Long-Term Biodiversity Research Programme for Mindanao, Philippines

  • The Long-Term Biodiversity Research Programme (LTBRP) for Mindanao is envisioned to be a collaborative programme of the Philippines. It will be a programmatic research on biodiversity - its status, threats. and conservation and management. The chosen research site is Mt. Malindang in Misamis Occidental of Mindanao. The BRP will support a set of research projects that will generate knowledge on biological and ecological, socio-economic. cultural and policy aspects of biodiversity conservation. It will also enable researchers to develop and try new methods for research on these aspects, separately or crossing boundaries of academic disciplines. Moreover. the BRP will implement support programmes which will provide the linkages of research activities to development issues and needs in the research site. The support programmes will also draw from the research projects, the knowledge that can be lent or immediately available to policy and programme formulation. The support programmes will comprise: human resource development or capability-building; information, education and communication; database; networking; community organizing: and development action. The BRP will be undertaken by a group of academie and research institutions from the Philippines, in partnership with their respective government entities and local government units in Mindanao. The Biodiversity Research Programme (BRP) will comprise a set of research projects to be undertaken by small research teams in the site. Researchable areas have been identified initially through the National Biodiversity Research Agenda. and later enriched in the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) Analysis workshops by the Mindanao researchers and Philippine resource persons. Results of the PRA are presented in the paper.

플랜트 건설현장의 작업반장 역할개선을 통한 위험율 저감방안 연구 (A study on hazard rate decrease plan in plant construction site by improving foreman's role)

  • Domestic plant construction sites have a tendency to become bigger, more various and complicated. Moreover frequency of industrial incident is increasing due to short project period, coexistence work condition and using heavy construction equipment. Installing safety facilities and safety training contribute to prevent incident. But mostly incident happens due to workers' unsafe action and wrong work method. Technically, it is very difficult for us to closely manage workers preventing incident. Therefore, the role of foreman who ordinarily works together with his workers is considered more important. Specific execution plan was drawn through industrial incident statistics from Ministry of Labor and questionnaire survey to interest parties(supervisor, safety staff and foreman). If foreman has raised sense of belonging and responsibility by conducting practical safety training for his workers, manages job site and receives proper compensation for these roles, it will be expected that it fully influences incident decrease.

Calculation and field measurement of earth pressure in shield tunnels under the action of composite foundation

  • Taking a subway shield tunnel in a certain section of Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 as an example, the field tests of shield cutting cement-soil monopile composite foundation were carried out. The load and internal force of the tunnel lining under the action of composite foundation were tested on-site and the distribution characteristics and variation laws of earth pressure around the tunnel under the load holding state of the composite foundation were analyzed. Five different load combinations (i.e., overburden load theory + q0, Terzaghi's theory + q0, Bierbaumer's theory + q0, Xie's theory + q0, and the proposed method (the combination of compound weight method and Terzaghi's theory) + q0) were used to calculate the internal force of the tunnel structure and the obtained results were compared with the measured internal force results. The action mode of earth pressure on the tunnel lining structure was evaluated. Research results show that the earth pressure obtained by the calculation method proposed in this paper was more consistent with the measured value and the deviation between the two was within 5%. The distribution of the calculated internal force of the tunnel structure was more in line with the distribution law of field test data and the deviation between the calculated and measured values was small. This effectively verified the rationality and applicability of the proposed calculation method. Research results provided references for the design and evaluation of shield tunnels under the action of composite foundations.

Lactebacillus sp. GM7311이 생산하는 박테리오신의 Gram 음성균에 대한 작용형태 (Mode of Action of the Bacteriocan from Lactobacillus sp. GM7311 against Gram Negative Bacteria)

  • Lactobacillus sp. GM7311이 생산하는 박테리오신의 작용 특성을 알아보기 위하여, 배양이 진행 중인 세 가지 시험균주의 TSB 배양액에 일정한 시간 간격별로 최종 농도 100 BU/ml가 되도록 박테리오신을 첨가한 후 그 균수 변화와 작용 특성을 살펴보았다. 시험 균주의 증식 시기별로 박테리오신을 첨가한 경우 Proteus mirabilis의 경우는 대수증식기 중기 이전까지의 지시균에 대해서 강한 억제작용을 보이는 반면, Vibrio parahaernolricus와 Escherichia coli는 첨가 시기 모두에서 급격한 균수 감소를 보였으며 다만 정지기에 있어서는 저해 효과가 적었다. 또한 박테리오신을 처리한 세 가지 시험 균주를 전자현미경으로 관찰했을 때, Lactobacillus sp. GM7311이 생산하는 박테리오신은 시험 균주의 세포벽 파괴와 함께 세포 내용물을 유출시키는 bacteriolytic action 형태를 보였다. 증식 시기별로 박테리오신을 첨가하여 각 균주별로 가장 큰 영향을 받은 증식시기를 선택해서 박테리오신을 처리한 후, 아미노산 및 지방산 조성을 분석하여 박테리오신을 처리하지 않은 대조구와 비교하였다. 이 실험에서 아미노산의 경우는 세 균주 모두에서 대부분의 성분이 크게 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 지방산은 크게 감소하는 성분은 없었지만 각 성분들의 함량이 대체적으로 증가하거나 감소하는 변화를 나타내었다.

