A study on the sheet drawing using the Matrix method (Matrix법을 이용한 판재 인발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper represents the analysis of the sheet drawing by applying the Matrix method to Hill's slip-line field for small reduction and indirect type slip-line field in case of large reduction. Results of the analysis represent the relation between the reduction ratio and the die wall pressure, mean drawing stress through rough die. The limitation on the use of this slip-line field is described. When the reduction ratio is given, the optimum die angle is analyzed in this paper.

Stability Analysis of the Optimal Semi-Trailer Vehicles

  • Stability of truck and trailer are the most significance in Thai automotive industry. This paper presents the mathematical model of a six-degree-of-freedom semi-trailer vehicle. Search method was implemented to obtain the optimum design variables of the trailer which are the distance from the fifth wheel to the centroid of the trailer and the distance from the centroid of the trailer to the trailer axel. The objective function is to minimize the steady side slip velocity, steady-state yawing velocity and steady-state angle between the tractor and the trailer. From the calculation , the optimum distance from the fifth wheel to the centroid of the trailer and the optimum distance from the centroid of the trailer to the trailer axle are 5.50 and 3.25 meters respectively. The stability of the optimal semi-trailer vehicle was also examined in steady state. The steady side slip velocity, yawing velocity and the angle between tractor and trailer are also obtained using linearization technique under unit step disturbance of the tractor front wheel steering angle.

  • This paper describes the development of a nonlinear observer for four wheel steer (4WS) vehicle. An observer is designed to estimate the vehicle variables difficult to measure directly. A brake yaw motion controller (BYMC), which uses a PID control method, is also proposed for controlling the brake pressure of the rear and inner wheels to enhance lateral stability. It induces the yaw rate to track the reference yaw rate, and it reduces a slip angle on a slippery road. The braking and steering performances of the anti-lock brake system (ABS) and BYMC are evaluated for various driving conditions, including straight, J-turn, and sinusoidal maneuvers. The simulation results show that developed ABS reduces the stopping distance and increases the longitudinal stability. The observer estimates velocity, slip angle, and yaw rate of 4WS vehicle very well. The results also reveal that the BYMC improves vehicle lateral stability and controllability when various steering inputs are applied.

On the Motion of the Structure Varying Multibody Systems with Two-Dimensional Dry Friction

  • In the present paper the dynamics of the structure varying multibody systems caused by stick-slip motion with two-dimensional dry friction are analyzed. The methods to determine friction force both in stick and slip states are described. The direct method of considering the wagon bogie system as a structure varying system was used to consider two dimensional friction at the wheelset-side frame connection. The concept of friction direction angle used to determine the friction force components of two-dimensional dry friction both in the stick and slip motion states was used. A speed depended friction coefficient was used and described approximately by hyperbolic secant function. All switch conditions were derived and friction forces both for stick and slip states. Some simulation results are provided.

Slip Considered Design and Analysis Pincers-type Gripper for Seizing Heavy-weighted Cylindrical Objects (고중량의 원통형 작업대상물 파지용 집게형 그리퍼의 슬립 조건과 이를 반영한 설계 및 해석)

  • This paper dealt with a pincers-type gripper being able to grip a heavy-weighted cylindrical object having various size with itself. This gripper should be designed to seize the objects without any change of jaw shape. Grasping achieved equilibrium after the object slipped on the jaw while grasping it. To cope with this situation, we suggested the slip considered gripper design procedure based on grasping equilibrium. The obtained slip condition can provide a limit friction coefficient depending on the contact angle when initiating contact between jaw and object. Consequently, the gripping force and the required actuating force can be calculated. In order to verify the proposed slip condition, the simulations were performed using a dynamic software.

