Titanoalumino silicalite (TAS) was prepared hydrothermally, and the effects of synthesis parameters such as silica/alumina sources, $SiO_2/TiO_2$ ratio, and aging treatment were investigated. The structure, crystal size, and shape were examined by XRD and SEM, and the extent of titanium incorporation into the zeolite framework was examined using UV-vis DRS spectroscopy. For TAS preparation, aging of ca. 24h was essential, and the faster crystallization rates were achieved with Cab-O-Sil than with Ludox or TEOS as a silica source. In addition, the higher crystallinity and faster crystallization rate were obtained using sodium aluminate as an aluminum source.
The effect of synthesis condition, type of starting materials, mole ratio, mixing. aging, and crystallization temperature and time, on the size of FAU-type zeolite has been studied. Different mixing route may lead to the different phase of zeolite even with the same starting materials. In general, the size of particles is smaller after aging, especially at lower aging temperature. Two step mixture gel preparation method resulted to not only the reduction of crystallization time but also that of particle size, but without the aging of two mixture gels before the preparation of the overall gel in the second step, only the crystallization time was reduced, not the particle size. The FAU-type zeolite with average particle size 0.4$\mu$m and BET surface area 838 $m^2$/g was obtained from starting materials of liquid sodium silicate, sodium aluminate, and sodium hydroxide with two step preparation of mixture gel, aging of the mixture gels in two steps, which effectively reduced the crystallization time and particle size.
In this study, inorganic flocculant with biodegradable polymer flocculant was usedfor microalgae harvest. The aim of this study was to optimize the concentration of inorganic flocculant, the concentration of biodegradable polymer flocculant and reaction volume for decreasing the amounts of flocculant and obtaining the suitable pH range for seawater by response surface methodology. The flocculation of three marine microalgae, Chlorella ellipsoidea, Dunaliella bardawil, and Dunaliella tertiolecta, using inorganic flocculants and biodegradable polymer flocculants was investigated. The results indicated that the optimal flocculant quantity showed 0.1 g/L of ferric chloride, 7.5 g/L of chitosan on Chlorella ellipsoidea. In the case of Dunaliella bardawil, the optimal flocculant quantity showed amount of ferric sulfate more than 0.12 g/L and chitosan more than 0.75 g/L. In the case of Dunaliella tertiolecta, the optimal flocculant quantity showed 1.0 g/L of sodium aluminate, 0.75 g/L of chitosan.
Al2O3 positively charged nanofiltration composite membrane was successfully prepared with aluminate coupling agent (ACA) as modifier, sodium bisulfite (NaHSO3) and potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) as initiator and methacryloyloxyethyl trimethylammonium chloride (DMC) as crosslinking monomer. The surface of the membrane before grafting and after polymerization were characterized by SEM and FT-IR. Three factor and three-level orthogonal experiments were designed to explore the optimal conditions for membrane preparation, and the optimal group was successfully prepared. The filtration experiments of different salt solutions were carried out, and the retention molecular weight was determined by polyethylene glycol (PEG). The results showed that the polymerization temperature had the greatest effect on the rejection rate, followed by the reaction time, and the concentration of DMC had the least effect on the rejection rate. The rejection rates of CaCl2, MgSO4, NaCl and Na2SO4 in the optimal group were 83.8%, 81.3%, 28.1% and 23.6% (average value), respectively. The molecule weight cut-off of 90% (MWCO) of the optimal group was about 460, which belongs to nanofiltration membrane.
The mechanism of hydrothermally synthesizing Na-A zeolite from siliceous mudstone at a $Na_2O/SiO_2$ ratio of 0.6, a $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ 2.0 and a $H_2O/Na_2O$ 119 has been observed by IR, DTA, XRD and SEM. This mudstone is a tertiary periodic sedimentary rock and widely spreads around the Pohang area. In the early hydrothermal synthesis at $80^{\circ}C$ in an autoclave, sodium silicate and sodium aluminate were found to be preferentially reacted to generate Na-A type zeolite. Gibbsite and bayerite were also formed due to the presence of extra aluminum oxide in the feedstock. As reaction time in-creased up to 50 h, residual sodium aluminatewas reacted with siliceous mudstone, causing the Na-A zeolite crystal to grow and the hydroxylsodalite to generate. Therefore, in the $14{\sim}50\;h$ synthetic time, Na-A zeolite and hydroxylsodalite were formed. Also, if reaction time passed over 50 h, a part of the Na-A zeolite was finally redissolved and reacted with hydroxylsodalite to synthesize Na-P zeolite, generating porous surface of Na-A zeolite and disappearing hydroxylsodalite.
