리 및 모니터링 시스템 (Dynamic Reconfigurable Integrated Management and Monitoring System for Heterogeneous Distributed Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 이기종 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 관리 대상이 되는 시스템이나 애플리케이션들의 정보 모델을 동적으로 재구성하는 통합 관리/모니터링 시스템을 개발한다. 다양한 플랫폼 위에서 동작하는 하위 시스템들이 추가, 제거, 수정되는 상황에서 분산시스템을 효과적으로 관리하기 위해서는 분산 시스템의 형상과 통합 관리/모니터링 시스템의 정보가 일치해야 한다. 이에 시스템의 형상이 변화되었을 때, 시스템의 변경된 형상과 통합 관리/모니터링 시스템의 정보가 동기화되어야 하며, 동기화가 수행되는 동안 시스템은 정지 없이 모니터링 정보를 사용자에게 제공할 수 있는 가용성이 보장되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 관리 대상인 하위 시스템에서 하드웨어나 소프트웨어의 형상의 변경이 있을 때 변경 내용을 통합 관리/모니터링 시스템에 통보하고, 통보된 정보를 바탕으로 관리 대상인 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어의 정보들을 동적으로 재구성 하는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 통해 어떤 이기종 분산 시스템도 통합 관리/모니터링 시스템에 반영하여 신뢰성 있는 통합 관리를 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 멀티미디어 서비스를 위해서는 멀티미디어 응용을 쉽게 개발할 수 있도록 도와주는 멀티미디어 저작 도구가 요구된다. 이러한 저작도구가 인터넷 상에서 이용되기 위해서는 저작도구가 생성한 응용 프로그램이 웹브라우저 상에서 실행되도록 구성해야 할 것이다. 이를 가능하게 하는 기술로 윈도우에서 처리되는 플러그인 (Plug-In)이 있다. 최근 다양한 플러그인들이 인터넷상에서 제공되고 있으며 인터넷 이용이 급증하고 있는 추세를 볼 때 개발한 프로그램을 웹서버를 통해 제공될 수 있도록 하는 일이 필요하다고 본다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 저작도구의 플레이백 모듈을 인터넷상의 웹브라우저에서 구동시킬 수 있는 플러그인 프로그램 개발 방법과 구현 예를 설명하고자 한다.

모바일 어플리케이션의 감정 적응형 사용자 인터페이스 저작 프레임워크 (An Authoring Framework for Emotion-Aware User Interface of Mobile Applications)

  • Since affective computing has been introduced in 90s, affect recognition technology has achieved substantial progress recently. However, the application of user emotion recognition into software user interface is in its early stages. In this paper, we describe a new approach for developing mobile user interface which could react differently depending on user emotion states. First, an emotion reaction model is presented which determines user interface reactions for each emotional state. We introduce a pair of mappings from user states to different user interface versions. The reacting versions are implemented by a set of variations for a view. Further, we present an authoring framework to help developers/designers to create emotion-aware reactions based on the proposed emotion reaction model. The authoring framework is necessary to alleviate the burden of creating and handling multi versions for views at the development process. A prototype implementation is presented as an extension of the existing authoring tool DAT4UX. Moreover, a proof-of-concept application featuring an emotion-aware interface is developed using the tool.

  • Digital therapeutics based on software, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, games, and smartphone applications, are in the spotlight as new therapeutic alternatives in child and adolescent psychiatry. It draws attention to overcoming conventional therapeutics' limitations, such as toxicity, cost, and accessibility, and encourages patients to participate in the treatment attractively. The growth potential of the digital therapeutics market for psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents in Korea and abroad has been highlighted. Clinical studies and Food and Drug Administration approvals for digital therapeutics have increased, and cases approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety have emerged in Korea. As seen above, digital transformation in child and adolescent psychiatry will change treatment paradigms significantly. Therefore, as this new field has just begun to emerge, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness and scope of the application of digital therapeutics and consider preparing a compensation system and institutional arrangements. Accordingly, this study analyzed the development trends and application status of digital therapeutics in children and adolescents and presented limitations and development directions from the perspective of application in healthcare. Further, the study is expected to identify the utility and limitations of digital therapeutics for children and adolescents and establish effective application measures.

국방 M&S의 특징 분석과 이를 통한 VV&A 방향 (M&S Verification, Validation and Accreditation Research Direction Considering the Characteristics of Defense M&S)

  • In this paper, we first present an in-depth survey of the research on Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A) applied in various areas. Then we introduce the characteristics of the military and defense Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and propose the direction of method for VV&A with the identified characteristics. The M&S has been widely used in many different applications in the military and defense area including training, analysis, and acquisition. Methods and processes of VV&A have been proposed by researchers and M&S practitioners to guarantee the correctness of the M&S. The idea of applying the formal credibility assessment in VV&A is originated from the Software Engineering Reliability Test and Systems Engineering Development Process. However, the current VV&A techniques and processes proposed in the research community have not utilized the military-and-defense specific characteristics. We identify the characteristics and issues that can be found in the military and defense M&S. Then propose the direction of techniques and methods for VV&A considering the characteristics and issues. Also, possible research direction on the development of VV&A is proposed.