  • The rural labor force has gradually been decreasing due to the decrement of the farm population and the increment of the aging population. To solve these problems, it is necessary to develop and study autonomous agricultural machinery. Therefore, analyzing the dynamic behavior of vehicles in an autonomous agricultural environment is important. Until now, most studies on agricultural machinery, especially on ground vehicle dynamics, have been done by field tests. However, these field test methods are time consuming and costly with seasonal restrictions. A research method that can replace existing field test methods by using simulations is needed. In this study, we did basic research analyzing the effect of the travelling speed of a tractor on tire slip using simulation software. A tractor simulation model was developed based on field conditions following a straight path. The simulation was done for three ranges of speed: 20 - 30 km/h (considered the normal travelling speed range), 6 - 8 km/h (considered the plow tillage speed range) and 2 - 4 km/h (considered the rotary tillage speed range). The results of the simulation show that the slip ratio and slip angle values tended to increase as the traveling speed range of the tractor decreased. From the simulation results, it can be concluded that at low tractor speeds, it becomes more difficult to control the vehicle path. In future research, simulations will be done with various work environments such as a curved path as well as with various friction coefficient conditions, and the simulation results will be experimentally verified by applying them to an agricultural tractor.

A Study on the High Performance Slip Power Recovery System in Induction Motor (유도전동기의 고성능 슬립전력 회수방식에 대한 연구)

  • Among the variable-speed AC motor drive systems, the static slip power recovery system has been widely adopted in large power drives because a high efficiency drive can be obtained by recovering the slip power to the AC line. Although many improvements have been made in this system, several problems also remain such as the need of transformer in inverter AC side, which results in limiting speed control range and increasing the losses, production of reactive power by the control of inverter firing angle, harmonics in line currents, and so on. This paper presents the novel high performance slip power recovery system using the boost converter and small size filter in the rotor circuit, which recovers slip power of a wound rotor induction machine to AC supply efficiently with the aid of the boost converter, in which most of the problems in conventional system can be solved. The speed can be controlled by the duty ratio of the converter switch, not by inverter firing angle. As a results, the proposed system can operate in high power factor and the harmonic currents caused by the inverter and rectifier can be considerably suppressed. The validity of the proposed system verified by demonstrating the good agreement in the simulation and experimental results.

  • As the traffic congestion and parking problems in urban areas are increased the tall and narrow commuter vehicles have interested as a means to increase the utilization of existing freewa- ys and parking facilities. However, in hard cornering those vehicles could reduce stability against overturning compared to conventional vehicles. This tendency can be mitigated by tilting the body toward the inside of the turn. In this paper those tilting vehicles are considered in which at speed at least, the tilt angle is controlled by steering the front wheels. In other word, if the driver turns the steering wheel the tilt controller automatically steers the road wheel to tilt the body inside of the turn. Also, the dynamic tilting vehicle model with tire slip angles is constructed by adding the roll degree of freedom. Finally, through computer simulation the behaviors of the tilting vehicles are investigated.

  • This paper presents the effects of rotor time constant variation and the on-line tuning algorithm of the rotor time constant. If the value of the rotor time constant is set incorrectly, the IFOC (Indirect Field Oriented Control)scheme exhibits deteriorated performance according to the wrong slip command. These variation effects of the rotor time constant are caused by the slip calculator where it is known that the rotor time constant play an important role in the aligned rotor flux. Using the two torque angles (stationary torque angle, rotating torque angle), the variation of the rotor time constant is identified, and the rotor time constant of the controller is tuned to the proper value of the machine. As the result, with the proposed algorithm, the dynamics of the deteriorated IFOC system, where the rotor time constant is varied, is improved. For the purpose of the validity of this proposed algorithm, the computer simulations and the experiments have been performed and the explanation of the results is presented.   • The starting characteristics of single phase induction motor(SPIM) is described by control of phase and voltage. Auxiliary winding voltage is controlled by DC amplifier and phase is integrator. These processes enable comparison of torque with slip in each voltage and phase angle variations. Simulation and experimentation results of the motor's torque-slip characteristics using the controlled auxiliary winding voltage and phase angle arc shown and discussed. As a results, starting time is fast and main winding current is small when auxiliary winding voltage is low than rating voltage and starting characteristics is good in phase angle $90^{\circ}$.
