The purpose of the present study was to describe the expectation and the performance on the housework socialization of the age homemakers and to ivestigate their relationships to the demographic characteristics and the influences of other related factors. 344 homemakers who were older than 45 years and were living in Chunlabuk-do, 1990 were sampled for this study. The data were collected by questionnaire designed by the researcher and analyzed by using frequency, one-way ANOVA analysis of variance, t-test, and multiple regression analysis. The major findings were as follows ; 1) The aged homemakers' housework socialization score was higher than the average, The score of the expectation was higher than one of the present performance. Scores for the utilization of the household equipments and the utilization of employes's services were higer comparing to those for other variables of the performance and the expectation respectively. 2) There was the significant differences in the each of the present performance varibles related to th housework socialization among the following demographic varables ; Age of homemakers, years of marriage, education, residence area, types of housing, monthly income, and level of housework equipment possession. 3) There was the significant differences in the expectation on the housework socialazation among the following variables ; age of homemakers, years of marriage, education, monthly income, and types of housing. The significant differences were found in the utilization of grouped, the utilization of the commodity, the utilization of the household equipments as subvariables of housework socialization, among age of homemakers, years of marriage, and level of education, The significant differences were found in the utilization of employee's services among age of homemakers, types of family, and level of health. 4) The level of education and monthly income significantly influenced on the present performance of the house work socialization. Years of marriage, significantly influenced on the utilization of grouped, education on the utilization of the commodity.(the utilization of the producted materials) and the utilization of employee's services and monthly income on the utilization of the household equipments (the utilization of the household appliances, and equipments). The years of marriage and education significantly influenced on the expectation on the housework socialization in the order, Age of homemakers and years of marriage significantly influenced on the utilization of grouped, the utilization of the commodity, the utilization of employee's services and age of homemakers and monthly income on the utilization of the household equipments.
The purpose of this study is to explore how security science graduates in casinos are socialized into the workplace. Participants for this study were seven security guards who work for two of three casinos for foreign customers in the city of Seoul. All the participants majored in the security science in colleges. They had 1 to 5 years of work experience. Their main job responsibilities were deterrent to crimes and watch for impending danger in the casinos. A variety of qualitative data collection techniques for this study included formal and informal interviews, stimulated-recall interview, observations, and field notes. Analytic induction and constant comparison were utilized to analyze data. Triangulating and member checks were employed to enhance trustworthiness. The findings of this study were as follow: Firstly, In acculturation, sports experience and media attraction were revealed as factors. Secondly, In professional socialization, college education and senior students in the program were found. Lastly, organizational socialization, Difficulty of relationship, lack of risk management training, lack of team cohesion, pride himself as a security guard, and unclear evaluation system. In conclusion, a variety of influential factors appeared through his occupational socialization even though there were negative and positive factors.
It has been said that there were many problems in a social welfare institution. Community welfare in Japan is being presented as an alternative solving these problems and underlying theories are deinstitutionalization, normalization, and community care. Recently, in Korea, these alternatives are connected with the logic that social welfare institutions are useless. But if we think the inborn duty of the social welfare institution, we can know the logic problem of these theories. Also, 'the socialization theory of social welfare institutions' has been presented as a solving method. But studies in Korea are having a partiality only to opening to community and are researched separately from community welfare. Under these problem perceptions, this study examined the construction contents of the community welfare in Japan, the relation of community welfare and social welfare institutions, the relation of the community welfare and the socialization theory of social welfare institutions, and the concept and content of the socialization theory of social welfare institutions. This study investigated the discussions in Japan, for studies in Korea are generally based on those of Japan and the domestic community welfare policy has been influenced immensely by Japan. The result of this study is as follows. Firstly, not the social welfare institution in a category of community welfare is excluded, but is prescribed as an essential post, a premise condition, and a composition post of the community welfare. Secondly, the socialization theory of social welfare institutions is also discussed in a category of the community welfare and in the side of community welfare development. Thirdly, the socialization theory of social welfare institutions is presented in the side of not only opening to community, but also a basic practice theory of the social welfare institution reformation including that.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of self-esteem and consumer socialization agents on rational consumption patterns of middle school students. Using a convenient sampling method, the data were collected from middle schools in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeonnam, and Gwangju and a total of 412 copies were analyzed. The descriptive statistics, Chronbach's α, t-test, and stepwise regression analysis were performed using the SPSS and the results were as follows. First, rational consumption behavior was 3.18 and self-esteem was 3.54 on a 5-Likert scale. As for consumer socialization agents, parents was the highest at 3.13, followed by school 2.83, mass media 2.78 and peers 2.73. Second, the average comparison of rational consumption behavior and consumer socialization agents by gender showed that there was no gender difference in rational consumption behavior, but in the case of consumer socialization, girls were higher than boys. Third, examining the influence of self-esteem and consumer socialization agents on rational consumption behavior, it was found that the amount of money, mass media, and peers showed an negative effects on rational consumption behavior, while self-esteem and parents showed positive effects on rational consumption behavior. In this regard, middle school students need to have more self-esteem and guide their peers so that their influence can be positive in the home economics class in order to become consumers with rational consumption behavior.