Hardware Approach to Fuzzy Inference―ASIC and RISC―

  • This talk presents the overview of the author's research and development activities on fuzzy inference hardware. We involved it with two distinct approaches. The first approach is to use application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) technology. The fuzzy inference method is directly implemented in silicon. The second approach, which is in its preliminary stage, is to use more conventional microprocessor architecture. Here, we use a quantitative technique used by designer of reduced instruction set computer (RISC) to modify an architecture of a microprocessor. In the ASIC approach, we implemented the most widely used fuzzy inference mechanism directly on silicon. The mechanism is beaded on a max-min compositional rule of inference, and Mandami's method of fuzzy implication. The two VLSI fuzzy inference chips are designed, fabricated, and fully tested. Both used a full-custom CMOS technology. The second and more claborate chip was designed at the University of North Carolina(U C) in cooperation with MCNC. Both VLSI chips had muliple datapaths for rule digital fuzzy inference chips had multiple datapaths for rule evaluation, and they executed multiple fuzzy if-then rules in parallel. The AT & T chip is the first digital fuzzy inference chip in the world. It ran with a 20 MHz clock cycle and achieved an approximately 80.000 Fuzzy Logical inferences Per Second (FLIPS). It stored and executed 16 fuzzy if-then rules. Since it was designed as a proof of concept prototype chip, it had minimal amount of peripheral logic for system integration. UNC/MCNC chip consists of 688,131 transistors of which 476,160 are used for RAM memory. It ran with a 10 MHz clock cycle. The chip has a 3-staged pipeline and initiates a computation of new inference every 64 cycle. This chip achieved an approximately 160,000 FLIPS. The new architecture have the following important improvements from the AT & T chip: Programmable rule set memory (RAM). On-chip fuzzification operation by a table lookup method. On-chip defuzzification operation by a centroid method. Reconfigurable architecture for processing two rule formats. RAM/datapath redundancy for higher yield It can store and execute 51 if-then rule of the following format: IF A and B and C and D Then Do E, and Then Do F. With this format, the chip takes four inputs and produces two outputs. By software reconfiguration, it can store and execute 102 if-then rules of the following simpler format using the same datapath: IF A and B Then Do E. With this format the chip takes two inputs and produces one outputs. We have built two VME-bus board systems based on this chip for Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The board is now installed in a robot at ORNL. Researchers uses this board for experiment in autonomous robot navigation. The Fuzzy Logic system board places the Fuzzy chip into a VMEbus environment. High level C language functions hide the operational details of the board from the applications programme . The programmer treats rule memories and fuzzification function memories as local structures passed as parameters to the C functions. ASIC fuzzy inference hardware is extremely fast, but they are limited in generality. Many aspects of the design are limited or fixed. We have proposed to designing a are limited or fixed. We have proposed to designing a fuzzy information processor as an application specific processor using a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach was developed by RISC designers. In effect, we are interested in evaluating the effectiveness of a specialized RISC processor for fuzzy information processing. As the first step, we measured the possible speed-up of a fuzzy inference program based on if-then rules by an introduction of specialized instructions, i.e., min and max instructions. The minimum and maximum operations are heavily used in fuzzy logic applications as fuzzy intersection and union. We performed measurements using a MIPS R3000 as a base micropro essor. The initial result is encouraging. We can achieve as high as a 2.5 increase in inference speed if the R3000 had min and max instructions. Also, they are useful for speeding up other fuzzy operations such as bounded product and bounded sum. The embedded processor's main task is to control some device or process. It usually runs a single or a embedded processer to create an embedded processor for fuzzy control is very effective. Table I shows the measured speed of the inference by a MIPS R3000 microprocessor, a fictitious MIPS R3000 microprocessor with min and max instructions, and a UNC/MCNC ASIC fuzzy inference chip. The software that used on microprocessors is a simulator of the ASIC chip. The first row is the computation time in seconds of 6000 inferences using 51 rules where each fuzzy set is represented by an array of 64 elements. The second row is the time required to perform a single inference. The last row is the fuzzy logical inferences per second (FLIPS) measured for ach device. There is a large gap in run time between the ASIC and software approaches even if we resort to a specialized fuzzy microprocessor. As for design time and cost, these two approaches represent two extremes. An ASIC approach is extremely expensive. It is, therefore, an important research topic to design a specialized computing architecture for fuzzy applications that falls between these two extremes both in run time and design time/cost. 오픈 소스 기반의 정찰 및 탐색용 드론 프로그램 개발 (Development of the Program for Reconnaissance and Exploratory Drones based on Open Source)

