  • In this paper, we propose to enhance the performance of software transcoder by using GPGPU for scaling filters. Video transcoding is a technique that translates a video file to another video file that has a different coding algorithm and/or a different frame size. Its demand increases as more multimedia devices with different specification coexist in our daily life. Since transcoding is computationally intensive, a software transcoder that runs on a CPU takes long processing time. In this paper, we achieve significant speed-up by parallelizing the scaling filter using a GPGPU that can provide significantly large computation power. Through extensive experiments with various video scripts of different size and with various scaling filter options, it is verified that the enhanced transcoder could achieve 36% performance improvement in the default option, and up to 101% in a certain option.

  • In recent times, the median filtering (MF) detector as a forensic tool for the recovery of forgery images' processing history has concerned broad interest. For the classification of MF image, MF detector should be designed with smaller feature set and higher detection ratio. This paper presents a novel method for the detection of MF in altered images. It is transformed from BMP to several kinds of MF image by the median window size. The difference distribution values are computed according to the window sizes and then the values construct the feature set same as the MF window size. For the MF detector, the feature set transformed to the model specification which is computed using latent growth modeling (LGM). Through experiments, the test image is classified by the discriminant into two classes: the true positive (TP) and the false negative (FN). It confirms that the proposed algorithm is to be outstanding performance when the minimum distance average is 0.119 in the confusion of TP and FN for the effectivity of classification.

  • With increasing use of a personal mobile computer. the Mobile IPv6 is one of the main protocols that support mobility and complies with IPv6 specification. Similar to the mobile IPv6, the mobile IPv6 also has limitations on fast moving condition. The Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 is a solution that overcomes these limitations. The Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 is a micro mobility protocol that supports fast mobile IP handover and reduces signaling overhead with Mobility Anchor Point(MAP). But until now no paging method is applied to the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 to reduce unnecessary signaling overhead and power consumption of mobile nodes. So, the paging mechanism for the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 is proposed in this paper. the mechanism is implemented by making use of the destination option header and extension function and the last location algorithm. The results show that the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 with the paging ability reduces the traffic of mobile networks by removing unnecessary binding update packet generated whenever handover takes place. Also, the larger the paging size is. the less the number of BU(Binding Update) massage generated.

  • When the PCI 2.2 bus master requests data using Memory Read command, the target device my hold PCI bus without data transfer for a long time because the target device requires time to prefetch data internally. Because the PCI bus usage efficiency and the data transfer efficiency are decreased due to this situation, the PCI specification recommends to use the Delayed Transaction mechanism to improve the performance. But the mechanism doesn't fully improve performance because the target device doesn't blow prefetch data size exactly. In this paper, we propose a new method to transfer data efficiently when the bus master reads data from the target device. The bus master informs the target device the exact read data size using prefetch request using Memory Write command. The simulation result shows that the proposed method has the higher data transfer efficiency than the Delayed Transaction about 10%.

  • The characteristics of dry and wet milled powder prepared by 1 cycle OREOX (oxidation and reduction of oxide fuels) treatment were investigated using the simulated spent fuel pellet. Sintered pellets simulating spent nuclear fuel burned in reactor were fabricated from $UO_2$ powder using as a starting material in fabrication of nuclear fuel. The 1 cycle OREOX-treated powder was prepared by only one path of oxidation md reduction of the simulated pellet. Powder having average particle size of less than 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ could be easily obtained by dry milling, but not be achieved by wet milling. And, specific surface area of dry milled pow-der was higher than that of wet milled powder. Dry milled powder formed loose agglomerate, while wet milled powder showed the shape of irregular and angular particles. Dry milled powder provided higher green density, resulting in higher sintered density of higher than 95% TD and average grain size of larger than 8 $\mu\textrm{m}$ satisfying the standard specification of sintered pellets.

  • This paper proposed software equation that is relation with effort and duration based on function point (FP) software size. Existent software equation based on lines of code (LOC). LOC sees big difference according to development language and there are a lot of difficulties in software size estimation. First, considered method that change LOC to FP. But, this method is not decided definitely conversion ratio between LOC and FP by development language. Also, failed though the conversion ratio motives software formula because was not presented about specification development language. Therefore, we derived software formula directly to large project data that was developed by FP. Firstly, datas that reasonable development period is set among development projects. Secondly, FP through regression analysis about this data and effort, motived relation with FP and duration. Finally, software equation was derived from these relation. Proposed model solves application problems that LOC-based model has and has advantage that application is possible easily in business.

  • In this paper, a X-band 50 W pulsed solid state power amplifier(SSPA) is designed and fabricated for radar systems. The SSPA consists of a driver amplifier, a high power amplifier, and a pulse modulator. The high power stage employes four 25 W GaAs FET to deliver 50 W at X-band. To meet the stringent target specification for the SSPA, we used a new hybrid pulse switching method, which combine the advantage of pulse modulation and bias switching method. The fabricated SSPA shows a power gain of 44.2 dB, an output power of 50 W over a 1.12 GHz bandwidth. Also, pulse droop < 1 dB meet the design goals and a rise/fall time is less than 12.45 ns. Fabricated X-band pulsed SSPA size is compact with overall size of $150{\times}105{\times}30\;mm^3$.

  • For real-time monitoring of colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) in aqueous media, a light sheet type dark-field microscopy system combined with a microfluidic concentration gradient generator (${\mu}FCGG$-LSDFM) was developed. Various concentrations of colloidal Au NPs were simultaneously generated with the iFCGG and characterized with the LSDFM setup. The number concentrations and hydrodynamic size distributions were measured via particle counting and tracking analysis (PCA and PTA, respectively) approaches. For the 30 nm Au NPs used in this study, the lower detection limit of the LSDFM setup was 3.6 ng/mL, which is about 400 times better than that of optical density measurements under the same ${\mu}FCGG$ system. Additionally, the hydrodynamic diameter distribution of Au NPs was estimated as $39.7{\pm}12.2nm$ with the PTA approach, which agrees well with DLS measurement as well as the manufacturer's specification. We propose this ${\mu}FCGG$-LSDFM setup with features of automatic generation of NP concentration gradient and real-time monitoring of their physicochemical characteristics (e.g., number concentration, and hydrodynamic size distribution) as an important component of future high-throughput screening or high-content analysis platforms of nanotoxicity.

  • The most commonly used 3D modeling file formats are OBJ (Wavefront file format specification) and STL (STereoLithography). Although they have a common point of view in 3D on the screen, detailed functions are different according to purpose of development. OBJ is the most commonly used 3D file format and STL is mainly used as 3D file format for 3D printing. However, in the field of Scientific Visualization, precise analysis is required. There is a difference in accuracy depending on the type of 3D file format. OBJ and STL are not suitable for delicate surface description because they form meshes in the form of triangular polygons. And if you increase the number of triangle polygons, it will be smoother, but the file size also increases exponentially and causes excessive CPU usage. In contrast, VTK provides a variety of polygon structures, including triangular polygons as well as rectangular polygons and cube polygons. Thus, delicate surface depiction is possible. Delicate surface rendering is possible and file size is not large. This paper describes the concept and structure of VTK. We also compared the load times and file sizes between VTK, STL, and OBJ in the Chrome browser. In addition, the difference in surface rendering ability between VTK, STL, and OBJ is intuitively viewed based on the screen in which each 3D file format is implemented under the same conditions. This study is expected to be helpful for efficient 3D file format for precise implementation of Web - based Scientific Visualization.
