세종시대 창제된 소간의(小簡儀)의 현대적 개조와 태양의 고도 및 방위각 관측 (Modern Reformation of So-ganui Invented during King Sejong Period and It's Altitude and Azimuth of the Sun Observations)

  • The purpose of this study was to explain how extraordinary the scientific technology or our ancestor was from the modern perspective by remodeling the most unique astronomical instrument, So-ganui (小簡儀), developed in the Sejong Period (世宗時代) after being examined with contemporary and the principles of the science and observational technology would be properly understood and measured directly. When measuring the altitude of the sun and azimuth using So-ganui, it was adjusted with the horizontal coordinate system and measured using Jipyeonghwan (地平環), Ipeunhwan (立運環) and Guyhyeong (窺衡). Based such measuring principles, the measurement accuracy proposed using So-ganui are as follows. The remodeled So-ganui produced approximately ${\pm}0.29$ degrees error on average at high altitude while in measuring the azimuth degrees, there was difference of ${\pm}0.35$ degrees. Since the theoretically, the measurement error for So-ganui was ${\pm}0.5$ degrees, the remodeled So-ganui could accurately measure at the high altitude compared to So-ganui from the Sejong period. In the study, So-ganui, which has disappeared, has been remodeled in modern perspective to be used as the educational material to accurately understand the principles of science and measurement technology from the Sejong period. The findings could contribute to raising the reputation in the astronomical observations from the documents from the Sejong period. Furthermore, this study has materialized the celestial and sky our ancestors have viewed with the observational principles of their times, on the computer screen via a webcam, bringing out interest in the traditional science for the students.

광양만 권역의 영역 설정에 따른 입자확산 및 대기질 수치모의 비교 (Numerical Simulation and Comparison of Particle Dispersion and Air Quality with Domain Setting of Gwangyang Bay Area)

  • Recirculation of airmass in coastal region occurs because of the change from land to sea breeze and was shown to produce a contrary result on air quality. This study examines the numerical simulation to analyze the effect of recirculation flow in Gwangyang Bay, Korea. For this purpose two case studies are performed by the WRF-FLEXPART-CMAQ modeling system, each for a different Meso-Synoptic Index. Additionally this research make a comparative study of large domain (Domain L) and small domain (Domain S). The horizontal wind fields are simulated from WRF. Changes in the land-sea breeze have an effect on the particle dispersion modeling. The numerical simulation of air quality is carried out to investigate the recirculation of ozone. Ozone is transported to eastward under strong synoptic condition (Case_strong) because of westerly synoptic flow and this pattern can confirm in all domain. However ozone swept off by the land breeze and then transported to northward along sea breeze under conditions of clear sky and weak winds (Case_weak). In this case re-advected ozone isn't simulate in Domain S. The study found that recirculation of airmass must be concerned when numerical simulation of air quality is performed in coastal region, especially on a sunny day.

DEEP-South: Preliminary Lightcurve Analysis of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs)

  • Near Earth Asteroid (NEA) population has attracted keen attention not only from the scientific community but from the general public ever since their terrestrial impact risk achieved wide recognition. Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs), the subset of NEAs, recently became the center of interest of planetary defense folks and mining industry due to their proximity to, and the potential effects on planet Earth. However, we have long been ignorant about either the physical properties or dynamical source regions of individual objects. For instance, their rotational periods are only known for five percent of the total population (The NEA Database of DLR, updated on Feb 2016). The primary scientific objective of DEEP-South (DEep Ecliptic Patrol of the Southern sky) is to physically characterize 70 percent of km-class PHAs until 2019. In order to achieve this goal, we implemented an observation mode so-called "OC (Opposition Census)" targeting objects around opposition. OC observations were conducted during the period between Feb 2015 and Mar 2016, at CTIO in early periods, and at three KMTNet stations (CTIO, SSO and SAAO) since late July 2015, excluding the "bulge season" when the telescope time is exclusively used for exoplanet search. We present the preliminary lightcurves of 66 PHAs and 59 NEAs that we obtained during the OC runs.

