Social Network Services and Performing Arts: Value and potential of its application (소셜 네트워크 서비스와 공연예술: 활용가치와 가능성)

  • The popularity of the social media has enabled growth of the social network, which has a big impact on culture and arts sector. The impact is based on the fact that news and evaluation of performances are communicated actively through the use of on-line community, and that the advent of social commerce makes more people see better performance at a lower price. Besides, collaboration programs called Social Sourcing are springing up in the arts sector, and there is Crowd Funding for culture & arts which is a desirable form of social funding. In this way social media and social network service (SNS) have huge social influence not only on the performing arts sector but also on the whole culture and arts sector, and are expected to have growing dominance. With SNS - which opened new marketing, publicity and donation system not only for the whole society but also for the culture and arts sector - in mind, this paper handles the topics on understanding of close relationship between SNS and performing arts, and on its current usage, value and endless possibilities. By presenting the practical value and the possibilities, this paper will help in making smooth the communication between stakeholders and audience of performing arts, in making effective the means of performance delivery, and in making enlarged the mutual understanding between performers and audience. This paper will also be the basis of an alternative means, which presents the performing arts sector with possibilities to get out of the chronic deficit.

Measurement and Impact of Virtual and Digital Marketing as a Distribution Channel in Business

  • Purpose: Marketing and especially distribution channels has proved challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) worldwide due to its exorbitant cost. The objective of this study is to access the role and impact of digital marketing as a new distribution channel in companies located in Kosovo. Research design, data and methodology: To achieve the objective of the research, data was collected from 64 respondents/participants working in different organizations and sectors. Results: The result of the data collected showed that digital marketing plays a huge role and an effective medium in distribution of products and services, and helps in boosting sales of companies. The results showed that this form of marketing helps with retention of customers and cost effectiveness. Conclusions: The managerial implication of this study is that it is believed that customers in the topical conversation region are impacted by Kosovo businesses and their online marketing initiatives. The results of this study suggest that marketers and managers should take advantage of social media in order to accomplish the study's main objective. However, for enhanced productivity and high-level effectiveness of Digital marketing in Kosovo, there should be proper sensitization on the available digital marketing options and how it can be done.

  • With widespread use of smart phones, SNS has been growing rapidly. Companies are required to do its utilization and a preemptive response. However, taking advantage of SNS is still insignificant in the companies. Compared with traditional marketing, people still consider the SNS marketing unfamiliar. This study is aimed at widening the breadth of understanding of marketing activity using SNS and inquiring into its effective applications. In an effort to achieve this research objective, first, this study analyzed the aspect of real applications by reviewing diverse practical business cases. Second, this study provided the momentum of the understanding of SNS marketing-based knowledge. The effective method of producing consumer-intimate products and services lies in customers' participation in development and production. SNS marketing is the very communication and gives ear to a customer's voice. Earnest and creative SNS marketing will play a role as a stepping-stone for businesses to move much closer to a customer.

Enhancing the corporate image through social media: An approach based on multi-dimensional scaling (다차원척도법에 의한 기업이미지 제고를 위한 소셜미디어 활용방안)

  • Social media is drawing attention among companies for its potential as a marketing tool. There are many types of social media and their characteristics are varied, and thus choosing the appropriate social media considering the purpose of the company is important. In this paper, we conduct comparative analysis on the popular social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Naver blog, Youtube, Cyworld and Me2day using multidimensional scaling method. The result shows that there are differences in the effectiveness of enhancing diverse dimensions of corporate image among social media. This result can be used in developing social media based marketing strategy.

  • This study sought to identify the causal relationship between variables through empirical analysis between Chinese female consumers' beauty SNS marketing, brand image, and brand attitude. Through the results of this study, it was confirmed that a causal relationship exists between each variable. In particular, it was confirmed that interactivity, a sub-factor of beauty SNS marketing, is a key factor influencing the variables of brand image and brand attitude. In addition, accessibility, a sub-factor of beauty SNS marketing, is also an important factor affecting brand image and brand attitude. It was confirmed that vitality and informativeness are important factors influencing brand image and brand attitude in that order.

Gender and Age Differences in Triple Media Usage Related to Outdoor Apparel Purchases

  • This study defines the concept of triple media and examines various marketing media that influence a consumer's purchase of outdoor fashion brands. We explore the effects of gender and age on information searches related to outdoor fashion brands and purchase criteria related to outdoor clothing. A survey of consumers who visited stores was conducted. We targeted consumers between the ages of 15 and 50 and analyzed 764 questionnaires. The results show that triple media involve eight factors: five factors (printed ads or radio ads, campaign ads, Internet ads, TV ads, and store ads) in paid media, one factor (direct marketing) in owned media, and two factors (channels of social network services, channels of direct promotion) in earned media. Further, the evaluation/appraisal criteria of outdoor clothing consist of four attributes (practicality, promotional activities, product power, and customer service). The teenager group showed significantly low usage of campaign ads, direct marketing, and direct promotion, while the use of Internet ads is particularly high among teenagers compared to other age groups. Moreover, teenagers are least likely to rely on practicality when evaluating clothing and are most likely to value product power. Additionally, women show significantly high usage of direct marketing. In terms of the clothing appraisal criteria, women assign higher value to practicality and promotional factors than men. The theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed.

