Structural Equation Model for the Health Behaviors of University Nursing Students in Korea (간호대학생의 건강행위 예측모형)

  • Purpose: Structural equation model was analysed to explore the determinants of health behaviors of university nursing students in Korea. Study subjects: Four hundreds seventy eight university nursing students were selected by random cluster sampling from five universities located in the middle area of Korea. Data collection: The data were collected by questionnaires about demographic characteristics, stressful life events, perceived social support, perceived health status and health behaviors. Results: 1. Living with(out) family did not show direct effect on health behaviors. 2. Stressful life events and social support showed indirect effect on health behaviors via perceived health status; higher score of stressful life events predicted negative health behaviors. 3. The higher score of perceived health status predicted positive health behaviors. Recommendation: To improve the health behavior of nursing student, the program for positive perceived health status is necessary, which includes the social support and stressful life event control program. Each nursing school should be encouraged to develop the program for increasing positive perceived health status. It would be more effective to develop health program separately according to the demographic or social characteristics of the students. And following studies could be suggested to identify and promote the validity and reliability of perceived health status and health behaviors measurements.

Relationship between Suppression Strategy of Emotional Expression and Posttraumatic Growth: Serial Multiple Mediating Effects of Self Disclosure on Traumatic Event and Social Support (정서표현억제전략과 외상후 성장의 관계: 외상사건에 대한 자기개방과 사회적 지지의 순차적 다중매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of emotion regulation strategy on posttraumatic growth and to confirm serial multiple mediating effects of self disclosure on a traumatic experience and social support in relationship between suppression strategy of emotional expression and posttraumatic growth. A survey was conducted for adults over the age of 18. Data of 663 adults (222 men, 441 women) were analyzed. According to analysis by using SPSS Process Macro, the less suppression strategy of emotional expression was used, the higher posttraumatic growth was. Simple mediating effect of self disclosure was confirmed between suppression strategy of emotional expression and posttraumatic growth. Serial multiple mediating effects of self disclosure and social support were shown in relationship between suppression strategy of emotional expression and posttraumatic growth. It means that the more people who use less suppression of emotional expression as their emotion regulation strategy, the more they disclose on their traumatic experience, then, they will receive emotional comfort and support from the people around, finally reaching posttraumatic growth. The importance of self disclosure and social support on posttraumatic growth was verified. Counseling intervention method was suggested for involuntary clients who usually suppress emotional expression, to enhance their posttraumatic growth. Lastly, significance and limitations of this study were suggested for follow-up studies.

The Perceived Symptom and Preventive Behavior Related to Asian Dust Event: in South Korean and Chinese (한국인과 중국인의 황사로 인한 자각증상 및 예방행동)

  • Recently rapid environmental changes due to desertification and industrialization in China make a threat to Korea, especially during Asian Dust Event (ADE). This study was aimed to compare symptoms and behaviors related to ADE between Korea and China. We conducted questionnaires on self-reported symptoms and behaviors before and during ADE. Korean and Chinese subjects were grouped into children, adults, and elderly by nation (n=791). Statistical analyses were performed by $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test and chow's test for comparing differences between Korean and Chinese. We estimated the odds ratio for perceived symptoms during ADE by preventive behavior, using Generalized Estimation Equation (GEE). The study indicated that there were significant differences between symptoms in Korea and those in China such as cold, cough, and sore throat, especially in elderly. Preventive behaviors such as avoiding outdoor activity and wearing sunglasses were more often performed in China than Korea. However wearing mask was more often performed in Korea than China. After adjusting for age, sex, educational level, and smoking status, the odds ratio (OR) of dry cough symptom in Korea was significantly decreased by closing the windows and wearing a mask during ADE. In China, the OR of dry cough symptom was decreased by wearing a mask and avoiding outdoor activity. We found that China which had higher performance of preventive behavior showed lower prevalence of symptoms during ADE than Korea. Also preventive behaviors could affects prevalence of symptoms during ADE. This results suggest that preventive behavior. could reduce symptoms during ADE and there are needed for. more attentions to reduce a threat of ADE.

