Exploring Twitter Follower-Networks of Startup Companies Employing Social Network Analysis and Cluster Analysis (소셜네트워크 분석과 클러스터 분석 방법을 활용한 스타트업 회사의 트위터 팔로워 네트워크에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The importance of business strategy for successful social media engagement has quickly increased as more businesses engage in social media. The importance is even greater for startup companies because startup companies are genuinely new to business, and they need to increase their presence in the market, and quickly access future customers. The objective of this paper lies in exploring key indicators of social media engagements by selected startup companies. The key indicators include two aspects of social media usages by the companies: i) overall social media activities, and ii) properties of network structure of the information flow platform provided by social media service. To better assess and evaluate the key indicators of social media usages by startup companies, the indicators will be compared with those of selected large established companies. Twitter is selected as a social media service for the analysis of this paper, and using Twitter REST API, data regarding the key indicators of overall Twitter activities and the Twitter follower-network of each company in the sample are collected. Then, the data are analyzed using social network analysis and hierarchical clustering analysis to examine the characteristics of the follower-network structures and to compare the characteristics between startup companies and established companies. The results show that most indicators are significantly different across startup companies and established companies. One key interesting finding is that the startup companies have proportionally more influencers in their follower-networks than the established companies have. Another interesting finding is that the follower-networks of startup companies in the sample have higher modularity and higher transitivity, suggesting that the startup companies tend to have a proportionally larger number of communities of users in their follower-networks, and the users in the networks are more tightly connected and cohesive internally. The key business implication for the future social media engagement efforts by startup companies in general is that startup companies may need to focus on getting more attention from influencers and promoting more cohesive communities in their follower-networks to appreciate the potential benefits of social media in the early stage of business of startup companies.

  • Nowadays, real-time devices that provide health care for a companion animal is being developed by IoT technology and its demand such as smart puppy tag is increasing. However, it is difficult for IoT devices of companion animals to process complex nature due to miniaturized hardware and constructive nature. There is a clear limit to custom advanced features like health care implementation. This paper designs an integrated platform with statistical analysis which makes it possible to customized services such as feed production, pharmaceutical production, and health care for each companion animal. Middleware that collects sensor information, customer's spending pattern and information from Social Network Service is also designed by making use of IoT devices which companion animals wear. Furthermore, the paper designed data analyzer which analyzes and refines data from collected information that can be applied to personalized services.

  • The problem of library space has long been discussed in various aspects such as library relations, architecture, and space design. The purpose of this study is to examine the change of the concept of the complex space of the library according to the development of advanced technology and the social paradigm, and to present the direction of constructing the complex space of the future library by analyzing each case. All concepts such as mediatheque, information commons, larchiveum, and the maker space that is recently introduced into the library are important elements of the complex space presented as a problem of library construction and space. The future library reflects these concepts and serves as a mediator between information and users, users and users, users and media to support reading, information, learning, rest, community-oriented culture and creation, start-up and collaboration. It should be constructed as a multi-space platform to create new value through.

  • This paper deals with the elderly serious game design which makes full use of the existing arcade game machine. This serious game is on the issue for its positive role recently. Serious arcade game for the elderly which is made up arcade platform-based combined contents manufacture technology has an element which is having a fun for building up physical and mental health. It also has a special objective which can prevent against senile dementia. Above-mentioned serious arcade game which has a special objective in both hardware part and software part is needed to study how to design. Accordingly, this paper presents how to make up special-purpose entertainment machine and contents development by biologic, social, and psychological researches and data about the elderly - main users. We hope that this paper can be used as a base for expansion of new industrial field by integrating new product development for the elderly with high game technology.With the help of information technology

Follower classification system based on the similarity of Twitter node information (트위터 사용자정보의 유사성을 기반으로 한 팔로어 분류시스템)

  • Current friend recommendation system on Twitter primarily recommends the most influential twitter. However, this way of recommendation has drawbacks where it does not recommend the users of which attributes of interests are similar to theirs. Since users want other users of which attributes are similar, this study implements follower recommendation system based on the similarity of twitter node informations. The data in this study is from SNAP(Stanford Network Analysis Platform), and it consists of twitter node information of which number of followers is over 10,000 and twitter link information. We used the SNAP data as a training data, and generated a classifier which recommends and predicts the relation between followers. We evaluated the classifier by 10-Fold Cross validation. Once two twitter node informations are given, our model can recommend the relationship of the two twitters as one of following such as: FoFo(Follower Follower), FoFr(Follower Friend), NC(Not Connected).