An Analysis of the Hocance Phenomenon using Social Media Big Data (소셜 미디어 빅데이터를 활용한 호캉스(hocance) 현상 분석)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the recent popular consumption trend, the hocance phenomenon, using social media big data. The study intended to present practical directions and marketing measures for the recovery and growth of the hotel industry after COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach - Big data analysis has been used in various fields, and in this study, it was used to understand the hocance phenomenon. For three years from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020, we collected text data including the keyword 'hocance' from the blog and cafe of NAVER and Daum. TEXTOM and UCINET 6 were used to collect and analyze the data. Findings - According to the results of analysis, the words such as 'hocance', 'hotel', 'Seoul', 'travel', 'swimming pool', 'Incheon', 'breakfast', 'child' and 'friend' were identified with high frequency. The results of CONCOR analysis showed similar results in all three years. It has been confirmed that 'swimming pool', 'breakfast', 'child' and 'friend' are important when deciding on the hocance package. Research implications or Originality - The study was differentiated in that it used social media big data instead of traditional research methods. Furthermore, it reflected social phenomena as a consumption trend so there was practical value in establishing marketing strategies for the tourism and hotel industry.

Analysis of Social Media Contents about Broadcast Media through Topic Modeling (토픽 모델링을 이용한 방송미디어 관련 소셜 미디어 콘텐츠 분석)

  • Numerous people share their TV experience with other viewers on social media such as personal blogs and Twitter. It means that broadcast media, especially TV, affects the responses on social media. Moreover, the responses affect broadcast media ratings back. Social TV tried to use the relationship in marketing activities such as advertisement by analyzing the TV related social behavior. However, most of them used just the quantities of social media responses. This study analyzes the subjects of the responses on social media about specific TV dramas through topic modeling, and the relationship between the changes of popular topics and viewer ratings of the drama over specified periods. Five representative Korean dramas of 2014 were selected and Blog contents including viewer ratings about the dramas were collected from naver.com which is the representative portal in South Korea. The proposed analysis framework consists of three steps which are Blogs crawling, topic modeling, and topic trend analysis. We found some implications from the results of the topic trend analysis. Firstly, there were specific topics on dramas in social media. Secondly, the topics had some meaningful relationships with viewer ratings. Lastly, there were differences between the topics of dramas with higher viewer ratings and those with lower viewer ratings.

The Effect of Digital Marketing on Purchasing Decisions: A Case Study in Jordan

  • The main objective of this research was to analyze the influence of digital marketing on purchasing decisions. The research was guided by specific aims; to evaluate numerous digital marketing platforms in Jordan that can affect the purchasing decisions and identify product categories purchased by customers on digital media platforms. Furthermore, questionnaires were given based on a simple sampling technique and acquired in the Jordanian market. 300 questionnaires were distributed, and 220 available samples were gathered, except for incomplete questionnaires, resulting in a 73% response rate to all those who selected to participate. Descriptive analysis, reliability test, correlation test, and multiple regressions were used in this research. Moreover, this study's results demonstrated that digital marketing, such as social media marketing and mobile marketing, has a profound impact on consumer purchasing decisions. However, hypothesis testing demonstrated that there are many patronized digital media platforms in Jordan that affect student behavior. Jordanian students buy various product categories on digital media platforms, and digital marketing affects student decision-making. Finally, the results of this study suggest that firms should adopt strategies to leverage the digital world and technology, increase brand awareness through digital platforms to continue competing in today's commercial environment.

Linking Consumer Needs and Engagement Dimensions with Social Media Brand Pages to Brand Attachment Formation Process

  • This study investigates the influence of consumer needs pertaining to brand social media pages on the consumer brand attachment formation process. We collected 278 valid responses from females who have experienced the food brands' social media pages. Following the data analysis, we developed the results as follows. First, we examined the significant influence of attachment to brand social media page needs and socialization needs on consumer content consumption engagement and content contribution engagement on brand social media pages. Then we determined that consumer engagement significantly influenced consumer brand attachment. Finally, we found consumer consumption engagement exerted a significant mediation effect on the relationship between consumer needs and brand attachment. Based on the results, we outlined the potential theoretical and marketing strategy implications of this research.