Automatic Recommendation of Nearby Tourist Attractions related to Events (이벤트와 관련된 주변 관광지 자동 추천 알고리즘 개발)

  • Participating in exhibitions is one of the major activities for tourists. When selecting their next travel destination after participating in an event, they use map services and social network services, such as blogs, to obtain information about tourist attractions. The map services are location-based recommendations, because they can easily retrieve information regarding nearby places. Blogs contain informative content about tourist attractions, thereby providing content-based recommendations. However, few services consider both location and content. In location-based recommendations, tourist attractions that are not related to the content of the event attended might be recommended. Content-based recommendation has a disadvantage in that events located at a distance might get recommended. We propose an algorithm that considers both location and content, based on information from the Korea Tourism Organization's Linked Open Data (LOD), Wikipedia, and a Korean dictionary. By extracting nouns from the description of a tourist attraction and then comparing them with nouns about other attractions, a content-based relationship is determined. The distance to the event is calculated based on the latitude and longitude of each tourist attraction. A weight selected by the user is used for linear combination with the content-based relationship to determine the preference order of the recommendations.

  • In 2011, Daegu hosted the International Association of Athletics Federation Championships and attempted to use this event strengthen its global profile. Organizers hoped Daegu 2011 would strengthen knowledge about Daegu internationally and help the city overcome recent economic stagnation by bolstering tourism and investment on the global scale. Written from the perspective of a foreigner living in Korea, this interpretive article uses mixed-method cultural geographic analysis to evaluate the momentum Daegu 2011 produced in these directions. The article draws on a tripartite "territorialisation" approach to mega-event tourism's production of space, focusing on representational efforts during the approach to the championships and the event itself. Promotional materials receive particular attention. Interviews with international tourists during 2011 strengthen conclusions drawn from analysis of promotional materials. After reviewing relevant conceptual literature, Daegu's history, and the background of Daegu 2011, the article devotes three subsections to analysis. The first uses critical discourse analysis of a key promotional video to argue that Daegu's self-promotions betrayed insecurity about the city's place within the global tourism market. A second analysis subbsection finds that additional promotional materials did not fully overcome that problem. These materials also produced an overload of Daegu images and aspirations. The third subsection further develops these arguments, pointing to a partial mismatch between images emphasized by promotions and experiences available in the tourism landscape. This subsection also argues that while Daegu 2011 undoubtedly produced positive effects for the city, key challenges remain if Daegu will be placed on the map of globally acknowledged cities.

A Study on the News Frames of Regional Daily Newspapers Related to the Selection of the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature' ('세계 7대 자연경관' 선정 캠페인 관련 지역일간지의 뉴스 프레임 연구)

  • This study started from the questions on how the selection of the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature' was repeatedly reported, and whose voice was emphasized on which perspective in regional daily newspapers. This is a subject that received the attention of the media with the tag of 'fraud on a national scale'. The results of this study showed that there was no difference among newspapers in all frames excluding the frame of public confidence in relation to the N7W Foundation. Furthermore, after examining the change before and after six media companies' conclusion of MOUs, a significant difference was discovered between newspapers concerning the frame of public confidence pertaining to the N7W Foundation. However, no significant difference was discovered in all frames after the MOUs were concluded. The tone of the press mostly displayed a positive or supporting perspective, and almost no negative or critical reports were published. Second, 68.0% of all the articles displayed use direct quotes. The speakers of direct quotes were mostly from official organizations that initiated the selection event for the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature', and almost no civilians or representatives from civil social groups were quoted. On the other hand, direct quotes of anonymous sources were used rather frequently, and most of these sources were confirmed to be official sources and related parties that initiated the selection event for the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature'. As a result, regional daily newspapers displayed support and advocated for the voices of the entities that initiated the selection event for the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature', including the district government, by emphasizing and repeating their perspectives in the newspaper coverage.

