The purpose of this study is look in to the activities, government posts, and official ranks of the medical personnel by examining Yeongjosillok. Methods : First, I selected historical records containing '醫' in Yeongjosillok. Then, I organized medical officers' name by reading each record. I screened historical records in Yeongjosillok with their names to analyze their activities, government posts, and official ranks. When there was limited information available, I referred to The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Results : I found 262 historical records in Yeongjosillok containing '醫'. Then I found 26 people who served as medical officers in Yeongjosillok. Also, l found that 11 government posts and 7 official ranks were awarded to them throughout the 110 historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Conclusion : Through this study, I was able to examine the detailed activities of unknown medical officers by studying the historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Under the Joseon Dynasty's class-based society, the middle class had various restrictions. However, I found that medical officers that belonged to the middle class received exceptional treatment despite their social status.

  • This research empirically examined the determinants of competitive advantages and performance of Korean film industry from 1996 to 2003 over a sample of 396 movies. Especially, the effects of knowledge-based resources, social capital, product differentiation strategy, and market entry strategy on a film performance were hypothesized and empirically tested. Findings of this study are as follows; First, confirming the importance of knowledge-based resources in film industry, both the superior business track records of producers and the superior artistic track records of directors and actors had positive effects on film performance. Second, supporting social capital hypotheses, while the strong ties between directors and producers had positive effects, the strong ties between directors and actors had negative effects on film performance. Third, confirming the importance of product differentiation strategy, genre differentiation against competing films had positive effects on film performance. Finally, confirming the importance of market entry timing, the number of competing films released following a film opening within a week had negative effects on film performance. The findings of this research suggest that producers, directors, and actors are not only the critical knowledge-based resources to create competitive advantages indeed, but the pattern of relationships among them also systematically influences the film performance. Moreover, it is suggested that film performance may be improved by the proper genre differentiation and opening day selection.

  • Chinyoung(親迎) is one of the detailed procedures of a wedding ceremony, of which the bridegroom visits the bride's home to receive and bring her to his home. And, Procession Illustration (班次圖) is a type of drawing that shows how people of various social classes are arranged in their predetermined positions in a royal ceremony. Thus, 'Chinyoung Procession Illustration(親迎班次圖)' refers to the drawing of the march in the course of Joseon's royal wedding ceremony, in which the bridegroom receives and brings the bride to his home. This paper aims to reconstruct the Chinyoung Procession Illustration for a princess as an image, which has never been done. There are no drawings or pictures of the princesses' Chinyoung Procession, but only written records. Thus, we completed the Procession Illustration by dressing the participants in accordance with their social classes and arranging them in the march. The arrangements were based on historical records of social classes, positions, number, and costumes. As for the princesses' weddings in the late Joseon period, a total of 18 wedding records remain. We selected Princess Bok-On's (福溫公主: 1818~1832) wedding as the subject of reconstruction as it had the greatest number of participants. In addition, due to the great number of participants, this study limits its focus to the female participants, with the male participants to be examined in future research. The result confirmed that the number of participants in Princess Bok-On's Chinyoung Procession was 184, including the bride and bridegroom, and the number of female participants was 26 in total, including the princess and women placed around her. The women participants wore Rip(笠), Neoul(羅兀), Jeonmo(氈帽), Garima(加里磨), Noeui(露衣), Hwaleui(豁衣), Dangeui(唐衣), Jeogori(赤古里), Chima(赤亇), Malgun(袜裙), Daedae(大帶), Onhye(溫鞋), Dokhye(禿鞋).

  • The National Archives of Korea and other archives now provide services through social media such as Facebook or Twitter, and use such platforms to interact with users. To be specific, users communicate with and get information from these archives via the National Sinmoongo, the place for civil petition. Therefore, it is significant to understand the users' needs and the contents of the communication by analyzing the comments and petitions that have appeared in these channels. For this, this study analyzed users' perceptions and information needs shared through social media and the National Sinmoongo of the National Archives of Korea. The social media content analyzed here were posts and comments from the Facebook accounts of the National Archives of Korea, e-Record, the Busan Archives, and the Presidential Archives of Korea. Also, sentences containing the words "National Archives of Korea" and "Presidential Archives of Korea" that have appeared in texts in the National Sinmoongo were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, suggestions that could activate the user-centered archival information services in the archives and records centers were made.

  • In the past, crime prediction methods utilized previous records to accurately predict crime occurrences. Yet these crime prediction models had difficulty in updating immense data. To enhance the crime prediction methods, some approaches used social network service (SNS) data in crime prediction studies, but the relationship between SNS data and crime records has not been studied thoroughly. Hence, in this paper, we analyze the relationship between SNS data and criminal occurrences in the perspective of crime prediction. Using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), we extract tweets that included any words regarding criminal occurrences and analyze the changes in tweet frequency according to the crime records. We then calculate the number of tweets including crime related words and investigate accordingly depending on crime occurrences. Our experimental results demonstrate that there is a difference in crime related tweet occurrences when criminal activity occurs. Moreover, our results show that SNS data analysis will be helpful in crime prediction model as there are certain patterns in tweet occurrences before and after the crime.