매입형 합성보의 전단합성거동에 대한 비교분석 (Analysis of the Load Carrying Behavior of Shear Connection at the Interface of Encased Composite Beams)

  • 본 연구에서는 매입형 합성보에서 전체 보의 휨거동 및 합성면에서의 상대변위(Slip) 등을 분석함으로써 화학적 부착, 부착파괴 후 기계적 맞물림 및 마찰작용, 전단 스터드가 합성보 전체의 강도 및 강성과 합성단면에서의 전단합성거동에 기여하는 정도를 해석해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 U자형 성형강판을 이용한 합성보 및 CT형강 용접방식 강판성형 합성보에 대해 구조성능 실험과 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 실험 및 해석결과에 의하면, 전단 스터드의 설치 유무에 따라 매입형 합성보의 극한 모멘트성능 차이는 약 10% 미만을 나타내었다. 이것은 강재 보의 단면형상으로 인한 화학적 및 기계적 부착력이 크기 때문에 이에 의한 합성작용으로도 일정 이상의 모멘트성능 발휘가 가능하여 완전합성상태에 해당하는 소성 모멘트내력과의 차이가 비교적 크지 않으며, 합성율이 증가하는 것에 비해 휨모멘트 내력은 완만하게 증가하기 때문으로 나타났다.

학습활동 중심의 컴포넌트 기반 u-러닝 허브 사이트 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of u-Learning Hub Site based on Learning Activity Oriented Components)

  • 본 논문에서는 학습활동 중심의 컴포넌트를 기반으로 설계 구현한 u-러닝 허브사이트 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 u-러닝 환경에서 다양한 단말기를 통하여 교육활동이 이루어 질수 있도록 u-러닝 허브사이트의 기능을 컴포넌트 단위로 세분화 하며, 각 컴포넌트는 클래스들의 상속과 조합을 통하여 실시간으로 허브 사이트의 기능을 구성한다. 즉 접속하는 단말기와 프로그램의 특성을 파악하여 기본이 되는 부모 클래스를 바탕으로 자식 클래스를 추가하거나 조합하여 하나의 컴포넌트를 동적으로 구성하게 된다. 이러한 방식을 통해, 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템은 다양한 단말기를 지원 할 수 없는 기존의 e-러닝 시스템과 달리 동일한 시스템 하에서 시간, 장소, 단말기와 프로그램에 구애받지 않고 교육활동 서비스를 이용할 수 있는 유비쿼터스 러닝 환경을 제공한다.

교정력에 의한 치조골의 cyclic AMP에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON CYCLIC AMP IN ALVEOLAR BONE TREATED BY ORTHODONTIC FORCES)

  • Tooth movement by orthodontic force is based upon alveolar bone resorption at compression site and bone formation at tension site of tooth. The function of cyclic AMP is to participate not only in initial action of bone cells by mechanical forces but also in the continuous cellular response leading to bone remodeling. This experiment was performed to clarify the role of cyclic AMP in bone remodeling by mechanical forces. The orthodontic forces of about 80 gm and 100 gm were applied to the right canines of maxillary and mandibular bone, respectively, in cats, treated for periods of time ranging from one hour to 28 days. Alveolar bones were obtained from compression and tension sites surrounding tipping maxillary and mandibular canines as well as from contralateral control sites. The samples were extracted, boiled and homogenized, and the supernatants were assayed for cyclic AMP by a radioimmunoassay method. The results were as follows: 1. The orthodontic movement of canines was increased to the end of experimental period and the action of orthodontic forces on tooth movement was more effective in maxillary canine. 2. The cyclic AMP levels of alveolar bones in compression and tension sites initially decreased, then increased and remained elevated to the end of experiment. The differences of the cyclic AMP levels between treated sites and non-treated sites were gradually increased. 3. The cyclic AMP levels in treated sites of mandibular alveolar bone was higher than that of maxillary alveolar bone.

