Cogging Force Verification of the Back-yoke Length of a Moving-coil-type Slotless Linear Synchronous Motor

  • The coreless linear synchronous motor (coreless LSM) has been widely used as a driving source of semiconductor production processes for machine speeding up, positioning accuracy and simple maintenance. However, this coreless LSM suffers the disadvantage of decreased thrust force created by the leakage of magnetic flux. With the goal of increasing the generated thrust force and decreasing the cogging force, the slot of the core part was removed and a moving-coil-type slotless LSM (moving-coil-type slotless LSM) is proposed in this paper. Although this moving-coil-type slotless LSM with a back-yoke at the primary side demonstrated an increase in the generated thrust force, it remained capable of generating the cogging force when the primary side was moved due to the position between the permanent magnet and the back-yoke. Therefore, we attempted to decrease the cogging force of the moving-coil-type slotless LSM. We found that the back-yoke length at the primary side needs to be made $0.5{\tau}$ longer than the integral multiple of the magnetic pole pitch in order to decrease the cogging force created by the moving-coil-type slotless LSM.

  • Slotless 선형 동기 전동기(Linear Synchronous Motor)는 가동자의 구조가 간단하고 1차측 철심의 슬롯을 제거하여 갭 중의 자기에너지를 균일화해 추력 변동을 억제할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 또한 고효율로 구동이 가능하고 제어성이 타 선형 전동기에 비해 뛰어나 반송장치의 적용이 확대 되고 있는 실정이다. 하지만 주거 환경 분야의 적용은 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Slotless 선형 동기 전동기의 주거 환경 분야 적용을 위해 위치 피드백 제어에 따른 구동 특성을 고찰하고 속도 진동의 최소화와 안정된 응답 특성을 얻기 위해 부하 탑재와 가속도를 변화시켜 위치 피드백 제어를 비교함으로써 제어기의 유용함을 입증한다.

  • This paper deals with dynamic analysis method of a slotless type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using 3-dimensional space harmonic method. The results are good agreement with FEA results because that slotless type PMLSM has simple structure and no saturation of core. And then, Under open-loop control, starting characteristic is analyzed by voltage equation combining with dynamic equation. In order to obtain more accuracy results, this paper use instantaneous back-EMF and thrust instead of back-EMF constant and thrust constant.

  • BLDCMs are widely used in many industries. In certain specialized areas, they need to have high efficiency, high power rate and produce a low volume of noise, etc. In this study, a new type of slotless BLDCM is proposed that has no cogging torque, low iron loss and low volume as compared to commonly used BLDCMs. With a high performance magnet and coreless compact winding structure similar to those employed in linear synchronous motors, motor volume is reduced. The proposed motor has been put been through various experiments arid has demonstrated acceptable results for industry applications.

  • This paper is presented for evaluating the performance of slotless Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motors (PMLSM) Which is energized by partially excited primary current. Especially the influence of end-effect due to the moving magnet is investigated in detail. Also partial excitation of primary current for better efficiency and its switching behavior are suggested Capability of PMLSM which is related to speed-force feasibility judging whether motor can meet the desired specifications in the dynamics are investigated. Furthermore control characteristics of PMLSM are considered to verify the validity of dynamic capability in running condition.

  • This paper presents the dynamic analysis method for a slotless permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) using the 3-D space harmonic method. Instantaneous emf and thrust are considered by movement of the PM and instantaneous armature current instead of $K_E$ (back-emf constant) and $K_F$(thrust force constant) for accurate results. The results of magnetic field distribution, back-emf, inductance, and thrust are in agreement with 2-D FEM and experimental results. To confirm the validity of this method, the calculated results are compared to measured ones.

  • This paper deals with characteristic analysis method of the slotless type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) using the space harmonic method. Analysis models of the PM and the armature current are described by the magnetization configurations taking into account the 2D and 3D distribution. In 3D analysis, the thrust and normal force can be calculated more accurately, because it can consider the z component flux density which is impossible in 2D analysis. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, the results of the analytic method are compared with not only the experimental ones but ones of Finite Element Method(FEM).

  • This paper presents drive analysis of slotless air-cored PM linear synchronous motor using two-dimensional analytical method. In order to calculate dynamic characteristic, back-EMF and linkage flux are calculated by Permanent Magnet Field and also inductance are given by slotless winding current coil. PMLSM drive simulation is performed by PI control system.

  • The development of modern high-energy magnet materials has allowed the replacement of field coils in many different types of electromagnetic energy conversion machines. As well, the linear synchronous motor has recently been proposed for linear motion with high efficiency and thrust. Thus, this paper presents an analytical solution for the high thrust and cost reduction of the Iron-Cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) considering magnetization arrays and geometry. Hence, the superior utilization points in each of the magnetization arrays are provided by the height ratio of the magnet/air-gap and magnet/winding coil, etc. In formulation, the space harmonic method in analytical solutions and the generalized 2-D tensor finite element analysis can be used to evaluate force components in magneto static devices including the magnetostrictive phenomenon.