  • With the recent increase in the development of military drones, they are adopted and used as the combat system of battalion level or higher. However, it is difficult to use drones that can be used in battles below the platoon level due to the current conditions for the formation of units in the Korean military. In this paper, therefore, we developed a program drones equipped with a thermal imaging camera and LiDAR sensor for reconnaissance and exploration that can be applied in battles below the platoon level. Using these drones, we studied the possibility and feasibility of drones for small-scale combats that can find hidden enemies, search for an appropriate detour through image processing and conduct reconnaissance and search for battlefields, hiding and cover-up through image processing. In addition to the purpose of using the proposed drone to search for an enemies lying in ambush in the battlefield, it can be used as a function to check the optimal movement path when a combat unit is moving, or as a function to check the optimal place for cover-up or hiding. In particular, it is possible to check another route other than the route recommended by the program because the features of the terrain can be checked from various viewpoints through 3D modeling. We verified the possiblity of flying by designing and assembling in a form of adding LiDAR and thermal imaging camera module to a drone assembled based on racing drone parts, which are open source hardware, and developed autonomous flight and search functions which can be used even by non-professional drone operators based on open source software, and then installed them to verify their feasibility.

제2형 당뇨병 환자를 위한 자동 맞춤형 셀프케어 프로그램 개발 (The Development of Automated Personalized Self-Care (APSC) Program for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus)

  • Purpose: The study aimed to design and develop an automated personalized self-care (APSC) program for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The secondary aim was to present a clinical protocol as a mixed-method research to test the program effects. Methods: The APSC program was developed in the order of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation according to the software development life cycle, and was guided by the self-regulatory theory. The content validity, heuristics, and usability of the program were verified by experts and patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Results: The APSC program was developed based on goal setting, education, monitoring, and feedback components corresponding to the phases of forethought, performance/volitional control, and self-reflection of self-regulatory theory. Using the mobile application, the participants are able to learn from educational materials, monitor their health behaviors, receive weekly-automated personalized goals and feedback messages, and use an automated conversation system to solve the problems related to self-care. The ongoing two-year study utilizes a mixed method design, with 180 patients having type 2 diabetes mellitus randomized to receive either the intervention or usual care. The participants will be reviewed for self-care self-efficacy, health behaviors, and health outcomes at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months. Participants in the intervention group will be interviewed about their experiences. Conclusion: The APSC program can serve as an effective tool for facilitating diabetes health behaviors by improving patients' self-care self-efficacy and self-regulation for self-care. However, the clinical effectiveness of this program requires further investigation.

자바 웹 앱에서 서블릿 필터와 래퍼를 이용한 컴포넌트 협력 과정 자동 추출 기법 (Automatic Extraction of Component Collaboration in Java Web Applications by Using Servlet Filters and Wrappers)

  • 웹 앱은 빠르게 진화하며 나날이 복잡해지고 있다. 이에 따라 웹 앱의 검증(validation & verification)이 웹 앱의 개발 및 유지보수를 위해 더욱 중요해 지고 있다. 효율적인 검증을 위해서는 웹 앱 실행 시 일어나는 웹 컴포넌트 사이의 협력 과정(collaboration)에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 웹 페이지 요청 시 페이지 생성을 위해 실행되는 웹 컴포넌트와 이들의 협력 과정을 자동적으로 추출하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 복잡한 웹 개발 언어 및 기술에 덜 의존하는 동적 기법이며 웹 앱 소스를 블랙박스로 보고 웹 앱의 기능 변화 없이 협력 과정을 추출한다. 오픈 소스 웹 앱에 적용하는 실험을 통해 제안하는 기법의 유효성을 확인할 수 있다.

컴포넌트 메트릭스를 이용한 컴포넌트 설계 재정비 (Improvement of Component Design using Component Metrics)

  • 컴포넌트 기반 개발 방법론은 클래스보다 더 큰 단위인 컴포넌트를 통해 높은 추상화와 재사용을 목표로 하는 개발 방법론이다. 컴포넌트 기반 시스템과 개별 컴포넌트의 품질 향상을 위해서는 개발 이전에 측정하고, 그 결과를 컴포넌트 개발 과정에 반영할 수 있어야 한다. 그러므로 컴포넌트 분석 및 설계 단계에 적용 가능한 컴포넌트 메트릭에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 컴포넌트 설계 정보에 기반한 컴포넌트 응집도, 결합도, 독립도 메트릭을 제안한다. 제안한 메트릭은 컴포넌트의 서비스를 제공하기 위한 오퍼레이션들의 동작 유형의 유사도에 기반 한다. 또한, 기능적으로 응집도가 높으며 복잡도가 낮고 유지 보수가 용이한 컴포넌트 설계가 되도록 하기 위한 클러스터링 기법을 사용한 컴포넌트 재설계 과정을 제안한다. 그리고 개발 이전에 컴포넌트 측정과 컴포넌트 재설계 과정을 통해 바람직한 컴포넌트 설계가 되도록 할 수 있음을 사례 연구를 통해 확인했다.
