  • Practical implementation of the SFQ technology in most application requires more than single-chip-level circuit complexity. Multiple chips have to be integrated with a technology that is reliable at cryogenic temperatures and supports an inter-chip data transmission speed of tens of GHz. In this work, we have studied two basic issues in building large RSFQ circuits. The first is the reliable inter-chip SFQ pulse transfer technique using Multi-Chip-Module (MCM) technology. By noting that the energy contained in an SFQ pulse is less than an attojoule, it is not very surprising that the direct transmission of a single SFQ pulse through MCM solder bump connectors can be difficult and an innovative technique is needed. The second is the recycling of the bias currents. Since RSFQ circuits are dc current biased the large RSFQ circuits need serial biasing to reduce the total amount of current input to the circuit.

  • Free electron lasers (FEL) have, at least, the following advantages in comparison to conventional lasers: FEL can be designed for any arbitrary given emission wavelength. It is continuously tunable within wide band. Easy to get single-mode emission. Easily controlled emission structure (pulse duration, repetition rate, and pulse energy). (omitted)

  • We generate short optical pulses of ∼ 6 picoseconds at 10 GHz by chirped pulse compression based on phase modulation and chirp compensation. In the suggested method, sinusoidally driven intensity and phase modulators generate chirped pulses which are subsequently suppressed by chirp compensation using a single mode fiber.

  • These days, as dynamic function and special properties to compare traditional material, $Al_20_3$ ceramic use all over the industry. But it is very difficult to process because of high hardness and brittleness. Therefore, in this paper, it was investigated that laser process parameter which can produce appropriate quality of $Al_20_3$ ceramic microhole machining.

  • We have proposed and experimentally verified a pulse-width modulation (PWM) generator which directly generated a PWM signal in the optical domain. Output waveforms were clear at the repetition rate of 16 MHz; the duty cycle (DC) was from 14.7% to 72.1%; and the DC-control resolution was about 4.399%/dB. The PWM generator' operation principle is based on the injection-locking property of a single-mode Fabry-$P{\acute{e}}rot$ laser diode (SMFP-LD). The SMFP-LD, which has a self-locked mode wavelength at ${\lambda}_{PWM}$, was used to detect the power of the injection-locking signal (optical analog input). If the analog input power is high, the SMFP-LD is locked to the wavelength of the input signal ${\lambda}_a$ and there is no output after an optical bandpass filter (OBF). If the analog input power is low, the SMFP-LD is unlocked and there is output signal at ${\lambda}_{PWM}$ after the OBF. Thus, the SMFP-LD plus the OBF provide digital output for an analog input. The DC of the output PWM signal can be controlled by tuning the power of the analog input.

  • Wastewater from crude oil reserve base usually contains large amount of non-biodegradable contaminants. The conventional wastewater treatment progress can hardly meet the regulation of wastewater effluent quality. This study investigated the removal of non-biodegradable organic contaminants in wastewater from crude oil reserve base using a pulse UV treatment. The modified process incorporating pulse UV process was set up to treat the wastewater from crude oil reserve base. The treatment process is composed with coagulation and flocculation, micro-bubble flotation, sand filter, pulse UV system, and GAC filter. The results show CODMn was effectively removed by the process with pulse UV system and it can meet the wastewater effluent regulation. The single effect of pulse UV process in CODMn removal was not significant(9~15% based on sand filtered effluent), however with the subsequent activated carbon filter the removal ratio CODMn was increased up to 28% compared to the process without pulse UV syetem.

  • Double-side linear pulse motor(DSLPM) has more advantages than single-side linear pulse motor because noise and vibration can be considerably decreased by countervailing the normal forces, which is generated between two stators and mover. However, DSLPM has more complicated magnetic flux path and layout of stator pole toot/mover tooth rather than single-side linear pulse motor In this paper, DSLPM is designed and fabricated by considering the air gap magnetic density, shape of tooth and slot. In order to verify the characteristics of DSLPM, the air gap magnetic flux density is analyzed by 2D FEM and the magnetic flux path is analyzed by 3D FEM. Also the static thrust forces is obtained with the analyzed results.

  • In this paper, a real time implementation of selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) using Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA), Particle Swarm Optimization technique (PSO) and a new technique known as Linearization Method (LM) for Single Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC) is designed and discussed. In the proposed technique, the switching frequency is fixed and the optimum switching angles are obtained using simple mathematical calculations. A MATLAB simulation was carried out, and FFT analysis of the simulated output voltage waveform confirms the effectiveness of the proposed method. An experimental setup was also developed, and the switching angles and firing pulses are generated using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) processor. The proposed method proves that it is much applicable in the industrial applications by virtue of its suitability in real time applications.
