  • Mathematical models for hit probabilities of small arms are developed in order to estimate the expected hits on an aircraft for certain altitudes and air speeds. A model for the firing lead angle is developed for cases when the distribution of hits is normal and the firing angle is from 20 degrees to 160 degrees. probabilities of hit for single and multiple shots at various altitudes are calculated. Tables are given showing the probability of hits and kill for targets flying at high speed above 500 feet from ground level.

  • In the conventional weapon system, such as gun and small arms, it Is a general trend that for maximization of its performance and enhancement of its effectiveness, the firing control system(FCS) is developed and applied with the guns and small arms in the world. The FCS of the small arms for infantry man is composed of a few of sensors for acquisition of input data of FCS, such as range measurement, position sensing of weapon, temperature, etc., computer, displayer and power pack, and also the air burst munition is developed in parallel for the maximization of FCS's effectiveness. Since the flight time setting fuze for the air burst munition is adapted for next me, the measuring device of the muzzle velocity is needed to overcome the variation of muzzle velocity due to producing procedures and the differences of the using temperatures and so maintain the burst position accuracy This paper contained the technical information on the development of the measuring device of muzzle velocity, which designed in compact & light weight configuration with reliability and accuracy.

  • Robot mobility and intelligence become more important for robots to be used in various fields other than automation. The main purpose of providing mobility to a robot is to extend the robot's manipulability. In this paper, we introduce a small humanoid robot that can autonomously play golf as an example of incorporating robot intelligence, mobility, and manipulability. The robot has 12 degrees of freedom for legs and has various basic walking patterns. It can move to a desired position and change orientation by combining the basic waking patterns. The robot has a color CCD camera and can extract coordinates of the objects in the environments. The small humanoid robot has 8 degrees of freedom for arms and can play golf autonomously with two kinds of dexterous swing motions. Kinematic analysis of the robot arms, vision data processing for the recognition of the environments, algorithm for playing robotic golf have been performed or proposed. The experimental results show that the robot can play golf autonomously.

  • A combination of acerocarininc-Wright C-banding technique was utilized to identify each chromosomes in durum wheat ,Triticum durum var. Hordeiforme (2n=4x=28 AABB), This technique elucidated qualitativr and quantitative traits of the indi-vidual chromosomes In coinplement. Most comspicuous bands were observed at thecentromere of B-genome chronmosomes. Each chromosomes of A-genome had some-what weak centromeric, proximal and terminal bands. Chromosomes 2A and 4A hasa small subterminal bands. 6A is smallest and metacentric chromosome and , has two faint interstitial band. Chromosomes 1B and 6B showed satellite and constriction lage band. Short arm of 3B has three heavily interstitial bands. Both arms of chromosome 4B has a lagc centromeric band and a very lage proximal band. 5B had heavilycentromeric band and the long arm showed prominent two interstitial bands. Chromo-somes 25 and 7B has a small terminal band of both arms.

  • Compared with traditional transmission towers, T-shaped angle towers have long cross-arms and are specially used for ultrahigh-voltage direct-current (UHVDC) transmission. Nevertheless, the wind loads of T-shaped towers have not received much attention in previous studies. Consequently, a series of wind tunnel tests on the T-shaped towers featuring cross-arms of varying lengths were conducted using the high-frequency force balance (HFFB) technique. The test results reveal that the T-shaped tower's drag coefficients nearly remain constant at different testing velocities, demonstrating that Reynolds number effects are negligible in the test range of 1.26 × 104-2.30 × 104. The maximum values of the longitudinal base shear and torsion of the T-shaped tower are reached at 15° and 25° of wind incidence, respectively. In the yaw angle, the crosswind coefficients of the tower body are quite small, whereas those of the cross-arms are significant, and as a result, the assumption in some load codes (such as ASCE 74-2020, IEC 60826-2017 and EN 50341-1:2012) that the resultant force direction is the same as the wind direction may be inappropriate for the cross-arm situation. The fitting formulas for the wind load-distribution factors of the tower body and cross-arms are developed, respectively, which would greatly facilitate the determination of the wind loads on T-shaped angle towers.

  • This study selected a representative small arm firing range and analyzed the distribution of heavy metal pollutants such as Pb, Cu, Zn, etc. For this the concentrations of heavy metals in soils, roots and leaves of plants, and water of the small arm firing range were measured. The concentrations of heavy metals in the effluent were also checked during precipitation. The concentration of lead in the samples collected from the top soil(0-5 cm) and sub soil(5-50 cm) near the target in the small arm firing range exceeded the concern level of the Soil Environment Conservation Act of Korea, but not in other soil samples. Plants that grow in soil heavily contaminated with lead showed a high lead concentration, especially in roots. However, the concentration of lead in effluent from the small arm firing range was less than 0.02 ppm. The concentration of copper and zinc in the small arm firing range did not surpass the concern level of the Soil Environment Conservation Act of Korea. Through this study more accurate information on the distribution of heavy metal pollution in the soil of the small arm firing range was obtained. Based on this research, we can conclude that some facility improvements can reduce the spreading of pollutants in the currently used small arm firing range and contribute to the design and operation of advanced small arm firing ranges.
