A Public Perception Study on the new word "Corona Blue":Focusing on Social Media Big Data Analysis

  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to the provision of basic data for psychological quarantine policy and counseling by examining the public perception of the "corona blue" phenomenon through analysis of social media big data. To do this, key words related to the word 'Corona Blue' were derived and analyzed using the big data analysis program 'Textom'. As a result of the analysis, words such as 'Corona 19', 'depression', 'problem' and 'overcome' were derived as key words. For the analysis results,"pride and awarenes as the public perception of Corona 19", "depression and anxiety as a group trauma as the corona blue phenomenon", "spreading a psychological quarantine culture and demanding social healing as the perception of overcoming corona Blue," and "hope for return to daily life and changes in daily life as the perception of post corona" were discussed. In conclusion, we have identified the need for active psychological support from the community By revealing that Corona Blue is a depression as a group trauma. At this time, it is confirmed that it is necessary to prioritize social healing and psychological quarantine for the main risk groups such as youth or the vulnerable, who are the socially weak.

나노기술 응용식품에 대한 리스크 커뮤니케이션 전략 및 사회적 수용 방안 모색을 위한 대학생의 인식도 및 구매의도 분석 (Analysis on the Perception and Willingness to Purchase of College Students for Strategy for Risk Communication and Social Acceptance of Nanotechnology-Based Foods)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and willingness to purchase of nanotechnology-based foods to find out the strategy for risk communication and social acceptance. The data were collected from 253 college students in Yeungnam region through a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted by SPSS Windows V.20.0. The level of concern about nanotechnology was relatively low, and the level of the perception about necessity for the development of nanotechnology-based foods was average. In addition, the respondents showed somewhat positive thoughts for the development of nanotechnology-based foods with beneficial effect, but they were worried about the risk for it. Percentage of correct answers on knowledge of nanotechnology and nanotechnology-based foods was not high, and the level of willingness to purchase them was average. According to the result of multiple regression analysis, factors affecting the willingness to purchase of nanotechnology-based foods were concern about health, perception about importance of food safety, perception about necessity for the development of nanotechnology-based foods, and perception about the development of nanotechnology-based foods with beneficial effect. On the basis of these results, it is necessary for consumers to offer the exact and reliable information on nanotechnology-based foods.

An empirical study of the risk-benefit perceptions between the nuclear and non-nuclear groups towards the nuclear power plant in Bangladesh

  • Public perception of benefit over risk is the de facto factor in planning, construction, operation, halting, or phase-out of a nuclear power plant in any country. Even if there are multiple pathways of perceiving risk/benefit among different stakeholders, the perception of nuclear and non-nuclear groups needs to be individually tracked to help understand sectoral influence. Related studies were basically performed between the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and non-STEM groups. However, there are no such studies between the nuclear and non-nuclear groups. This study investigated the risk-benefit perceptions between the nuclear group (N = 102) and the non-nuclear group (N = 467) using survey data to measure their stake and identify the underlying factors by validating the hypotheses, through descriptive analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results showed that risk perception is significantly high in the non-nuclear group (as the P-value is > 0.001 to <0.01) while the benefit perception is slightly low in the nuclear group (as the P-value is > 0.01 to <0.05). The non-nuclear group was significantly influenced by risk perception due to a lack of involvement in nuclear activities. Notably, the nuclear group is less interactive in disseminating nuclear energy benefits to the non-nuclear group. Surprisingly, misperceptions and lack of confidence about the benefits of nuclear energy also exist in the nuclear group. The study emphasizes debunking nuclear myths in the nuclear and non-nuclear groups through meaningful interactions and demands effective public awareness-building programs by competent authorities for the growth of the nuclear industry.

한국인의 농산물 농약 오염 불안도 연구 -2008년도 사회조사를 바탕으로- (Food Safety Perceptions on Pesticide Contamination among Koreans -Based on the 2008 Social Survey-)

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the level of risk perception related to pesticide contamination of food products and associated sociodemographic factors, as well as investigate the association with environmental pollution preventive behaviors. Methods: Based on data from Social Survey conducted in 2008 among a nationally representative sample of the population 15 years or older, we estimated proportions and 95% confidence intervals of the risk perception of pesticide contamination of food products. Logistic regression analyses were used to analyze the effects of sociodemographic status on risk perception. Results: Among respondents, those who feel anxious about the risks of pesticide contamination of domestic food products accounted for 40.4%, whereas the proportion rose to 87.0% with imported food products. These numbers showed that levels of anxiety about the pesticide contamination of imported food products were ranked at the top, and those for domestic products were at the bottom of the list of all environmental pollutants examined in the survey. Significantly related factors to anxiety about pesticide contamination of food products included women, the 40-50 age group, university graduates, married, non-manual employment, having school-aged children, and owning one's own home. The population attempting to prevent environmental pollution showed higher levels of anxiety about pesticide contamination of food products than did those who were not taking such steps. Conclusion: Compared to other forms of environmental pollution, Koreans show the highest levels of anxiety about pesticide contamination of imported food products. Therefore, it is necessary to establish appropriate regulations and transparent risk communication with the public about the safety of imported food.