Analysis of the dentistry-related contents uploaded on YouTube Korea (YouTube 내의 치과 관련 한국어 컨텐츠 현황 분석 및 활용 방안)

  • Objective: Previous studies suggested the potential influence of YouTube videos regarding dentistry on the mass population. However, there was not any clear investigation for Korean population. We aimed to systemically analyze the type of the dentistry-related videos uploaded on YouTube Korea and the accounts used for uploading, and to assess their effect on the view count of the content. Methods: Classification, type of the accounts, and view count of the videos listed by the keyword 'dentistry' were analyzed, which were uploaded on YouTube Korea platform from September 2017 to April 2019. Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc analysis was used to assess the effect of the classification of the videos and the type of accounts on the view count. Results: 1.026 videos were enrolled to the analysis. Primary classification of the videos was information/education, advertisement, life, news, child contents, autonomous sensory meridian response, broadcast, cartoon/game, humor, and music. Secondary classification of the videos was dental experience, advertisement, role-playing, information/education., humor, cartoon/game, child contents, life, and broadcast. Type of the accounts was dentistry associates, general public, media company, and government office (sorted by frequency). Subject of the most videos (93.6%) was general public. There was statistically significance in the view count of the videos according to the primary and secondary classifications, the account used for uploading, and target subject of the videos. Conclusion: Dentists and their associates should recognize the importance of YouTube platform and try to monitor and intervene the dentistry-related contents, considering its huge impact on the general public.

Influencing Factors on Users' Resistance to the Mobile Easy Payment Services : Focusing on the Case of KakaoPay Users (모바일 간편결제 서비스에 대한 사용자 수용저항 요인 : 카카오페이 사용자를 중심으로)

  • Since the global financial crisis of 2008, the continuous development and innovation in technology-related fields such as information and communications technology (ICT) are likely to swim against the recession. In this paradoxical situation, the necessity of financial innovation through ICT is on the rise. For this reason, the appearance of Fintech is more meaningful as a new converged industry with the potential to lead financial innovation. The term of Fintech is derived from combining 'Finance' and 'Technology.' In South Korea, one of the most popular types of Fintech is mobile payment. KakaoPay, which is the first mobile easy payment service in Korea, is a much more simplified type of mobile payment service than ones used in the past, and is provided by the most popular mobile messenger service in Korea, KakaoTalk. However, KakaoPay has few active users in spite of its many advantages, which include convenience, simplicity, and a powerful platform. Thus, the main purpose of this paper is to investigate influencing factors of user resistance on KakaoPay. In order to investigate specific factors, a research model is developed based on the unified understanding of user resistance put forth by Laumer and Eckhardt (2012). After gathering online survey data from KakaoTalk users, an empirical analysis is conducted to verify this research model. The results of this study give insights regarding user resistance factors in the Fintech sector, and by so doing, it is expected that the important factors of user resistance could help the diffusion of new services when new mobile payment services appear in the near future.

Paid Peering: Pricing and Adoption Incentives

  • Large access providers (ISPs) are seeking for new types of business agreements and pricing models to manage network costs and monetize better the provision of last-mile services. A typical paradigm of such new pricing norms is the proliferation of paid peering deals between ISPs and content providers (CPs), while on top of this, some ISPs are already experimenting with usage-based tariffs, usually through data-plans, instead of the typical fixed-based charging. In this work we define as common platform, the infrastructure in which a single ISP transacts with several CPs through peering agreements. In this context, we examine whether, and under which market conditions, the profitability of the involved stakeholders improves when the establishment of this platform is accompanied by a monetary compensation from the CPs to the ISP (paid peering), v.s. a scenario where their deal is a typical settlement-free one. In both cases, we assume that the ISP implements a usage-based access pricing scheme, implying that end-users will pay more for higher transaction rates with the CPs. Our framework captures some of the most important details of the current market, such as the various business models adopted by the CPs, the end-users' evaluation towards the ISP's and CPs' level of investments and the traffic rates per transaction for the offered services. By analysing the equilibrium derived by a leader-follower game, it turns out (among other practical takeaways) that whether or not the profitability of a CP improves, it highly depends on whether its business model is to sell content, or if it obtains its revenue from advertisements. Finally, we extract that consumer surplus is considerably higher under paid peering, which in turn implies improved levels of social welfare.

  • As generation of Web 2.0 comes in, enormous information of corporation from various platform are being produced. However, corporations should understand features of each platform and appropriate strategies in order to attract the public in the midst of such flood of information. Numerous studies have been conducted regarding SNS which has grown rapidly in recent but a study relating a specific medium is relatively in short. So this study analyzed how information of Instagram bulletin board is accepted in perspective of consumer in Korean and America, We examined the relationship between intention of acceptance and Word Of Mouth effect through meditating effect of information usefulness. To answer the research question, we conducted online survey with Korean and USA college students. The result showed that usefulness of the information was shown to the major intermediary variable between the information characteristics of bulletin board and the intention of acceptance intention and Word Of Mouth(WOM).

ElggSpace: Extension of Elgg SNS for Supporting Collaborative Workspace (ElggSpace: 협업 워크스페이스를 지원하는 Elgg SNS의 확장)

  • Recently, SNS is widely used for various purposes such as fast decision making or effective business process in educational institutions or enterprise as well as general services for social networking. Unfortunately, all of existing general SNS platforms do not provide user groups with workspaces for sharing information in a hierarchical way, nor support the functionality of workspace backup for migrations. In this paper, we present a collaborative workspace environment named ElggSpace which extends the Elgg SNS platform with the C3ware collaborative middleware. With the help of C3ware, ElggSpace systematically supports collaborative workspaces that enable user groups to share massive resource in cloud storages. In addition, ElggSpace allows high-level access controls for resources management and the functionality of resource backup, supporting effective collaboration.
