Mobility-adaptive QoE Provisioning Solution in Heterogeneous Wireless Access Networks

  • This paper introduces the mobility-adaptive QoE provisioning solution. The key is placed on the intelligent selection of access network depending on the QoE criteria classified by the user mobility and the bandwidth demand for service. We further focus on the network-based smart handover scheme using the mobility-adaptive handover decision and the enhanced MIH-FMIP framework. The concept is the network-based calm service and the balance in order to facilitate vertical and seamless handover. In result, it is figured out that our solution improves QoE performance by selecting appropriate access network, repressing handover occurrence, and reducing handover delay as well.

  • In this paper, the power system with electric vehicles is analyzed considering the mobility and diffusion rate of electric vehicles in the smart grid environment. In the previous studies, load modeling and load composition rates have been researched and the results are applied to develop a new load model to explain the mobility of electric vehicles which could affect on the power system status such as power flow and stability. The results would be utilized to research and develop power system analysis methods considering movable charging characteristics of electric vehicles including movable discharging characteristics which could be affected by the diffusion progress of electric vehicles.

  • Human mobility estimation plays a key factor in a lot of promising applications including location-based recommendation systems, urban planning, and disease outbreak control. We study the human mobility estimation problem in the case where recent locations of a person-of-interest are unknown. Since matrix decomposition is used to perform latent semantic analysis of multi-dimensional data, we propose a human location estimation algorithm based on matrix factorization to reconstruct the human movement patterns through the use of information of persons with correlated movements. Specifically, the optimization problem which minimizes the difference between the reconstructed and actual movement data is first formulated. Then, the gradient descent algorithm is applied to adjust parameters which contribute to reconstructed mobility data. The experiment results show that the proposed framework can be used for the prediction of human location and achieves higher predictive accuracy than a baseline model.

A Study of a Seamless Handover Support for WSN based Information Transmission in Structural Health Monitoring Systems

  • The efficiency and safety of social-overhead capital (SOC) public infrastructures have become an eminent social concern. In this regard, a continuous structural health monitoring has been widely implemented to oversee the robustness of such public infrastructures for the safety of the public. This paper deals with the analysis of a distributed mobility management (DMM) support for wireless sensor network (WSN) based information transmission system. The partial DMM support separates the data and control plane infrastructures, wherein, the control plane is managed by a particular mobility management network entity, while the data plane is distributed by the mobility anchors. The system will be able to optimize the information transmission for a wireless structural health monitoring of SOC public infrastructures specifically designed for bridges, and thus, guarantees the safety of public commuters.

First-mile과 Last-mile을 고려한 자유 주차방식(Free-floating) 개인형 이동장치 공유 서비스 권역 및 운영대수 결정 (Determination of Service Areas and Operating Numbers for Free-floating Personal Mobility Sharing Services)

  • 개인형 이동장치에 대한 관심은 스마트 모빌리티 서비스에서 first-mile 및 last-mile 중요성이 증가함에 따라 높아졌다. 본 연구는 first-mile 및 last-mile 문제를 해결하기 위해 자유 주차방식(free-floating) 개인형 이동장치 공유 서비스 권역 설정 방법론을 제시하고 선정된 공유 서비스 권역을 대상으로 최적의 개인형 이동장치 운영 대수 결정을 목표로 한다. 인구 데이터, 스마트 카드 데이터, 건물 데이터를 사용하였으며, 개인형 이동장치 데이터를 이용하여 연령별, 거리별 이용률을 반영하여 잠재수요를 추정하였다. 추정된 잠재수요와 함께 대중교통 정류장과 건물의 위치를 기반으로 개인형 이동장치 공유 서비스 권역을 설정하였다. 인천 영종도를 대상지로 제안된 방법론을 적용한 결과 거주지가 밀집된 지역과 여행객들이 많은 해변 근처가 개인형 이동장치 공유 서비스 권역으로 선정되었다. 거주지가 밀집된 서비스 권역의 개인형 이동장치 운영대수는 1,022대, 해변 근처 서비스 권역의 개인형 이동장치 운영대수는 269대로 결정되었다.