평결 판단에서 웰스효과의 확인과 평결 오류 위험성 지각의 영향 (Identification of Wells Effect and Effects of Risk Perception of Wrong Verdict)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 배심원 제도를 사용하는 미국의 민사 모의배심 상황에서 발견된 웰스효과(Wells effect, Niedermeier, Kerr & Messé,1999; 배심원들이 통계적 증거에 기초하여 피고가 사건의 책임이 있을 주관적 확률을 높게 추론하였음에도 불구하고,유죄 평결 내리기를 주저하는 현상)가 우리나라의 민사 모의배심 상황에서도 나타나는지를 반복 검증하고, 이 효과에 대한 새로운 설명기제의 하나로서 '평결 오류 위험성 지각' 가설의 적절성을 검증하는데 있다. 먼저, 실험 1에서는 Wells(1992)의 실험에서 사용된 실험조건별 시나리오들인 '타이어자국' 조건 시나리오와 '타이어자국-믿음' 조건 시나리오를 우리나라 실정에 맞게 번안 및 수정하여 대학생 46명에게 실시하였다. 실험 1에서, 모의배심원들은 두 조건 모두에서 비슷한 정도로 피고의 유죄에 대한 주관적 확률을 높게 추정하였으나, 타이어자국-믿음 조건에 비해 타이어자국 조건에서 유죄 평결을 현저히 주저하였다. 이 결과는 실험 1이 한국 참가자를 대상으로 웰스효과를 반복 검증하였음을 의미한다. 실험 2는 웰스효과에 대한 새로운 대안적 설명을 제안하고 검증하기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위해 실험 1에서 사용한 '타이어자국' 조건의 시나리오에 '평결 오류 위험성 지각'을 높거나 낮게 조작하는 문구를 추가한 두 시나리오를 만들어 조건별로 비교하였다. 대학생 70명을 대상으로 실험 2가 실시되었고, 그 결과로 평결 오류 위험성 지각이 낮거나 높게 조작된 조건 간에 유죄의 주관적 확률에서는 차이가 없었지만, 평결 오류 위험성 지각이 낮은 조건보다 높은 조건에서 유죄평결 비율이 유의하게 낮았다는 것을 보여 주었다. 이 실험 2의 결과는 오판으로 인해 피고가 입게 될 피해의 크기를 배심원들이 작게 지각하는 경우보다 크게 지각하는 경우에 배심원들이 유죄 평결 내리기를 꺼려하는 웰스효과가 더 강하게 나타난다는 것을 보여주었다. 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구에 대한 시사점이 논의에서 다루어졌다.

휴대전화 전자파 위험인식과 리스크커뮤니케이션 - 여성의 위험인식을 중심으로 - (A Study on Risk Communication and Perception of Electromagnetic Waves from Cellular Phones - Focus on Risk Perception of Women -)

  • 본 연구는 휴대전화 전자파의 인체유해 가능성에 대한 위험인식을 성별 및 연령에 따라 심리적 요인이 어떻게 차이가 발생하는지 원인을 분석하였다. 위험인식의 측정은 전국 6대 도시에 거주하고 있는 20대 이상 남녀 1,001명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 분석 결과 성별에 따른 위험인식의 차이는 여성이 남성보다 휴대전화 전자파에 대한 위험인식이 높았으며, 여성의 경우 50대의 위험인식이 가장 높았다. 특히 연령 및 성별에서의 위험인식 차이는 심리적 요인의 영향에서 발견하였고 그 중요성을 실증했다는데 이론적 함의를 찾을 수 있었다. 일반인은 위험인식을 심리적 요인과 같은 일상의 경험 등의 축적을 통해 위험을 인식하기 때문에 위험을 둘러싼 사회적 갈등을 완화하기 위해서는 일반인이 어떻게 위험을 인식하는지에 대한 올바른 이해에 기초한 위험커뮤니케이션을 제공해야 해야 할 것이다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 우리사회가 어떻게 휴대전화 전자파에 대한 위험을 판단하고, 의사소통해 나갈 것인지에 대한 개입전략연구의 기반을 제공하고자 하였다.