This study aimed to understand communicative and socialization practices of immigrant bilingual families in everyday learning situations by examining interactions between parents and children in the United States. Drawn on language socialization theory and socio-cultural factors influencing immigrants, this study explored how three Korean American mothers struggled as they helped their children with homework by interviewing the mothers and observing mother-child interaction during homework time. The study paid attention to the emotional values of immigrant parents that they tried to teach their children who are members in two distinctive communities, such as Korean American and mainstream American. The findings showed that parental socialization practices had effects on children's emotional and social competence and at the same time the socialization process was bidirectional. Mothers started with Korean values, but they faced challenges with the English language, different demands for American homework, and children's rejection of their attempts. Mothers needed to change their strategy and borrow American ways of keeping emotional distance from their children by acknowledging their independence. Their struggles are discussed with attention to their language choice and culture.
This study aims to empirically identify how the antecedents of seafarers' social identity(i.e., socialization, social support, perceived organizational support, status in organization) affect turnover intention via social identity. In order to achieve this objective, this study conducted covariance structure analysis on the questionnaire data collected from 362 seafarers. The main results are as follows: First of all, as social identity of seafarers increases, their turnover intention decreases. Secondly, as socialization, social support, and perceived organizational support increases, seafarers' social identity also increases. Finally, while socialization and social support decrease turnover intention only through social identity, perceived organizational support decreases turnover intention both directly and indirectly via social identity.
The aim of this study is classify knowledge work style management for knowledge management. It is based on the knowledge creation model of Nonaka by subdividing types of knowledge workers. It was designed to create a model for application to the actual environment of management. Nonaka suggested the process of socialization, externalization, combination, internalization that the knowledge of a person creates new knowledge through the interaction of implicit knowledge and explicit knowledge. This research demonstrated that knowledge worker of 16 forms by applying SECI model to the main function and the subordinate functions again. This study aims at achieving a higher outcome by applying the ability of existing knowledge worker to subdivided expert field efficiently. Suggested styles of knowledge worker in this research are classified into craftsman style, pragmatic style, combination style, developed style knowledge worker who creates knowledge by selecting socialization as the function and again by selecting externalization combination, internalization as subordinate functions. And they were classified into creation style, insight style, strategy style according to practical application worker and function which is selecting externalization as the main function and socialization as the subordinate functions. They were classified into future style, innovation style, analysis style, judgement style knowledge worker who are selecting combination as the main function and experiment style, intuition style, research style, learning style worker who are selecting internalization as the main function. They suggested the characteristics and cases of each type.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the mentoring function and its levels as perceived by the fashion merchandisers and designers in the fashion industry who are playing major roles in providing organizational socialization for mentees. A survey questionnaire was developed and conducted among 200 fashion merchandisers and designers in Seoul. For data analysis, the SPSS 10.0 program was employed and frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, recurrence analysis, T-test, and ANOVA were used to test the research questions. The results were as follows: (1) Although the overall level of the mentoring function recognized by the fashion merchandisers and designers in the study appeared to be high, there were no significant differences by their demographic attributes. (2) The level of the mentoring function acknowledged by the respondents demonstrated substantial differences according to their perception by the personal attributes and the degree of openness. (3) The level of the mentoring function and organizational socialization perceived by the respondents had a significant correlation. As the level of perceived mentoring function of the respondents increased, it appeared that the degree of their job satisfaction and organizational commitment increased. On the other hand, their role ambiguity and turnover intention decreased.
This paper outlines the findings of a consumer survey conducted in 1996 and 2001 by the University of Bonn, Germany, across 15 European countries. The survey involved a sample of 3,300 respondents in 1996 and around 11,000 respondents in 2001, throughout all 15 EU countries. Children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 17 were surveyed on their consumption habits and their attitudes towards the environment. The paper outlines the key findings on "the process of socialization with money". Children come to appreciate the importance of money even before their first day at school. Even young children know you sometimes need cash to fulfil dreams. But the chance to experiment with money for real only comes when children first receive pocket money, usually from their parents. Later, in adolescence, consumer pressure starts to make an impact and it becomes more difficult to make ends meet. Spare time or holiday jobs help top up pocket money and enable adolescents to keep out of debt. This paper reports on a long term comparative study throughout the European Union among children and adolescents, analysed by country, age group and gender. The paper discusses the places young consumers can turn to in trying to fulfil their growing consumer needs. It also examines how much money is at their disposal. It then concludes by considering the influence of "financial socialization" on how young people deal with money.
This paper explored the academic socialization of a group of Mongolian college students, learning Korean as their L3 (Third Language), by focusing on their uses of an electronic communication channel. From a perspective of the continua of bi-literacy, this case study investigated how Mongolian students who had limited exposure to a Korean learning community overcame academic challenges through the use of a written communication channel as a tool in the socialization process. Data were collected mainly through three methods: written products, interviews, and questionnaires. The results from this study were as follows. Interactional opportunities for these minority students were seriously constrained during the classroom practices in a Korean-speaking classroom. They also described the lack of communicative competence in Korean and the limited roles played by L2 (English) communication as key barriers to classroom practices. However, students' ways of engaging in electronic interactions differed widely in that they were able to broaden interactional circles by communicating their expertise and difficulties with their Korean peers through the electronic channel. More importantly, the communication pattern of "L2-L2/L3-L3" (on a L2-L3 continuum) emerging from data demonstrated how these students used a written channel as a socialization tool to mediate their learning process in a new community of learning. This study argues that a written communication channel should be taken as an essential part of teaching practices especially for foreign students who cannot speak Korean fluently in multi-cultural classes.