적설역에서 나타나는 적외 휘도온도와 반사도 특성 (The Characteristics of Visible Reflectance and Infra Red Band over Snow Cover Area)

  • 적설은 지표 에너지수지를 결정하는 중요한 변수중의 하나이다. 위성자료를 이용하여 지면 정보를 산출함에 있어서 적설과 구름을 구분하는 것은 매우 중요한 위성전처리 과정이다. 일반적으로 잘못된 적설과 구름의 분류는 위성자료를 이용한 지면 정보 산출에 있어서 직접적인 오차 요인이 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 원격탐사 자료를 이용하여 적설 지역을 탐지하는 알고리즘에 대해서 연구하고자 한다. 적설역을 탐하지 하기 위해서, 가장 많이 사용되는 정규화 적설 지수(NDSI: Normalized Difference Snow Index)를 사용하지 않고 가시채널과 적외 채널을 이용한 방법을 제시하였다. COMS 기상영상기 (MI: Meteorological Imager) 채널에서는 정규적설 지수 산출 시 요구되는 근적외 채널을 탑재하지 않기 때문이다. 가시 채널을 이용한 적설 탐지는 구름이 혼재되어 있지 않은 지역에서는 잘 탐지하였으나 구름과 혼재되어 있는 지역에서는 어려움이 있다. 이러한 어려움을 보완하기 위해 적외채널 온도차 ($11{\mu}m\;-\;3.7{\mu}m$)를 이용하는 방법을 수행하였다. 온도차를 이용하는 방법은 가시채널만을 적용했을 때 보다는 향상된 탐지 능력을 보인다.

관측 빈도에 따른 COMS 기반의 일 평균 일사량 산출의 민감도 분석 (The Sensitivity Analysis according to Observed Frequency of Daily Composite Insolation based on COMS)

  • 일사량은 지구 내 시스템의 에너지원으로 작용하는 중요한 지표변수로써, 원격탐사를 통해 모니터링 하는 것은 태양 에너지의 잠재량을 평가할 수 있어 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한반도에서 관측 빈도에 따른 일 평균 일사량 산출의 민감도를 분석하고자 한다. COMS의 채널 자료 및 구름탐지 분석자료, 구름에 의한 일사량의 감쇠 정도를 이용하여 시간 해상도가 1시간과 3시간 간격의 자료를 이용하여 일사량을 산출하였다. 전천을 의미하는 공간적 범위만큼 Hemispherical Integration를 실시하였고, 각 일사량을 일 평균하여 지상 37곳의 일사계 자료와 검증을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 1시간 간격의 자료를 이용하여 일평균한 일사량은 $28.6401W/m^2$의 정확도를, 3시간 간격의 자료를 이용하여 일 평균한 일사량은 $30.4960W/m^2$의 정확도를 보여, 일 평균 일사량은 위성의 관측 빈도에 큰 민감도를 보이지 않았다. 하지만 시간해상도가 다른 두 일사량은 공간적 분포에서 구름의 관측 빈도에 따라 큰 차이를 보였고, 구름의 관측 빈도와 두 일사량의 차이 간 민감도 분석을 실시한 결과 최대 $19.4392W/m^2$의 민감도를 보였다.

인휠모터 구동차량의 승차감 및 자세제어를 위한 기초적 연구 (A Fundamental Study on the Control of Ride Comfort and Attitude for In-wheel Motor Vehicles)

  • It is being accelerated to develop environment-friendly vehicles to solve problems on the energy and environment of earth. The electric driving motor commonly installed in these vehicles has the excellent control capability such as fast response and accurate generation to torque control command. Especially, in-wheel motor has the additional merit such as independently driving each wheel in vehicle. Recently, being developed various control algorithm to enhance the safety and stability of vehicle motion using actively the merits of in-wheel motor. In addition to that, being issued the possibility of enhancing the ride comfort and attitude of vehicle motion such as pitching and rolling. In this paper, investigate the theoretical relationship between the braking/driving force and the motion of sprung mass of vehicle and propose the control method to enhance the ride comfort and attitude of vehicle motion. The proposed control method is proved through the simulation with vehicle model provided by TruckSim software which is commercial one and specializes in vehicle dynamics.

