This study investigated the influence of audience type (mother or close friend) age, and gender on children's goals and strategies for emotional regulation in angry and in sad situations. Hypothetical vignette methodology was used with 314 children in grades 5 and 7. In angry situations, all boys and all 5th grade children regulated anger more with instrumental motives while 7th grade girls showed more prosocial motives. Children showed more prosocial and rule oriented motives with peers and relational motives with mothers. In angry situations, children used aggression regulation strategies more toward peers and activity regulation strategies more toward mothers. Children's age and sex explained sadness regulation motives better than audience type with peers, but children used more activity regulation strategies with mothers in sad situations. When sad, fifth graders used more verbal and facial expression strategies than 7th graders while boys used more activity regulation strategies than girls.
This study examined whether preschool children's meta-socialization (conceptions of social situations) and their responses differed by children's social competence. Participants were 74 kindergarten children living in Seoul, Korea. Results showed differences in children's conceptions of social-conventional and personal situations by social competence and differences in children's responses to moral situations by social competence. Children with higher social competence had a tendency to negative social-conventional violations and they showed a general acceptance in personal choices, whereas children with lower social competence made frequent responses of 'retaliatory' and 'involve adults' in moral situations.
The purpose of this study is to compare the differences of clothing behavior by the level of self-monitoring under given social situations. The result of this study is drown from the analysis of the survey, gathered from the 522 female students of universities reside in Seoul, by using the method of convenience sampling. The statistical methods used to test the data were MANOVA and chi-square test. The results of this study can be summarized s follows; first, as a result of analyzing the differences of situational self-image pursuits among situations depending individual's self-monitoring levels, it was found that the pursuits changes among situations regardless of the self-monitoring levels. Thus, this hypothesis could not be verified. Second, as a result of analyzing the changes of priority of clothing selection factors among situations depending on individual's self-monitoring levels, it was found that the priority factors changed among situations regardless of the self-monitoring levels.
Crime has become one of the major problems in modern society. Even though visual surveillances through closed-circuit television (CCTV) is extensively used for solving crime, the number of crimes has not decreased. This is because there is insufficient workforce for performing 24-hour surveillance. In addition, CCTV surveillance by humans is not efficient for detecting dangerous situations owing to accuracy issues. In this paper, we propose the autonomous detection of dangerous situations in CCTV scenes using a deep learning model with relational inference. The main feature of the proposed method is that it can simultaneously perform object detection and relational inference to determine the danger of the situations captured by CCTV. This enables us to efficiently classify dangerous situations by inferring the relationship between detected objects (i.e., distance and position). Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing methods in terms of the accuracy of image classification and the false alarm rate even when object detection accuracy is low.

This research examined how pilots perceive risks when faced with emergency flight situations. We had 116 commercial airline pilots evaluate riskiness of 39 non-routine flight situations. The pilots' risk perception was analyzed as a function of their position (captain vs. first officer), expertise (expert vs. novice), and military flight experience (with vs. without military experience). Results showed that captains evaluated potential-risk situations and low-risk situations more dangerous than first officers. However, there were no differences between experts and novices, and between pilots having military flight experience and pilots not having military flight experience in risk perception. The analysis of multi-dimensional scaling revealed that the pilots used controllability as a key dimension for evaluating riskiness, though the other dimensions they used varied with their position, expertise, and military flight experience.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was investigate the empowerment, health behavior and life satisfaction in elderly home residents according to living situations. Method: Data were collected from September to October, 2005. The participants were 240 elderly people who lived at home. Date were collected using structured questionnaire and analysed using t-test, ANOVA, Sheffe test. Result: Empowerment in elderly home residents according to living situations was significantly different(F=3.35, p=.006). Health behavior in elderly home residents according to living situations was not different significantly(F=.88, p=.492). However, questionnaire of "only the elderly couple lives" showed the highest health behavior score as an average 3.05$({\pm}.24)$. Life satisfaction in elderly home residents according to living situations was not different significantly(F=1.67, p=.143). There was a positive correlation between empowerment, health behaviors and life satisfaction. Conclusion: Considering that the single home which only the elderly people reside is the one of general family patterns of the aged people, the elderly people shall acknowledge the difference of values between a family pattern which takes a serious view of family or sons/daughters and a family pattern which reflects a weak supporting consciousness by a nuclear family. Based on above facts, Nurses should develope the nursing strategies to promote life satisfaction in the elderly.
