The nationwide survey of 1,200 adults aged over 20 was conducted, and the data was analyzed by PASW statistics 17.0. One of the awareness variables was the degree of the consent to the preservation of the public beneficial function. This variable was segmented by the interest on related information, the criteria of buying agricultural products, occupation and age. And the other awareness variable was the willingness to pay for the preservation of the public beneficial function. This variable was segmented by the education, occupation, income and the experience of living in rural areas. According to the results, some suggestions for improving the social awareness on the public beneficial function of agriculture and rural areas were discussed.

  • This research was intended to investigate how risk perception and risk reduction behavior by consumers differ according to different product characteristics of clothing. The responses of 318 female college students living in Seoul and surrounding vicinities were collected and analyzed. Inner wear, blue-jean pants, coat were selected as representing each clothing product characteristics. Frequencies distribution, regression and correlation coefficient were utilized for statistical analysis. Results are as follows. 1. The type of perceived risk and risk reduction behavior differed according to product characteristics of clothing. Physical and performance risk were more highly perceived for the purchase of innerwear. However, for the purchase of jean pants and coat, socio-psycho-logical and economic risk were also perceived highly because the rate of fashion change, social symbolism, and coordination with other clothing items become more important characteristics. To reduce perceived risk, dependency on past purchase experiences and shop-ping were mostly preferred method regardless of product characteristics of clothing. 2. Risk type as determinant variables for predicting overall risk differed according to product characteristics of clothing. But fashionability and usefulness were common determinant risk variables, which identifies typical characteristics of clothing product.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the current state of social activist behavior of social workers, and to confirm the historic concern within social work that the continued striving to become more professionalized will decrease or destroy its commitment to social activism and to serve for the poor. Concerned with first question, this study, based on survey data, finds that social worker's activist orientation is not low, but their level of actual participation is not high, and they favor a consensus strategy rather than conflict one. In regard to the relationship between professionalization and social activism, it is found that professionalization variables are not a consistent predictor in explaining social workers' activist behavior. Rather social workers' socio-economic characteristics variables and the kinds of agency and client they are working for are found to be more important factors. So it cannot be said that professionalization is not compatible with social activism as far as this study is concerned.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of brand name on perception of quality by social status variables [socio-economic status(s.e.s.), social mobility, and status inconsistencyl. Perception of quality of 2 clothing items was investigated in relation to brand name. The subjects were 606 homemakers, 30-40 years of age, living in Seoul. The influence of brand name on perception of quality was measured by 2 stimuli each out of 4 samples. The data was analyzed by ANOVA, Discriminant Analysis and t-test. Results showed that 1) the effect of influence of brand name on perception of quality was most evident in the upper S.E.S. class. 2) status inconsistency had no bearing on effect of influence of brand name of quality. 3) the upwardly mobile group evaluated the quality of clothing in terms of brand name.

  • Trip generation is the first step in the conventional four-step model and has great effects on overall demand forecasting, so accuracy really matters at this stage. A linear regression model is widely used as a current trip generation model for such plans as urban transportation and SOC facilities, assuming that the relationship between each socio-economic index and trip generation stays linear. But when rapid urban development or an urban planning structure has changed, socio-economic index data for trip estimation may be lacking to bring many errors in estimated trip. Hence, instead of assuming that a socio-economic index widely used for a general purpose, this study aims to develop a new trip generation model by type based on the market separation for the variables to reflect the characteristics of various zones. The study considered the various characteristics (land use, socio-economic) of zones to enhance the forecasting accuracy of a trip generation model, the first-step in forecasting transportation demands. For a market separation methodology to improve forecasting accuracy, data mining (CART) on the basis of trip generation was used along with a regression analysis. Findings of the study indicated as follows : First, the analysis of zone characteristics using the CART analysis showed that trip production was under the influence of socio-economic factors (men-women relative proportion, age group (22 to 29)), while trip attraction was affected by land use factors (the relative proportion of business facilities) and the socio-economic factor (the relative proportion of third industry workers). Second, model development by type showed as a result that trip generation coefficients revealed 0.977 to 0.987 (trip/person) for "production" 0.692 to 3.256 (trip/person) for "attraction", which brought the necessity for type classifications. Third, a measured verification was conducted, where "production" and "attraction" showed a higher suitability than the existing model. The trip generation model by type developed in this study, therefore, turned out to be superior to the existing one.

  • Purpose: This research aims to provide solutions for human resource problems in public educational institutions to improve employee performance. Research design, data, and methods: The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. Meanwhile, the model used path analysis using Analysis Moment Structure (AMOS) software. Results: Results showed that there was a significant relationship between locus of control and redistribution variables on employee empowerment as well as on employee performance. This result implied that good management through the locus of control and employee redistribution in public organizations could be better to serve the community and organizations. Public change to be superior and demanded by the community to make it a good place to learn. Employees' good behavior and increasing competence can satisfy users of educational and sustainable institutions. Conclusion: To sum up, research on management development of locus of control and employee redistribution is needed to make public organizations, especially those engaged in education. This study provides academic implications by revealing that the locus of control factor and employee redistribution in public organizations are needed to improve institutional services.

  • Objectives: About for twenty years, immigrant women in South Korea have steadily increased due to economic growth and industrialization. According to previous studies in terms of immigrants, subjective socio-economic status(SES) as well as objective SES such as income, occupation and level of education predict health outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine association between subjective social status and perceived health among immigrant women. Methods: We analyzed 12,531 participants from the 2012 National Survey of Multicultural Families. Study variables included subjective SES in Korea, subjective SES in community and perceived health. Control variables were age, household income, employment, education, marital status, ethnicity, language proficiency. For this study, descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: Among immigrant women, after adjusting for control variables, level of education in community was not associated with perceived health. Otherwise, subjective social status in Korea(low subjective social status reference group vs high subjective status : OR 2.056) was associated with perceived health. Conclusions: Immigrant women in Korea would be culturally affected by inherent characteristic rather than social economic status. Through this study, in order to improve health inequality among immigrant women, we should consider developing social supports and networks.
