  • Purpose: This study was designed to examine the effects of a Halliwick rotation program on improving balance. Methods: Nine healthy females were randomly assigned to a Halliwick rotation program training as an aquatic group (n=9, age=$22.5{\pm}1.3$ years) or to a control group. The aquatic group trained using a Halliwick rotation program (3 times/week, 30 min/day) for 6 weeks. Balance was measured according to stance position: Hard Plate Open Eyes (HOE), Hard Plate Close Eyes (HCE), Soft Plate Open Eyes (SOE) and Soft Plate Close Eyes (SCE). This was done before the training and 3 and 6 weeks after the training. The data were analyzed with the SPSS Win 12.0 program using repeated measure ANOVA. Results: There were significant training-induced differences in SOE and POE (p<0.05), and in SCE and PCE (p<0.05) by Toe pad. There were significant training-induced differences in SOE and POE (p<0.05) by Heel pad after the aquatic rotation exercise program. Conclusion: The Halliwick rotation program can improve balance.

  • We have been optimized tungsten(W) plug CMP(chemical mechanical polishing) characteristics using two different kinds of component of slurry and two different kinds of pad which have different hardness. The comparison of oxide film roughness on around W plug after polishing has been carried out. And W plug recess for consumable sets and dishing effect at dense area according to the rate of over-polishing has been investigated. Also the analysis of residue on surface after cleaning have been performed. As a experimental result we have concluded that the consumable set of slurry A and hard pad was good for W plug CMP process. After decreasing the rate of chemical reaction of silica slurry and adding two step buffering we could reduce the expanding of W plug void however we are still recognizing to need a more development for those kinds of CMP consumables.

  • In this study, bipolar plates in fuel cells are formed using rubber forming process. The effects of important parameters in rubber forming such as hardness and thickness of rubber pad, speed and pressure of punch that compress blank, and physical property of materials on the channel depth were analyzed. In the soft material sheet Al1050, deeper channels are formed than in materials STS304 and Ti-G5. Formed channel depth was increased when hardness of rubber pad was lower, thickness of rubber pad was high, and speed and pressure of punch were high. It was found the deepest channel was achieved when forming process condition was set with punch speed and pressure at 30 mm/s and 55 MPa, respectively using rubber pad having hardness Shore A 20 and thickness 60 mm. The channel depths of bipolar plates formed with Al1050, STS304 and Ti-G5 under the above process condition were 0.453, 0.307, and 0.270 mm, respectively. There were no defects such as wrinkle, distortion, and crack found from formed bipolar plates.

  • The purpose of this study is to describe the clinical availability of a variety of intraoral local flaps in reconstruction of oral soft tissue defects, Forty patients with oral soft tissue defects were treated by tongue, buccinator, palatal, labial, facial artery musculomucosal, buccal fat pad, and masseter muscle crossover flap. Total 43 intraoral flaps were used to reconstruct a variety of intraoral soft tissue defects, such as oronasal fistula, oroantral fistula, traumatic deformities and other. The age of patients ranged from 7 to 72 years, with mean age of 39.6 years. Follow up period ranged from 2 to 66 months, mean follow up period of 21.6 months. There were 9 complications, of which four were partial necrosis, three infections, one total necrosis, and 1 speech problem. Except for total necrosis, most of the recipient sited healed uneventually without severe morbidity. We consider that a variety of intraoral local flaps can be available for reconstruction of small of moderate large intraoral soft tissue defects.

  • Intracapsular and paraarticular chondroma is a rare benign lesion of the large joints (mostly the knee). We report a case of intracapsular and paraarticular chondroma in the infrapatellar Hoffa’s fat pad that presented as a painful palpable mass in 15-year-old woman. A physical examination revealed a firm, movable and tender mass in the infrapatellar area. Magnetic resonance images showed an ovoid, well-defined, soft tissue mass with focal calcification in the infrapatellar fat pad. The final pathology revealed an intracapsular and paraarticular chondroma.

  • Now a days, immediate implant placement: is becoming one of the popular method. But for the success of this method in implant surgery, initial stability and establishment of sufficient blood supply to the implant placement: areas are very important. Buccal Fat Pad(BFP) has favorable characteristics for the reconstruction of maxillary hard &soft tissue defects. So it has been used for reconstruction of posterior maxillary area or closure of oro-antral area. Using BFP, we could get primary tissue closure without extensive releasing incision during implant surgery and adequate attached gingival after healing of the surgical area. So We report clinical usefulness of BFG during immediate important placement in the posterior maxillary area

  • Soft clay strata can suffer significant settlement or stability problems under building loads. Among the methods proposed to strengthen weak soils is the application of a stone masonry trench (SMT) beneath RC strip foundations (as a masonry pad-stone). Although, SMTs are frequently employed in engineering practice; however, the effectiveness of SMTs on the ultimate bearing capacity improvement of a strip footing rested on a weak clay stratum has not been investigated quantitatively, yet. Therefore, the expected increase of bearing capacity of strip footings reinforced with SMTs is of interest and needs to be evaluated. This study presents a two-dimensional numerical model using the discrete element method (DEM) to capture the ultimate load-bearing capacity of a strip footing on a soft clay reinforced with a SMT. The developed DEM model was then used to perform a parametric study to investigate the effects of SMT geometry and properties on the footing bearing capacity with and without the presence of surcharge. The dimensions of the SMTs were varied to determine the optimum trench relative depth. The study showed that inclusion of a SMT of optimum dimension in a soft clay can improve the bearing capacity of a strip footing up to a factor of 3.5.

  • Retromolar pad is one of anatomical landmarks to use clinically for determining of specific occlusal plane level in edentulous patients and is inherently a soft tissue mass; located at the distal end of mandible and should be covered with denture. The shapes of retromolar pad show variability because it might be inevitable to be resultant forms from healing and remodeling process after the extraction of last molars. Considerations would be focused on those resultant shapes and classification with anatomical relationships and clinical significances.

  • Distal extension partial dentures are supported by both the relatively rigid teeth and the resilient mucosa. So impression techniques of residual alveolar ridge in case of distal extension partial denture have particular importance in order to broad distribution of the masticatory force. McLean recognized the need for recording the tissues supporting distal extension partial denture base in functional form to equalize the resilient and non-resilient support, and this was called functional impression. Many investigators proposed various techniques of the functional impression for a distal extension partial denture, but only a little studies were performed about displacement of soft tissue under distal extension partial denture base. The purpose of this study is to investigate the amount of vertical displacement of the soft tissue under distal extension partial denture base by different functional impression techniques. Impression techniques used were Z.O.P. Impression, Selective Tissue Placement Impression, Functional Relining Impression. Measurement of the vertical displacement of soft tissue were made with Depth Gauge and Measuring Platform. A Anatomic Impression was used as a control. The results were tested statistically using 3 way ANOVA and Scheffe test. The followings were the results obtained from this study. 1. The greatest amount of soft tissue displacement was observed in the center of the retromolar pad. 2. No significant differences were found between the crest of alveolar ridge and the buccal shelf area. 3. The greatest soft tissue displacement was observed in Functional Relining Impression using Iowa wax, and the least displacement was observed in Selective Tissue Placement Impression using murcaptan rubber base. 4. No significant differences were found between finger pressure and biting pressure in Z.O.P. Impression, but greater displacement was observed by biting pressure than finger pressure in Functional Reling Impression.