Mathematics is means for making sense of one's experiential world and products of human activities. A usefulness of mathematics is derived from this features of mathematics. Keeping the meaning of situations during the mathematizing of situations. However, theories about the development of mathematical concepts have turned mainly to an understanding of invariants. The purpose of this study is to show the possibility of computer in representing situation and phenomena. First, we consider situated cognition theory for looking for the relation between various representation and situation in problem. The mathematical concepts or model involves situations, invariants, representations. Thus, we should involve the meaning of situations and translations among various representations in the process of mathematization. Second, we show how the process of computational mathematization can serve as window on relating situations and representations, among various representations. When using computer software such as ALGEBRA ANIMATION in mathematics classrooms, we identified two benifits First, computer software can reduce the cognitive burden for understanding the translation among various mathematical representations. Further, computer softwares is able to connect mathematical representations and concepts to directly situations or phenomena. We propose the case study for the effect of computer software on practical mathematics classrooms.
Background: This study aims to introduce the formulation of the regulation for the selection of respirators for accident preparedness chemicals (APCs) according to chemical workplace situations and to determine on-site applicability. Methods: Workplaces were grouped into seven work categories, and APCs were classified into six groups to select adequate respirators. A survey was conducted to enhance the understanding of work situations and adequate respirators. The total number of subjects surveyed in 2018 was 201 managers and handlers, and that in 2019 was 91 handlers and 204 managers. Results: Adequate respirators were allocated to each cell using the matrix method. The study observed an overall lack of understanding of work situations, especially in the operation of open devices, which was the highest at 32.7%. Despite its implementation in 2015, 17.6% and 25.0% of the managers and APCs handlers, respectively, were unaware of the regulations for selecting respirators. Only 70.4% of the APCs handler wore respirators in compliance with regulations. Conclusion: The method for selecting respirators according to work situations using the matrix method is considered reasonable. Thus, this study suggests that the development of educational contents and reinforcing education should be essential steps to increasing awareness of regulations.
The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the students' strategy types and the recognition for proportional situations. The students' strategy types which were based on the results of ratio and proportion tests were divided into an additive type, a multiplicative type, and a formal type. This research analyzed the students' activities of categorization when were given the proportional problems and nonproportional problems to the students. And it also explored how to develop students' recognizing for the discrimination between the proportional situations and nonproportional situations. The results was the following. First, the students didn't discriminate the proportional situations and the nonproportional situations in the initial state but they came to discriminate little by little. Secondly, the students didn't discriminate the direct proportions and the inverse proportions until the last stage. Third, the multiplicative type was outperformed more than the formal type in solving the ratio and proportion problems but the formal type was outperformed more than the multiplicative type in discriminating between proportional situations and nonproportional situations. These results are interpreted as showing that solving ratio and proportion tasks and recognizing proportional situations are different aspects of proportional reasoning and it is necessary to understand multiplicative strategy with formal strategy in recognizing proportional situations.

The purpose of this study was to identify elementary school students' alternative conceptual types of the movement of the moon and to find out how these types change when confronted with cognitive conflict situations. To find out alternative conceptual types, 206 sixth graders were sampled, and to investigate how the alternative conceptual types were changed by cognitive conflict situations, and 30 students were systematically resampled by alternative conceptual types. Data were collected through the pre- and post-test instruments, including five items that were used for testing the students' alternative conceptual types and changes after conflict situations. After the pre-test, students were instructed to determine the change of the alternative preconceptions using conflict situations. We found that a majority of students had various kinds of alternative preconceptions formed from their early years of elementary school. The cognitive conflict situations were effective for the conceptual change of the movement of the moon. Specifically, in all groups, the subjects' understanding of "the movement of the early evening crescent moon" changed scientifically.
