Dynamic responses of structures with sliding base

  • This paper presents dynamic responses of structures with sliding base which limits the translation of external loads from ground excitation. A discrete element model based on the discontinuous deformation analysis method is proposed to study this sliding boundary problem. The sliding base is simulated using sets of fictitious contact springs along the sliding interface. The set of contact spring is to translate friction force from ground to superstructure. Validity of the proposed model is examined by the closed-form solutions of an idealized mass-spring structural model subjected to harmonic ground excitation. This model is also applied to a problem of a three-story structural model subjected to the ground excitation of 1940 El Centro earthquake. Analyses of both sliding-base and fixed-base conditions are performed as comparisons. This study shows that using this model can simulate the dynamic response of a sliding structure with frictional cut-off quite accurately. Results reveal that lowering the frictional coefficient of the sliding joint will reduce the peak responses. The structure responses in little deformation, but it displaces at the end of excitation.

  • In this paper, a reconfigurable flight control system is designed by applying the sliding mode control scheme. The sliding mode control method is a nonlinear control method which has been widely used because of its merits such as robustness and flexibility. In the sliding mode controller design, the signum function is usually included, but it causes the undesirable chattering problem. The chattering phenomenon can be avoided by using the saturation function instead of signum function. However, the boundary layer of the sliding surface should be carefully treated because of the use of the saturation function. In contrast to the conventional approaches, the thickness of the boundary layer of our approach does not need to be small. The reachability to the boundary layer is guaranteed by the sliding mode controller. The fault detection and isolation process is operated based on a sliding mode observer. To evaluate the reconfiguration performance, a numerical simulation using six degree-of-freedom aircraft dynamics is performed.

퍼지 논리를 이용한 슬라이딩 모드 제어기의 인자 자동 튜닝

  • Sliding mode control guarantees robustness in the presence of modeling uncertainties and external disturbances. However, this can be obtained at the cost of high control activity that may lead to chattering As one way to alleviate this problem a boundary layer around sliding surface is typically used. In this case the selection of controller gain, control ban width and boundary layer thickness is a crucial problem for the trade-off between tracking error and chattering. The parameter tuning is usually done by trail-and-error in practice causing significant effort and time. An auto tuning method based on fuzzy rules is proposed in the paper in this method tracking error and chattering are monitored by performance indices and the controller tunes the design parameters intelligently in order to compromise both indices. To demonstrate the efficiency of the propose method a mass-spring translation system and a roboic control system are simulated and tested It is shown that the proposed algorithm is effective to facilitae the parameter tuning for sliding mode controllers.

  • Continuous sliding mode control is applied to turning process for cutting force regulation. The highest feedrate compatible with the allowable cutting force is applied in rough cutting process such that maximum productivity is ensured and tool breakage is avoided. The programmed feedrate is overridden after the control algorithm is carried out. However, most CNC lathe manufacturers offer limited number of data bits far feedrate override, thus resulting in nonlinear behavior of the machine tools. Such nonlinearity brings “quantized” effect, and the optimal faedrate is rounded off before being fed into the CNC system. To compensate for this problem, continuous sliding mode control is applied. Conventional switching control law at a sliding surface is replaced by a smooth control interpolation in a selected boundary layer to avoid the excitation of high-frequency dynamics. Simulation results are presented in comparison with those obtained by applying adaptive control.

2단 슬라이딩 제어기법을 이용한 인공위성의 궤도조정 (ORBITAL MANEUVER USING TWO-STEP SLIDING MODE CONTROL)

  • 인공위성의 궤도조정에 사용되는 소모연료의 최적화를 위해, 비 선형 제어 시스템인 슬라이딩 제어 기법을 사용하여 지구 비대칭 중력장에 의해 섭동력을 고려한 궤도조정 문제의 해를 구하였다. 결합 방정식을 이용한 해법을 통해 총 속도 변화량이 최소가 되는 Lambert 궤도를 목표궤도로 설정하고 그에 따른 궤도조정 시간을 결정하였다. 결정된 궤도조정 시간이 종료되는 시점에서 제한된 추력에 의해 제어되는 인공위성의 상태 백터가 경계조건과 일치되도록 하기 위하여, 슬라이딩 제어를 반복적으로 사용하는 2단 슬라이딩 제어기법을 도입하였으며, 이를 인공위성 랑데뷰 문제에 적용하여 최적 에어방법에 의한 결과와 비교하였다. 새롭게 제안된 제어방법을 이용한 궤도조정은 이상적인 전이궤도인 Lambert 궤도와 근접한 궤도를 갖도록 하는 thrust-coast-thrust 형태의 추력을 나타내었으며, 이 때 필요한 속도의 변화량은 Lambert's two-impulsive 방법에 의한 값에 매우 근접한 값을 나타내었다. 또한 궤도조정 시간이 종료되었을 때, 궤도의 모든 상태변수들이 최종 경계조건과 거의 일치되는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Planar plastic flow of polymers near very rough walls

  • The main objective of the present paper is to investigate, by means of a boundary value problem permitting a semi-analytic solution, qualitative behaviour of solutions for two pressure-dependent yield criteria used for plastically incompressible polymers. The study mainly focuses on the regime of friction (sticking and sliding). It is shown that the existence of the solution satisfying the regime of sticking depends on other boundary conditions. In particular, there is such a class of boundary conditions depending on the yield criterion adopted that the regime of sliding is required for the existence of the solution independently of the friction law.

  • In this paper, A new time-varying sliding surface design using eigenvalue locus is proposed to achieve fast and robust in a class of high-order uncertain dynamic system. A moving sliding surface(MSS) was proposed earlier for the second-order variable structure control systems(VSCS). This methodology led to fast and robust control responses of the second-order VSCS. However, the moving algorithm of the MSS was too complicated to be employed the high-order VSCS. To resolve this problem, we propose a new moving algorithm that switching surface moves such that the eigenvalues of equivalent system in the sliding mode have a predetermined locus. Using the proposed surface fast and robust behaviors are accomplished. The problem of chattering can be eliminated by using a boundary layer of switching surface. The efficiency of proposed algorithm is illustrated by an application to four-order workbench.

  • The sliding mode controller(SMC) is very famous controller for nonlinear control. However the SMC has a defect which is chattering problem. In this paper, we introduce the novel method which reduce the chattering problem. And we compare the performance with conventional methods, such as using low pass filter(LPF), boundary layer approach.

  • In this study is proposed the advanced elasto-plastic analytical method which can identify complex structural behaviors on the splice part of steel structures such as sliding and plastic contact problem between splice plates and blots. Compliated boundary conditions and various manufacturing defects are considered in various analytical cases. In the design or repair phase the plastic behavior and ultimate strength of splice parts should be very carefully verified to extend the service life of steel structures.

채터링 감소를 위한 퍼지 슬라이딩 섹터 제어 (Fuzzy-Sliding-Sector Control for Chattering Reduction)

  • 채터링 현상은 VSS의 주요한 약점이며 이 문제를 극복하기위하여 많은 연구들이 발표되었다. 슬라이딩 섹터 이론이 최근에 발표되었으며, 본 논문에서는 섹터 내부에 연속입력함수를 가진 슬라이딩 섹터이론을 이용하여 시변 경계층을 가진 퍼지제어를 제안하고, 슬라이딩 섹터에 리아프노프 함수를 이용하여 안정도를 분석한다. 역진자 시스템에 컴퓨터 시물레이션을 통하여 채터링 현상의 제거를 확인한다.
