  • Switched reluctance motors have received much attention as a driving means for various industrial applications because they have simple construction, low cost and high efficiency. Nevertheless, the requirements of drive converters make it difficult to lower the overall system cost as compared with the DC motor application. Single phase switched reluctance motors (SPSRMs) provide a solution to the high cost problem since the number of switching power devices can be reduced and consequently the trials for application are increased. However, research involving SPSRMs, especially in the area of design work, is insufficient. This paper introduces a novel design methodology of single phase SRM. The design work for SPSRM comprises the determination of many variables such as stator and rotor pole arc as well as on, off and so on. Managing all variable combinations leads to lengthy computation time and a fault in the design process. For that reason, a reliable technique and brief procedure term are required in SPSRM design.

  • Single phase SRM(switched reluctance motor) can not be start by itself because positive torque is generated in limited section. Therefore single phase SRM need starting device which is place the rotor in positive torque section when motor is begun to start. The prototype of salient pole rotor type single phase SRM, fabricated in previous research, has permanent magnet starting device. It is installed in bottom of the rotor for starting by itself. But, it is affected the motor when driving and cause the decrease of torque and speed. On this paper, average torque of the prototype was measured according to installation of the starting device or not. And influence of the staring device on average torque was confirmed by comparison of the results.

  • The salient pole rotor type single phase SRM (switched reluctance motor) uses radial and axial direction magnetic flux simultaneously. Therefore, the output power per unit volume is very high and the shaft length is shorter than other types of SRMs with the same output. Furthermore, it can be manufactured with low cost owing to its simple structure and driving circuit. The prototype was designed using the theory of the traditional rotating machine and 3D FEM analysis. On this paper, the experiment apparatus, which includes the fabricated prototype in previous researches, was fabricated to measure the current and voltage of the prototype. Then the flux linkage, inductance and magnetic co-energy were calculated using the experimental results. Finally, the measured magnetic co-energy was compared with the simulated magnetic co-energy.

  • A multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method is proposed for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling fiequency of system output by a lifting factor $R=T_c/T_s$ The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system The multirate estimator gain can be obtained by solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. We applied the proposed multirate state feedback controller to a galvanometer servo system Simulation and experimental results show that settling and tracking performances are improved compared with a conventional single-rate pole placement control (PPC).

  • In this paper, a simple digital control scheme for the single/parallel module buck converters is proposed using a digital state feedback control method. The discrete state feedback controller structure for the robust tracking control is derived by using the error state. The proposed control system can precisely achieve the interleaved current sharing and the output regulation, and can achieve the systematical controller design for a given converter specification using the pole placement technique. For a design example, the single module buck converter is simulated using the MATLAB Simulink software and two 100W parallel module buck converters with a TMS320F2812 DSP is implemented.

  • This paper presents a multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using the current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling frequency of system output by a lifting factor R=T$\sub$c//T$\sub$s/. The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system. The multirate estimator gain is obtained from solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control.

  • This paper deals with the problem of robust pole-assignment control for linear systems with structured uncertainty. It considers two cases whose colsed-loop characteristic equations are presented as a family of interval polynomial and polytopic polynomial family respectively. We propose a method of finding the pole-placement region in which the fixed gain controller guarantees the required damping ratio and stability margin despite parameter perturbation. Some results of Kharitonov like stability and two kinds of transformations are included. As an illustrative example, we show that the proposed method can apply effectivly to the single magnet levitation system including some uncertainties (mass, inductance etc.).

  • Oyster fanning structures in tidal flats are well detected by SAR system. Each frame of these artificial structures is composed of two vertical and one horizontal wooden pole. We investigate characteristics of polarimetric features in the target structures. In this paper, the results of AIRSAR L-band POLSAR data and experiments in laboratory are discussed. The ratio of single bounce to double bounce scattering depends of vertical pole height, direction of horizontal pole to radar look direction, and incidence angle as well as sea surface condition. We have conducted laboratory experiments. According to target scale, Ku-band and targets downsized by scale of 10 are used. The results of the experiments are summarized as: i) total power of the backscattering is more affected by vertical poles than a horizontal pole; ii) and backscattering from a horizontal pole is sensitive to the relative radar look direction to target array. We conclude that water level can be effectively measured by using interferometric phase and backscattering intensity if vertical poles in the water are observed by L-band HH- or VV-polarization. Measurement of tide height can be further improved if double bounced components are separated from fully polarized SAR data.

  • The pipe framed and arch shape plastic greenhouse, which is the most popular greenhouse in Korea, is relatively weak in snowdrift. Reinforcement of rigid frame or column is required to reduce the damage from heavy snow in this type. But additional rigid frames or columns decrease light transmissivity or workability, and increase construction cost. So it is desirable to prepare some temporary poles and to install them when the warning of heavy snow is announced. This study was carried out to develop the temporary pole supporting system using galvanized steel pipes for plastic housing and to evaluate the safe snow load on a temporary pole. A pipe connector, which is inserted in the top of pipe used in the temporary pole and supports the center purline, was designed and manufactured to be able to carry the upper loads safely. And a bearing plate was safely designed and manufactured in order to carry the loads acting on it to the ground. When temporary poles of ${\phi}$ 25 pipe are installed at 2.4m interval, it shows that the single span plastic greenhouses with 5~7 m width are able to support the additional snow depth of 13.9~25.3 cm beyond the snow load supported by main frame.