가토(家兎)의 신장기능(腎臟機能)에 미치는 측뇌실내(側腦室內) Prostaglandin $F_{2{\alpha}}$의 영향(影響) (Influence of Prostaglandin $F_{2{\alpha}}$ given intracerebroventricularly on the renal function of the rabbits)

  • The facts that $PGE_2$ produced diuresis in the rabbit when given into a lateral ventricle of the brain and that $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ is abundantly found in the brain prompted us to investigate the effects of $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ introduced directly into the ventricle on the renal function. $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ given intraventriculary in doses of $10{\mu}g\;and\;100{\mu}g$ elicited prompt diuresis, 10-fold increase of sodium excretion and two-fold increment of potassium excretion. Free water reabsorption also increased along with the increased osmolar clearance. Neither renal plasma flow nor glomerular filtration rate did change significantly. This, along with the fact that the percentage of reabsorbed sodium filtered decreased from 99.5 to 93.9, indicates the tubular site of the diuretic and natriuretic action. Atropine pretreatment did not influence the renal effects of intraventricular $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$. Intravenously administered $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ in doses of 30 to $100{\mu}g$ did not produce any significant change in renal function. Intraventricular $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ had no effect on the systemic blood pressure, whereas intravenous administration brought about a transient hypotension. These observations suggest that $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ induces diuresis and natriuresis via central mechanism, that the site of the action resides in renal tubules, and that the reabsorption of sodium is inhibited in the proximal tubule, possibly through mediation of certain humoral agent. Overall, it is suggested that $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ might play a roll in regulating renal function through the center.

해명 회장 운동에 대한 아드레나린성 ${\alpha}$-수용체에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Adrenergic Alpha-Receptor in the Guinea Pig Ileum)

  • Intestine is innervated by an interconnected plexus of both sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. Sympathetic influence causes inhibition of intestinal motility mediated by both ${\alpha}-\;and\;{\beta}-adrenergic$ receptors. The mechanism of intestinal relaxation by ${\beta}-receptors$ has been extensively studied, but the function of ${\alpha}-receptors$ in intestinal motility is still unclear. Although it is suggested that catecholamine reduces acetylcholine release and this may play an important role in ${\alpha}-receptor$ mediated intestinal relaxation, there is no definite evidences about the mechanism and site of action of ${\alpha}-receptor$ mediated relaxation. In this experiment, therefore, the effect and site of action of ${\alpha}-receptor$ agonists were investigated in the guinea pig ileum using electrical field stimulation. The results are summarized as follows : 1) Electrical field stimulation elicited tonic contraction in isolated guinea pig ileum ana this contraction was completely inhibited by the pretreatment of tetrodotoxin or atropine. 2) Norepinephrine, epinephrine and dopamine inhibited the contraction induced by electrical field stimulation but methoxamine and phenylephrine had little effects. 3) Inhibitory effects of norepinephrine and dopamine was partially blocked by yohimbine and phentolamine pretreatment. But haloperidol and propranolol pretreatment cause no effects on the electrical field stimulation induced contraction. Inhibitory effect of dopamine was completely blocked by both haloperidol and yohimbine pretreatment. 4) Inhibitory effects of norepinephrine and dopamine were little affected by the pretreatment with hexamethonium. It is suggested that electrical field stimulation causes tonic contraction of guinea pig ileum by releasing acetylcholine from postganglionic fiber, and this release is blocked by presynaptic ${\alpha}-receptor$ activation.

Trichoderma koningii ATCC 26113에서 분리된 xylanase II의 작용양상과 활성부위 (Mode of action anf active site of xylanase II from Trichoderma koningii ATCC 26113)

  • Xylan과 관련 다당류 (xylotriose, xylotetraose, arabinoxylotriose)에 대한 Trichoderma koningii ATCC 26113에서 분리된 xylanase II의 작용양상은 xylanase II가 endo-enzyme이고 transxylosidation의 활성을 가지고 있다고 보여진다. Xylanase II에 의해 형성된 반응산물을 $^1HNMR$ 분광법으로 분석한 결과는 본 효소에 의해 얻어진 xylooligosaccharides의 가수분해산물은 모두가 ${\beta}$-1,4-xylosidic linkage만을 가지고 있는 것으로 판명되었다. 본 효소를 iodoacetamide로 화학적으로 변형시켰을 때 효소 mole당 cysteine 잔기가 두 개가 활성에 필요한 것으로 보여졌으며, N-bromosuccinimide 로 처리하였을 때는 활성부위에 tryptophan 잔기가 여덟 개 존재하는 것으로 판명되었다.
