The impacts of social category information (we/other) versus personality information (warm/cold) on impression formation (인상형성에 있어 사회범주 정보(우리-남)와 성격특성 정보(따뜻한-차가운)의 영향)

  • Most previous research on impression formation has been examined the effects of various informations exclusively within a category, either social category or individual characteristic. The present research examined and compared the priming effects of social category information (we and other) versus personality information (warm and cold) on impression formation. In Study 1, participants primed subliminally with combinations of social category and personality information (we/warm, we/cold, other/warm, and other/cold) were asked to rate faceial pictures on the good-bad and likable-dislikable dimensions. The analysis revealed only the significant main effects of social category information but not any effects of personality information on both the impression dimensions. In Study 2 in which participants were primed with either social category or personality information exclusively, priming of social category information influenced the judgments of likable-dislikable dimension and that of personality information influenced the judgments of good-bad dimension. These results suggest that personality information influences impression in general even though its impacts may be overwritten by social categorical information. The findings were discussed with its implication of everyday's impression formation and the cultural psychological perspectives.

Impacts of Small and Medium Enterprises' Recognition of Social Media on Their Behavioral Intention and Use Behavior (중소기업의 소셜미디어에 대한 인식이 활용의도 및 실제 활용에 미치는 영향 - 기업특성의 조절효과를 중심으로 -)

  • Recently, as the number of smart-phone users has been rapidly increased, enterprise managers have a keen interest in business application of social media. Most previous studies have focused on perspective of the individual unit of analysis instead of enterprise level unit. The study is focused on the relationship between the enterprises' recognition and behavioral intention (and use) about social media application. The purpose of this study is to develop the model of small and medium enterprises' social media application, and to find the factors affecting their behavioral intention or use behavior. The moderating effects of four corporate characteristics on the relationship between the enterprises' recognition and behavioral intention are also examined. We surveyed 900 corporate staffs and received 203 responses. After questionnaires with unreliable responses had been excluded, 182 effective samples were used in the final analysis. The findings suggest that Performance Expectation, Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions significantly affect Behavioral Intention of social medea, and Behavioral Intention affects USE. Furthermore, some corporate characteristics have moderating effect on the relationship between recognition of social media and Behavioral Intention.

Leadership Competencies of IT Project Managers : from Team Social Capital Perspective (IT프로젝트 관리자의 리더십 역량 : 팀 내 사회적 자본 관점에서)

  • This study explores the applicability of social capital theory in IT project management. Specifically, an empirical model is developed using different types of leadership competencies (emotional, cognitive, and social) as independent constructs impacting IT project performance. Social capital shared among team members are measured and placed as a mediating construct between leadership competencies and performance. Using PLS analysis of 120 data points collected through a survey of IT project participants in two large electronic manufacturers, direct and indirect impacts of leadership competencies are explicated. Research results reveal that emotional leadership competency seems to directly influence the project performance but not through team social capital, while social leadership competency seems to indirectly influence the project performance through team social capital but not directly onto the project performance. Cognitive leadership competency is the only leadership competency that maintains direct and indirect influence on project performance. Total effect of cognitive competency on project performance is almost two times larger than the total effect of emotional leadership competency and six times larger than the total effect of social leadership competency. Implications of findings are discussed at the end, and further studies are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between interpersonal stress and job burnout, turnover intention of social welfare worker's in social welfare center and efficient response of welfare worker's. In order to accomplish this study purpose, the interpersonal stress of social welfare worker's in social welfare center as an independent variable, interpersonal stress as a dependent variable of job burnout and turnover intention, and stress coping ability as a moderating variable were selected. The causal relationship between interpersonal stress and job burnout, turnover intention and the moderating effect of stress coping ability were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the interpersonal stress of social welfare worker's showed a significant effect on job burnout and turnover intention. Also, moderating effects of stress copying ability were significant. Based on the results of this analysis, the theoretical implications and policy implications of this study are suggested, and the directions and limitations of this study are suggested.

  • This study examined the revictimization of wives from repeated husband violence and how that affected their depression. It also explored whether social support networks can have moderating effects. Sixty-four wives participated in the research group, 72.3% of whom had experienced repeated verbal violence, and 29.2% experienced repeated physical violence since their husbands participated in the correction and rehabilitation program for family violence perpetrators. Revictimization from repeated husband-to-wife violence was proven to significantly influence wife depression. To moderate the harmful effects of repeated domestic violence on depression, social support networks were observed to provide protective reinforcements. However, the findings of this study did not support the notion that social support networks have moderating effects on wife depression, while a strong negative relationship was established between professional networks of social support networks. Based on these results, the research discussion here advocates for an intervention that promotes psychological health to wives who are exposed to repeated domestic violence.