SPIRAL ARM MORPHOLOGY OF NEARBY GALAXIES

  • We analyze the spiral structure of 1725 nearby spiral galaxies with redshift less than 0.02. We use the color images provided by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We determine the arm classes (grand design, multiple-arm, flocculent) and the broad Hubble types (early, intermediate, late) as well as the bar types (SA, SAB, SB) by visual inspection. We find that flocculent galaxies are mostly of late Hubble type while multiple-arm galaxies are likely to be of early Hubble type. The fractional distribution of grand design galaxies is nearly constant along the Hubble type. The dependence of arm class on bar type is not as strong as that of the Hubble type. However, there is about a three times larger fraction of grand design spirals in SB galaxies than in SA galaxies, with nearly constant fractions of multiple-arm galaxies. However, if we consider the Hubble type and bar type together, grand design spirals are more frequent in early types than in late types for SA and SAB galaxies, while they are almost constant along the Hubble type for SB galaxies. There are clear correlations between spiral structures and the local background density: strongly barred, early-type, grand design spirals favor high-density regions, while non-barred, late-type, flocculent galaxies are likely to be found in low-density regions.

동중서(董仲舒)의 양(陽) 중심 사상에 대한 고찰 -"황제내경(黃帝內經)"과의 비교(比較)를 통하여- (A Study on Dongjungseo(董仲舒)'s Yin-Yang theory - Yang Central Idea -)

  • The most famous thought of Dongjungseo's must be 'the Sky-Earth Response Theory.' The theory includes the Same 'Gi' Correspondence(the Same Category Homology) and explains the relationship between the nature and the men based on Yin-Yang. This theory, commonly studied by the scholars of the political science, however, has been constituting the foundation of the oriental medicine. Also, he insists many other theories related to Yin-Yang including the natural calamity, the treatise of human nature, the name and reality, and the national school of Confucianism, etc. This paper covers the Yin-Yang theory, particularly with regard to ethics. politics, human nature of Dongjungseo, and the comparison of his Yin-Yang and that of the Emperor Inner Cannon. Dongjungseo insists on the harmony of Yin-Yang just only in the area of health care, excluding other areas such as state and family governance. However, in contrast, he asserts the Yang central idea for what he defined as the order of a family, a society and a state. This presents his contradiction and logicality. In the last part of this paper, his logical flaws would be discussed and analysed. However, he is a lucky scholar, because his Yang central idea has been successfully governing peoples for a long time, despite such imperfection and contradiction in his studies.

Statistical Analysis on Weather Conditions at Chungbuk National University Observatory in Jincheon, Korea

  • Astronomical Observations at Chungbuk National University Observatory (CBNUO) with an 1 m telescope have begun since April 2008, and Near-Earth Space Survey observations also have been started since November 2010, with a 0.6 m wide field telescope developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. To improve observational efficiency, we developed a weather monitoring system enabling automatic monitoring for the weather conditions and checking the status of the observational circumstances, such as dome status. We hope this weather monitoring system can be helpful to more than 100 Korean domestic observatories, including public outreach facilities. In this paper, we present the statistic analysis of the weather conditions collected at CBNUO for 3 years (2009- 2011) and comparisons were made for clear nights between using only humidity data and both humidity and cloud data.

Ka-Band의 집적화된 송수신 모듈 개발 (Integrated Transceiver Module development at Ka-Band)

  • 본 논문에서는 레이더에 사용할 수 있는 집적화, 소형화된 Ka-band용 송수신 모듈을 설계 및 제작하였다. 캐비티 형태의 공진기 및 MMIC의 VCO, 전력증폭기, 저잡음 증폭기, 주파수 혼합기와 직접 설계, 제작한 수동 소자들을 캐리어에 장착시키고, 이 캐리어들을 직접 송수신 모듈에 연결하여 결과적으로 출력 21dBm, 잡음지수 5dB까지의 성능을 보이면서 $50cm^*50cm^*20cm$의 소형화된 크기로 설계하였다. 개발된 FMCW 송수신 모듈을 이용하여 60m 이상 떨어져 있는 목표물을 탐지할 수 있는 비트 신호와 하늘 및 땅에 대한 특성을 분석할 수 있는 라디오미터 신호를 측정하였다. MMIC로 구성된 Ka-band의 송수신 모듈은 레이다와 라디오미터용으로 우수한 성능을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.
