The Influence of Super-Centers' Social Responsibility Activities and Authenticity On Consumer Attitude and Purchase Intention

  • Purpose - In this study, corporate social responsibility activities as perceived by customers visiting super-centers and the influence of the authenticity of such social responsibility activities on trust have been examined while attempting to verify how trust would influence consumers' attitude and purchase intention. Research design, data, and methodology - For data collection, a questionnaire survey has been conducted on 200 consumers who would visit super-centers, and 161 effective samples have been used for the final analysis. Methodologies such as Cronbach's α, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling were used. Results - Among corporate social responsibility activities, legal responsibility in particular has turned out to influence consumers rather greatly. Thus, law observance has turned out to be a necessity rather than merely an economic or ethical responsibility; as for trust, trust in the product has turned out to exert more influence on consumers than trust in the enterprise. Conclusions - Corporate social responsibility activities can mean that the complete fulfillment of natural and proper corporate responsibility will secure consumer trust, thus influencing consumer attitude and purchase intention positively.

  • The purpose of this study was first, to examine the causes for the recent acceleration in the increase of textile/apparel waste and the current practices for reducing waste in the global textile and apparel industry; and second, to explore the influence of sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends. Extensive literature on sustainable apparel and sustainable and socially responsible practices by global textile and apparel firms was reviewed in conducting this research. First, an accelerated fashion diffosion speed due to fast fashion was focused on as a cause for the increase in textile/apparel waste whereas mass customization was focused on as a potential solution for reducing waste. Then, the influence of the social trend toward sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends was discussed, particularly the trends toward green products and recycled fashion, the trend against using real for or leather, and minimum-fabric-waste fashion in design and product development. This study furthers consumers' understanding of sustainability and social responsibility related to fashion trends and hopefully increases their consciousness in becoming socially responsible consumers. This study will also contribute to better decision-making in apparel and textile firms to produce sustainable fashion products.

ISO 26000 적용을 위한 의료기관의 사회적 책임활동에 대한 고찰 (Analysis on CSR of Hospitals for Application of ISO 26000)

  • Objectives : As the management philosophy of hospital social responsibility is diversified, we systematically reviewed the literature to apply ISO 26000 to the monitoring of social responsibility activities in accordance with social needs and changes. Methods : PubMed Database, NDSL and RISS were searched for articles related to CSR based on ISO 26000. The articles were classified according to aims, methods and results. Results : There is a lack of research and development of the CSR tools of hospitals, including human rights, labor practices, and consumer issues, which are parts of the seven key topics of ISO 26000. Conclusions : Based on ISO 26000 as an international standard for social responsibility activities, it is necessary to develop a measurement tool for social responsibility activities that reflects legal and institutional situations of Korean hospitals.

  • 기업을 향한 사회적 책임 요구는 갈수록 높아지고 있다. 기업은 제품, 서비스 품질을 통한 경쟁력 확보 노력만으로는 충성고객을 확보할 수 없다. 고객이 요구하는 사회적 기대를 충족시켜 주기 위해서 적극적으로 행동해야 한다. 이러한 배경하에 본 연구는 기업의 사회적 책임이 기업의 브랜드 성과로 어떻게 연결되는지, 그리고 소비자 개인의 특성에 따른 차이를 살펴보기 위해서 기업의 사회적 책임에 대한 평소의 관심이 어떻게 상호작용하는지에 대한 효과를 검증하기 위한 설문조사를 진행하였다. 연구결과 기업브랜드 이미지와 호감도 형성에 있어서 법률적 책임과 경제적 책임이 주요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인할 수 있었다. 윤리적 책임의 경우는 신뢰 이미지 형성에서 중요한 역할을 하였지만, 성과적 이미지, 혁신 이미지를 형성에는 오히려 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기업의 사회적 책임이 기업브랜드 성과에 미치는 영향에 있어서 사회적 책임에 대한 평소 관심은 조절 효과로서의 영향을 미치지 못한 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 연구는 사행산업으로써 강원랜드의 사회공헌활동(Corporate Social Responsibility)이 지역주민에게 주는 사회 문화적 파급효과에 주목하였다. 특히 문화적으로 소외된 지역인 폐광지역의 주민들에게 문화 활동을 장려하면서 나타난 영향을 고찰하여 앞으로 카지노 산업의 지속성장과 지역사회를 위해 나아가야할 발전적인 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 연구 대상은 폐광지역 내 태백, 고한 사북 지역 중심으로 지역주민 185명이다. 설문조사를 통해 먼저, 응답자의 인구통계학적 특성을 조사하였고 이에 따른 강원랜드에 대한 사회공헌활동 인식 수준과 만족도, 사회 문화적인 영향, 마지막으로 사회공헌활동에 따른 부정적 이미지 쇄신 등에 대해 분석하였다. 조사 결과, 지역주민들은 대체적으로 강원랜드의 사회공헌활동에 대해 인식하고 있었으며, 이에 대한 만족도 역시 높았다. 또한 삶의 질 역시 카지노 개발 이후 좋아졌다고 하였다.