  • 사용자들이 언제 어디서든 콘텐츠를 생성하고 공유함에 따라 CCN이라고 하는 새로운 네트워킹 구조가 등장하게 되었다. CCN은 IP 주소가 아닌 콘텐츠 이름 자체를 패킷 식별자로 사용하는 방식을 취하고 있다. 그러나, 현재 CCN 프로토콜은 콘텐츠 소스의 이동성을 지원하는데 문제를 갖고 있으며, 이로 인해 패킷 전달시 긴 전송 지연과 긴 서비스 단절 문제를 나타낸다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해, 계층적 이동성 관리 방안이 제시되었으나, 이 또한 interest 패킷의 손실과 긴 핸드오프 지연이라는 문제를 갖고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 하이브리드 형태의 이동성 관리 방안을 제시하며, 성능 분석으로 제안 방안이 감소된 제어 오버헤드의 손실율을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

메타버스 리얼리티를 위한 공유 모빌리티 기반 국부적 미세먼지 관측 기술 연구 (A Study on the Local Particulate Matter Monitoring Technology using Shared-Use Mobilities for Metaverse Reality)

  • In this study, we developed a 'shared-use mobility'-mounted local particulate matter monitoring terminal technology to measure the actual particulate matter concentration around me. As a mobile terminal device in the form of an IoT sensor platform, it is designed to be separated into a control module and a sensor module to minimize interference between sensors and to consider the optimal observation position of each sensor. As a result of the field test, it was confirmed that particulate matter was locally different depending on time and space even within the same area. In addition, it was confirmed that the concentration of particulate matter in the relevant section differed by up to 100 times compared to the surrounding area due to specific sources of particulate matter such as unpaved roads. In addition, we positively reviewed the applicability of the service in the real-time metaverse environment using this result. Through technological advancement and application of multiple shared-use mobilities, we expect to be able to provide new services for practical smart city air environment monitoring, such as localized particulate matter information, air pollution event information, and identification of causes of particulate matter.

Development of a Carbon Emission Prediction Model for Bulk Carrier Based on EEDI Guidelines and Factor Interpretation Using SHAP

  • The model developed in this study holds significant importance in predicting carbon emissions in maritime transport. By utilizing ship data and EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) guidelines, the model presents a highly accurate prediction tool, providing a solid foundation for maximizing operational efficiency and effectively managing carbon emissions in ship operations. The model's accuracy was demonstrated by an R2 score of 0.95 and a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 1.4%. Through SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) and Partial Dependence Plots (PDP), it was identified that Speed Over Ground and relative wind speed are the most significant variables, both showing a positive correlation with increased CO2 emissions. Additionally, environmental factors such as exceeding an average draft of 22(m), a Leeway over 5°, and a current angle exceeding 200° were found to increase emissions significantly. Specific ranges of wind and swell wave angles also notably affected emissions. Conversely, lower pitch, roll, and rudder angle were associated with reduced emissions, indicating that stable ship operation enhances efficiency.

실시간 SAR 영상 생성을 위한 Range Doppler Algorithm의 GPU 가속 (GPU Acceleration of Range Doppler Algorithm for Real-Time SAR Image Generation)

  • 본 논문에서는 FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) 기반 실시간 영상 형성을 위해 RDA(Range Doppler Algorithm)의 GPU 가속 커널을 개발하였다. Host와 GPU device 사이의 데이터 전송 시간을 최소화하기 위해 pinned 메모리를 사용하였고, 데이터의 전송 횟수를 최소화하기 위해 모든 RDA 연산을 GPU에서 수행하도록 커널을 구성하였다. FMCW 드론 SAR 실험을 통해 데이터셋를 획득하였고, intel i7-9700K CPU, 32GB RAM과 Nvidia RTX 3090 GPU 환경에서 GPU의 가속 효과를 측정하였다. Host-device간 데이터 전송 시간을 포함했을 경우 CPU 대비 최대 3.41배 가속된 것으로 측정되었고, 데이터 전송 시간을 포함하지 않고 연산의 가속 효과만을 측정했을 때, 최대 156배 가속 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.