The influence of acidity in MTT zeolite of different Si/Al molar ratio's on the catalyst activity in methanol-to-olefin (MTO) reaction has been investigated. The Si/Al ratio was controlled with the Al content in the gel when N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-diaminopropane was used as a structure directing agent (SDA). The gel composition was controlled to $20SiO_2$ : 30SDA : x (=0.25~1.25)$NaAlO_2$ : 2NaOH : $624H_2O$, which was subject to the hydrothermal synthesis at 433 K for 4 days. As the composition of sodium aluminate decreased, the particle size of MTT zeolite increased, and also the amount of acid sites decreased. To investigate the catalytic performance, MTO reaction was carried out at 673 K with $1.2h^{-1}$ WHSV. It was found that the H-MTT (1.00Al) catalyst with a Si/Al molar ratio of 24 maintained the methanol conversion over 90% for 900 min.

Regenerative endodontic treatment has the potential to heal a necrotic pulp, which can affect root development in immature teeth. However, several drawbacks and unfavorable outcomes are associated with regenerative endodontic treatment, of which the most significant is coronal discoloration due to the presence of minocycline in triple antibiotic paste and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). To prevent tooth discoloration following pulp treatment, the modified triple antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, metronidazole, clindamycin) were used as canal disinfectants and Retro MTA, a $ZrO_2$-containing calcium aluminate cement, was used to seal the canal. Following access cavity acquisition, the canal was copiously irrigated with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. A modified triple antibiotic paste was then applied to the canal. Once the tooth was asymptomatic (after between 3 and 8 weeks), Retro MTA was carefully placed over the blood clot or a collagen plug. Follow-up radiographs revealed normal periodontal ligament space and root development. In two cases, successful regenerative endodontic treatment of the infected immature tooth, without discoloration, was achieved with disinfection using modified triple antibiotics and Retro MTA sealing.
Bayer process is based on the extraction of aluminium trihydroxide from bauxite. The process is operated with the several criteria such as primary crystal size, particle size distribution and yield etc.. In this study basing on the previous results, an investigation on the effect of chemical grade and smelting grade aluminium trihydroxide precipitation condition were undertaken. As a result, particle size was 42∼44${\mu}$m form chemical grade product and 74∼77${\mu}$m for smelting grade product. The yield and solubility by acid of chemical grade product was higher than smelting grade product. The attrition index of smelting grade product was lower than that of other commercial product because primary crystal size of the smelting grade product was small.
A method of synthesizing $NaAlCO_3(OH)_2$ (Dawsonite) and $KAlCO_3(OH)_2$, was investigated by blowing $CO_2$ gas into sodium and potassium aluminate solutions. The reactions were accomplished at a temperature of 80 to $90^{\circ}C$, while $CO_2$ gas was blowing into the solutions which the molar ratios of $Na_2O/Al_2O_3,\;and\;K_2O/Al_2O_3$ were 6 to 8 and 8 to 10, respectively. It was observed that highly purified Dawsonite and $KAlCO_3(OH)_2$ are produced when Alumina is present in Boehmite at an equilibrium solid phase with a large amount of $HCO_3^-$ in the solutions. The rational formulas of Dawsonite and $KAlCO_3(OH)_2$synthesized under the conditions should be expressed as $NaAlO(OH)HCO_3\;and\;KAlO(OH)HCO_3$, respectively, by IR analysis. In addition, electron microscopic observation also indicated that Dawsonite in a fibrous crystal and $KAlCO_3(OH)_2$ in a needleshaped crystal.
The acid catalytic reactions of toluene with n-propylalcohol were investigated and the adsorption experiments of dialkylbenzene isomers were carried out at 100$^{\circ}C$ over modified HZSM-5 zeolites. ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction using 4-propylammonium ion, sodium aluminate and colloidal silica etc., and several zeolite catalysts, including H-, K-, Sr-, P-Mg-HZSM-5, H-Y and H-mordenite, were prepared by conventional methods. The main reaction products of toluene with n-propylalcohol over HZSM-5 catalyst include not only xylenes, propyltoluenes, but also ethyltoluenes and high para-selectivity among dialkylbenzene isomers was observed on P-Mg-HZSM-5 zeolite. The diffusion coefficients of various p-dialkylbenzenes are nearly the same, about 1 ${times}$ 10$^{-10}$ cm$^2$/sec and that of m-xylene was about one tenth of o-xylene. These reaction and adsorption characteristics were interpreted in the light of the shape-selectivity related to related to the zeolite pore structure and the zeolitic acidity.