Corporate Social Responsibility in Modern Transnational Corporations

  • Since the beginning of 2015, corporate social responsibility (CSR) models have been changing in connection with the trend towards the transition of joint value creation of corporate activities and consideration of stakeholders' interests. The purpose of the academic paper lies in empirically studying the current practice of social responsibility of transnational corporations (TNCs). The research methodology has combined the method of qualitative analysis, the method of cases of agricultural holdings in emerging markets within the framework of resource theory, institutional theory and stakeholders' theory. The results show that the practice of CSR is integrated into the strategy of sustainable development of TNCs, which determine the methods, techniques and forms of communication, as well as areas of stakeholders' responsibility. The internal practice of CSR is aimed at developing norms and standards of moral behaviour with stakeholders in order to maximize economic and social goals. Economic goals are focused not only on making a profit, but also on minimizing costs due to the potential risks of corruption, fraud, conflict of interest. The system of corporate social responsibility of modern TNCs is clearly regulated by internal documents that define the list of interested parties and stakeholders, their areas of responsibility, greatly simplifying the processes of cooperation and responsibility. As a result, corporations form their own internal institutional environment. Ethical norms help to avoid the risks of opportunistic behaviour of personnel, conflicts of interest, cases of bribery, corruption, and fraud. The theoretical value of the research lies in supplementing the theory of CSR in the context of the importance of a complex, systematic approach to integrating the theory of resources, institutional theory, theory of stakeholders in the development of strategies for sustainable development of TNCs, the practice of corporate governance and social responsibility.

A Retailer's Social Responsibility for Product Scandals : Korea vs Japan

  • Purpose - This research is to examine how different Korean retailers are from Japanese ones, in terms of taking a social responsibility for product scandals. Through a comparative analysis, the authors will provide some implications for retailers in Korea. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on the existing literature studied how retailers as well as manufacturers responded to food poisoning and product scandals, the authors compared Korea with Japan, in terms of taking a social responsibility. Results - As soon as food safety scandals occurred in Japan, a local government quickly ordered Snow Brand to recall and stop producing problematic milk products. In addition, retailers have stopped displaying them on their store shelves to minimize the number of victims. By stopping selling them, Japanese retailers took a social responsibility for product scandals. Conclusions - The authors found that retailers play a very important role in protecting customer rights. Moreover, customers have become more and more aware of the roles of retailers taking a social responsibility for social issues. The research proposes that a government has to develop the laws to protect customers from food poisoning and product safety issues effectively and that boycott campaigns should be legally protected by a government and promoted by customers.

  • 소비 시장이 증가함에 따른 기업의 영향력 증가로 기업의 사회적 책임과 활동 또한 요구되고 있다. 기업의 사회적 책임이란 이익을 목적으로 하던 기업이 이 외에도 인간의 존엄성 및 환경과 같은 공공선을 추구하는 활동으로 정의된다. 본 연구에서는 기업과 소비자 측면으로 나누어 친환경 포장에 대한 필요성을 일깨우고, 기업의 사회적 책임의 개념에 대하여 소개하였다. 또한 국내외 기업의 사례분석을 통하여 현재 기업의 친환경포장 활동을 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로 친환경 포장을 통하여 기업이 사회적 책임을 다해야 하는 이유를 제시하였다.

패션기업의 사회적 책임 활동에 관한 연구 (A study on corporate social responsibility activities of fashion companies)

  • This study reviewed corporate social responsibility activities of fashion companies and discussed strategies of social enterprises. The research was conducted on 6 Korean fashion companies with sales over KRW 1 trillion as of the end of the term in 2015. Corporate social responsibility activities of each company were investigated from economic, social and environmental viewpoints. The results of this study were as follows: First, each company promoted win-win growth, co-existence management, transparent management and ethics management through economic activities. They pursued win-win growth and co-existence management, which aimed to respect and grow with their partners. Also, they ensured transparent management and ethics management to show their moral management. Second, each company conducted various social contribution programs as part of their social activities. Through the programs, they made donations, supported welfare and culture, and practiced voluntary work, local activities, training and equal opportunities. Third, as for environmental activities, each company tried to protect nature through various activities such as donation to environmental organizations, environmental cleanup activities, environmental management from production to disposal, reuse, eco-friendly system, environmental volunteering, etc. Articles on fashion companies' social responsibility activities have an influence on boosting their attitude and image towards businesses.

  • 도서관법과 도서관인 윤리선언은 차별 없는 열린 서비스를 통하여 정보자원으로의 동등한 접근과 이용을 보장하는 사회적 책임을 명시하고 있다. 대학도서관은 누구에게나 차별 없는 정보 접근의 평등과 지적 자유를 보장함으로써 조직, 지역사회, 국가의 문화 발전에 기여하는 사회적 책임을 완수할 수 있다. 본 연구는 도서관법, ISO 26000, IFLA의 LSDP을 기반으로 사회적 책임의 접근 방법을 법적, 이해관계자적, 정보 수요적 측면에서 검토하였다. 아울러 대학도서관의 사회적 책임에 대한 인식이 보급되지 않은 우리나라 대학도서관에 사회적 책임의 개념, 국제적 표준과 그 접근방법을 검토함으로써 사회적 책임에 관한 기초 이론을 제시하였다. 이를 기반으로 사회적 책임의 수행 방안을 제시함으로써 대학도서관의 사회적 책임 활동 시작을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다.