  • The importance of Entrepreneurship has been widely acknowledged by researchers and practitioners worldwide, however, the idea of Social Entrepreneurship is still considered to be an emerging area. Entrepreneurship is vital not only because of its economic impacts but also because it helps to address issues of poverty and welfare, where it can act as a catalyst for change. The importance of social entrepreneurship is that it serves to turn a profit and find success while helping others throughout the world. They know the power of social enterprise and are eager to serve the societal and economic benefits. This study aims to identify the level of orientation of youth towards social entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The study identifies the role of various factors that affect Social Entrepreneurial Orientation and is conducted following a quantitative research strategy and survey research design where data is collected from 302 individuals. Structural Equation Modelling was used to analyze the data and to test the hypotheses. The main finding of this research is that there is an increasing trend in the orientation towards social entrepreneurship. The exogenous variables namely Perceived Educational Support, Perceived Structural Support, and Perceived Relational Support were found to have positive and significant effects on the endogenous construct of Social Entrepreneurial Orientation.

Social Accountability of Medical Schools: Concept and Implementation Strategies (의과대학의 사회적 책무성: 개념과 실천전략)

  • Medical schools have been working to produce competent doctors and improve the quality of care by introducing and implementing new curricula and innovative teaching and learning methods. Despite these efforts, health disparities within and between countries still exist. To close these gaps, medical schools must identify the priorities of the community, region, and/or nation and conduct education, research, and service that reflect them-the core foundation of the social accountability of medical schools. Many medical schools and networks around the world have tried to achieve social accountability, but this needs more attention in Korea. This study will review the literature in aims to improve understanding and promote the implementation of the social accountability of medical schools. Most medical schools that practice the principles of social accountability focus primarily on the medically underserved in their communities or those who have limited access to health services, and have built collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to meet the needs of society. In addition, in order to implement social accountability effectively and efficiently, medical schools have developed strategies and various evaluation frameworks appropriate to the context of each school. To have more socially accountable medical schools, it is necessary to clarify the concept of social accountability and to establish a system that can evaluate the impacts. Medical schools exist to alleviate suffering and promote health, and this can be accomplished through social accountability.

The Effect of ESG Management on Social Welfare Organizations

  • Purpose: There is a significant opportunity for ESG management to act as a useful guideline for social welfare organizational structures when dealing with sustainability and ethical leadership. The ESG guidelines should allow these companies to improve their business efficacy. This paper aims to explore the specific impacts of ESG management on social welfare. Research design, data and methodology: The systematic review approach ensures that quality work is undertaken in tackling the existing gaps in the literature on ESG management in social welfare organizations. The outcomes of this review will give a useful 'real-life' picture of the consequences of ESG practices and suggestions that can increase the efficiency and sustainability of social welfare organizations. Results: The principal favorable consequences are discussed in this chapter regarding the social welfare organization due to the implementation of ESG management. Subsequently, each effect is posted under different sub-titles and evidence from previously conducted research studies. Conclusions: ESG management is vital for social welfare organizations since it increases their efficiency in operations, public image, and opportunities to receive funds, and it helps improve relations with stakeholders. More so, these organizations can embrace the ESG practices and as a result bring more efficiency to the general welfare of the society.

Game Use and School Life of Korean Adolescents: Gender Difference and Moderating Effects of Social Relationship (청소년의 게임이용과 학교생활 - 성별 차이와 사회적 관계의 조절효과)

  • This study examines links between Korean adolescents' uses of games and their school lives. A gender-based analysis was conducted and moderating effects of social relationship variables were tested. The major findings are as follows. First, some gender differences were found in impacts of game use. For example, although a game addiction variable appeared to influence both male and female adolescents negatively on the school-related conscientiousness, only male students displayed a negative impact of game time. It represents a gender difference in the preferred game genres and ways of using them. Second, the analysis showed that variables of social relationship could moderate the negative effects of game use. While the relationship with father appeared to moderate the negative effects of game time in male adolescents, the relationship with mother turned out to relieve the negative impacts of game addiction in female ones. In the case of male adolescents, however, the relationship with the parents did not show any moderating effect on game addiction. This study supports the claim that it is necessary to take a gendered approach in studying gaming.
