  • A new robust sliding mode controller is formulated for the tip position control of a single-link flexible manipulator with parameter variations. After establishing the plant model characterized by a noncollocated uncertain control system, a sliding surface which guarantees stable sliding mode motion is synthesized in an optimal manner. The surface is then modified to adapt arbitrarily given initial conditions. A discontinuous control law associated with the modified surface is designed by restricting that velocity state variables are not available from direct sensor measurements. Using the proposed control law favorable system responses are accomplished through shortening the reaching phase of state trajectory without increasing maximum control torque as well as undesirable chattering. Furthermore, a low sensitiveness to uncertainties is obtained from inherent salient properties of the proposed control system. Computer simulations are undertaken in order to demonstrate these superior control performance characteristics to be accrued from the proposed methodology.

  • A robust position control method of the BLDC motor using a new sliding mode control strategy is presented. The main property of variable structure system(VSS) is that the system response is robust and insensitive to parameter variations and external disturbances in the sliding mode. When using the conventional VSS, generally the reaching phase problem occurs, which cause the system response to be sensitive to parameter variations and external disturbances. Furthermore, the speed of response is relatively slow because the swithching surface is a linear function. In order to overcome these problems, VSS with nonlinear sliding surface eliminating reaching phase is proposed. The validity of the proposed scheme is shown by results of simulations of simulations and experiments for the BLDC motor with variable load.

  • 본 논문은 고정 슬라이딩면을 갖는 가변 구조 제어기의 단점인 도달영역에서의 파리미터의 불확실성과 외부 외란에 대한 민간성을 감소시키는 방안으로 고정 슬라이딩면 대신 비선형 퍼지 슬라이딩면을 제시한다. 비선형 퍼지 슬라이딩면을 통하여 시스템 상태 궤적이 초기 위치에서부터 평형점에 이르기까지 외란과 파라미터의 불확실성에 강인하게 되며 아울러 고정 슬라이딩면까지의 도달시간 뿐만 아니라 평형점까지의 도달시간도 감소하게 되는 특성을 보이고자 한다. 본 논문은 회전 역진자을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 알고리즘을 적용하여 타당성을 입증하였다.

FIB를 이용한 트라이보층에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Tribolayer using Focused Ion Beam (FIB))

  • Focused Ion Beam (FIB) has been used for site-specific TEM sample preparation and small scale fabrication. Moreover, analysis on the surface microstructure and phase distribution is possible by ion channeling contrast of FIB with high resolution. This paper describes FIB applications and deformed surface structure induced by sliding. The effect of FIB process on the surface damage was explored as well. The sliding experiments were conducted using high purity aluminum and OFHC(Oxygen-Free High Conductivity) copper. The counterpart material was steel. Pin-on-disk, Rotational Barrel Gas Gun and Explosively Driven Friction Tester were used for the sliding experiments in order to investigate the velocity effect on the microstructural change. From the FIB analysis, it is revealed that ion channeling contrast of FIB has better resolution than SEM and the tribolayer is composed of nanocrystalline structures. And the thickness of tribolayer was constant regardless of sliding velocities.

  • Understanding of wear mode and prediction of wear rate of parts in sliding contact are very important in field of meterial design relating with wear resistant. This paper has been undertaken to analyze the possibility of elucidation of wear mode and prediction of wear rate for annealed steel in sliding contact using the X-ray diffraction. The sliding wear test with various velocities using pin-on-disc machine and the X-ray diffraction test on the worn surface have been carried out. The results have been shown that the magnitude of residual stress and half-value breadth on the worn surface have a good correlation with wear mode. The difference between before and after test of half-value breadth on worn surface has been shown to be exponential relation with wear rate in the same wear mode.

$Al_2O_3-TiC$의 마찰 및 마모특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of $Al_2O_3-TiC$)

  • Friction and wear behavior of hot isostatic pressed $Al_2O_3-TiC$ was experimentally examined. Pin-on-disk type friction and wear apparatus was designed and manufactured for the experiment. The experiments were conducted under unlubricated sliding motion in both low and high humidity for three kinds of sliding speed. $Al_2O_3-TiC$ and bearing steel were used as counterface materials. Friction coefficient, wear rate, and surface roughness were measured. Wear surface and wear debris were observed through optical microscope and SEM and analyzed by EDAX. The results showed that the counterface materials, the sliding speed, and the moisture at the sliding surface have significant influence on the friction coefficient and wear rate of $Al_2O_3-TiC$.

  • In this paper, a novel sliding surface is proposed by introducing a virtual state. This sliding surface has nominal dynamics of an original system and makes it possible that the Sliding Mode Control(SMC) technique is used with the various types of controllers. Its design is based on the augmented system whose dynamics have one higher order than that of the original system. The reaching phase is removed by using an initial virtual state which makes the initial switching function equal to zero.

온수나방 시스템의 디지틀 가변구조제어 (Digital Variable Structure Control for a Hot Water Heating System)

  • A pilot plant, which is simplified the hot water heating control system of a large scale residential building, is used to investigate the effects of control methods and operating conditions on the system performance and to compare control characteristics. Digital variable structure controller(DVSC) and digital PI controller are implemented to control the speed of the circulating pump for the pilot plant using PC. For the DVSC, a control algorithm is suggested, which using a nonlinear sliding surface and a PID sliding surface outside and inside of output error boundary layer, respectively. Smith predictor algorithm is used for the compensation of long dead time. The suggested DVSC yields improved control performance compared with existing DVSC using linear sliding surface only. the system responses with the suggested DVSC shows good responses without overshoot for various operating conditions and robust under external disturbances compared with digital PI controller.

  • Almost all of control methods proposed so far have been designed such that the overall system guarantees asymptotic stability. It implies that the output converges to zero but not reaches to zero in a finite time. In many actual cases, however, it is preferable to design the controller such that the output gets to zero in a finite time. In this paper, we proposed a novel elliptical sliding surface. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, experimental results are given.

  • This paper presents a integral-augumented nonlinear sliding surface without a reaching phase. The conventional linear sliding surface has reaching phase, and sliding mode can't realized during this phase, the trajectories may he sensitive to the load disturbances. An proposed algorithm does not have reaching phase, so robust to the load disturbances.