The Effect of Perceived Risk, Hedonic Value, andSelf-Construal on Attitude toward Mobile SNS

  • This study investigates the effect of perceived risk on attitude toward mobile Social Network Services (SNSs). First, we understand that perceived risk of SNSs is a multidimensional concept, and we study the relationship between attitude and perceived risk such as social risk, performance risk, and privacy risk in SNS environments. Subsequently, the relationships between these multidimensional concepts of perceived risk and attitude are investigated. The result indicates that social, performance, and privacy risk have negative effects on attitude. In addition, the moderated effect of individual characteristic variables such as hedonic value and self-construal are confirmed as mitigating factors that alleviate the negative impact of perceived risk. The Findings show that customers who perceive SNSs to be risky are more likely to have a negative attitude toward SNSs. However, the negative impact of perceived risk on their attitude toward SNSs is alleviated in customers with high hedonic value. Similarly, the negative impact of perceived risk on their attitude toward SNS is weaker with customers in interdependent self-construal. This paper presents effective segmentation variables, such as consumer's motivation (hedonic value) and psychological variable (self-construal), which mitigate the risk perception of customers. Therefore, it provides practical guidelines for the marketing managers in terms of who to target and what kind of strategies to implement in terms of these segmentation variables to approach consumers more efficiently.

나노기술에 있어서의 위험과 위험인지 (Risk and Risk Perception of Nanotechnology)

  • 나노기술은 현재 대부분의 연구 및 산업 선진국에서 미래의 가장 영향력 있는 기술로 간주되고 있다. 이런 이유로 여러 나라의 정부는 미래의 기술경쟁에서 앞서 나가기 위해 나노기술 연구에 상당한 인적, 물적, 자원을 투여하고 있다. 그러므로 나노기술 연구는 다른 곳에 쓰일 수도 있었을 공적자원의 사용과 관련된 책무성을 요구받는 분야가 된다. 저자는 나노기술 연구의 책무성을 적절하게 지켜내기 위해서는 위험만이 아니라 시민의 위험인지도 반드시 고려해야 한다고 주장한다. 흔히 위험인지는 객관적 확률로 주어지는 위험에 비해 사람에 따라 달라지고, 시간에 따라 변화하고 극단적으로 양분되는 경향을 보인다는 근거에서 기술연구 정책에서 정당한 고려사항이 될 수 없다고 여겨진다. 하지만 저자는 위험인지가 대중이 특정 방향으로 행동하게 만들 수 있다는 의미에서 유효하고, 많은 사람이 공유한다는 의미에서 상호주관적이며, 민주주의 사회에서 필수적으로 반영되어야 한다는 점에서 고려대상으로서의 정당성을 획득한다고 주장한다.

  • Risk has been considered as one of very important topics in traditional consumer behavior theoretically and practically since its tendency of minimizing errors rather than maximizing utilization in addition to its intuitive appealing with very high explaining power. In addition to a traditional view of risk, importance of risk in online transactions such as Internet banking is due to technical instability in security of the Internet as well as temporal and spatial separation of transaction partners. Therefore, risk in online transactions should be analyzed by a very comprehensive way since it is very inherent in the Internet. The objective of this study is to suggest a research model for explaining the use of online transactions in some risk related variables including risk results, security result, perceived security, and social influence and show its validity by applying it to Internet banking users. In result, hypotheses suggested by our research model are shown to be valid ones.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze consumers' perceived risk which is shown in the process of purchase phase and consumption phase for the counterfeits of fashion luxury brands and to analyze the interrelationship of each type of perceived risk. The research method of the study used a qualitative approach. 6 informants were selected and then an in-depth interview was held with them. Through this process the data on the perceived risk for counterfeits were collected and analyzed. The results of the study are as follows; The perceived level of psychological risk including counterfeits exposure was extremely high; besides, economic risk and performance risk were also perceived. On the contrary, the perceived level of social risk and fashionability loss were relatively low. The risk perception for counterfeits appeared not only on the purchase phase but also on the consumption phase, and when perceived risk existed on the consumption phase, it had an influence on the level of perceived risk on the next purchase phase. However the psychological risk was continuously perceived on both purchase and consumption phase, even if it did not exist on the consumption phase. Psychological risk, economic risk and performance risk were not independent but interdependent. Moreover, the entire level of perceived risk could be controlled by reducing the level of other perceived risks when a certain type of risk was highly perceived.