  • Recently, ammonia leak occurred frequently in the domestic refrigeration manufacturing facilities. Ammonia caused great damage to the environment and human health in the event of an accident as combustible gases and toxic gases. After considering the types of ammonia accidents of domestic refrigeration manufacturing facilities and selected accident scenarios and to analyze the risk analysis through Impact range estimates and frequency analysis and there was a need to establish measures to minimize accident damage. In this study, depending on the method of analysis quantitative risk assessment we analyzed the risk of the receiver tank of ammonia system. Scenario analysis conditions were set according to the 'Technical guidelines for the selection of accident scenario' under the chemicals control act and 'Guidelines for chemical process quantitative risk analysis' of center for chemical process safety. The risk estimates were utilized for consequence analysis and frequency analysis by SAFETI program of DNV, event tree analysis methodology and part count methodology. The individual risk of ammonia system was derived as 7.71E-04 / yr, social risk were derived as 1.17E-03 / yr. The derived risk was confirmed to apply as low as reasonably practicable of the national fire protection association and through risk calculation, it can be used as a way to minimize accidents ammonia leakage accident damage.

  • The scientific paper studies the impact of tourism and traveling on the economic level of development of countries at the macro level and its relationship with other sectors of the economy. Tourism is one of the budget-forming factors of every economy. This work describes the main trends in the development of tourism. It is determined that about one third of tourism revenues are generated by the food sector, i.e., the culinary niche of tourism. Culinary tourism is a new direction of tourism, but it is developing quite dynamically in the EU. Culinary is an important part of rural tourism in the EU and culinary tourism is actively promoted at fairs and festivals. In recent years rural tourism has been developing both at the international level and in Ukraine, primarily due to its features, which include the implementation of the principles of sustainable community development, preservation of local traditions and cultural values, gastronomic events to promote them. The aim of the article is to study the theoretical aspects of the development of gastronomic tourism in the world, to analyze the actual condition of gastronomic tourism in the EU and Ukraine, identifying prospects and ways to develop regional gastronomic tourism. The methodological and informational basis of the work is analytical reports and researches related to the development of event tourism and statistics. Systematic and logistical approaches to the studied problems were used to achieve this goal. Various general scientific and special research methods were also used. Based on PESTLE analysis, key aspects of the external environment of gastronomic tourism in Ukraine are identified. We took into account the principles of sustainable development: political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental. The main trends in the development of gastronomic tourism in the world are studied and it is found that the greatest development in the coming years will be the trend of combining gastronomic and event tourism on the basis of sustainable development. The main preconditions and possibilities of introduction of this holistic approach to the strategy of development of the tourist branch of Ukraine are determined. A model of sustainable value chain of gastronomic tourism in the region is formed and the main advantages of its implementation are identified: formation of a regional brand, preservation of culinary traditions, development of green farming, minimization of negative impact on the environment, sustainable development of communities.

Twitter and Retweet Context: User Characteristics and Message Attributes of Twitter for PR and Marketing (기업의 홍보 마케팅용 트위터의 리트윗 현황 분석: 이용자 특성과 콘텐츠 속성을 중심으로)

  • The rapid growth and popularity of Twitter have been one of the most influential phenomena in the era of social network system and the mobile internet, which also opens up opportunities for new business strategies; in particular, PR and marketing area. This study analyzed use of Twitter in terms of user characteristics and message attributes. Actual field data from the Twitter for PR and Marketing of a representative Korean IT company (Company "K") was used for this analysis. Research findings show that overall corporate twitter users show passive attitude in retweet behavior. Also, users who have relatively small network size (less than 1,000) are more active in retweet than power twitterians that have big network size(over than 10,000). It is showed that the rate of retweet is higher in the order of recruiting, promotional event, IT information, and general PR message. In the conclusion section, practical implications based on the research finding are thoroughly discussed.

  • The term "ya-o-ii" which is referred as a homosexual comics in Korea came from Japan and it became one of popular genres in both Japan and Korea's comics market. People create yo-o-ii with their own idea or borrow male characters from the pre-existed comics or animation and create a whole new story. Homosexual comics which is based on teenage readers deals with sex and focuses on homosexuality. For that reason it reflects social phenomenon than general material for comics. Before we focus on influence of homosexual comics on teenagers and social phenomenon, this study is for fundamental understanding on homosexual comics itself. In order to look into current state of homosexual comics, the survey was conducted at "Comic World" which is well known as the biggest offline comic event in Korea. This study analyzes range of age and awareness of readers of homosexual comics on the basis of the survey. Hopefully, this study helps better understand an influence of homosexual comics on teenage readers with problem of sex identity and contribute to the study of market segmentations of homosexual comics.
