  • In this paper, a new fault detection and isolation algorithm fur inertial sensor system is proposed. To identify the inertial sensor fault, single antenna GPS receiver is used as an effective redundancy source. To use GPS receiver as redundancy for the inertial sensors, the algorithm to estimate the attitude and acceleration using single antenna GPS receiver is adopted. By using Doppler shift of carrier phase signal and kinetic characteristics of aircraft, attitude information of aircraft can be obtained at the coordinated flight condition. Based on this idea, fault diagnosis algorithm for inertial sensors using single antenna GPS based attitude is proposed. For more effective FDI, decision variables considering the aircraft maneuver are proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the numerical simulations.

  • Recently, the dual-polarized antenna array has drawn attention due to the dependency of its signal processing gain on the signal polarization. Even though this polarization dependency makes it possible to mitigate a non-right-hand circularly polarized (non-RHCP) jamming signal from the same direction as a GPS signal, the dual-polarized antennas are not yet widely used for various applications. This study suggests a method that can acquire the polarization dependency of the signal-processing gain by intentionally misaligning antenna elements in a single-polarized antenna array. The simulation results show that the proposed method can successfully mitigate a non-RHCP jammer from the same direction as a GPS signal as if a dual-polarized antenna array does and provide comparable signal-to-jammer-plus-noise ratio (SJNR) performance with a completely aligned single-polarized antenna array and a dual-polarized antenna array.

  • In this paper, a microstrip antenna is designed using a rectangular patch. To find characteristics of the antenna, computer simulations of the rectangular single microstrip patch antenna are performed with changing width. And we compared the result of computer simulation with the experimental value. Through the results, we found that the 3-D FDTD method is an effective method for designing microstrip patch antenna. According to simulation the resonant point has been found it in the frequency received from GPS satellite. It is thought that make it match by adjusting the feedpoint.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel single-feed dual-band circular polarization square patch antenna for GPS(global positioning system)/DMB(digital multimedia broadcasting) receiver. The proposed antenna has folded slots at the 4 corners and a diagonal slot at the center of the square patch. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidths of the proposed antenna were 84 MHz ranging from 1.516 GHz to 1.600 GHz for the low frequency band(GPS) and 109 MHz ranging from 2.596 GHz to 2.705 GHz for the high frequency band(DMB). The measured peak linear antenna gains of the proposed antenna were 6.23 dBi at 1.575 GHz for GPS and 6.97 dBi at 2.642 GHz for DMB band.

  • In this paper, we propose a dual-band GPS antenna using a single-layer coupled-feed structure for improvement of isolation and design complexity. The proposed antenna consists of a central feed patch and outer dual loops, and the loops are electromagnetically fed by the feed patch to induce currents. This feeding network can improve the isolation between antenna elements arranged in small arrays because the magnetic field strength near the antenna is minimized by confining the fields around the dual loops. The isolation characteristics of the proposed antenna are compared with those of the conventional multi-layer patch antenna, and the average field strength and the isolation are improved by 3 dB and 2 dB, respectively, which verifies that the antenna is suitable for small CRPA arrays.

  • Wideband terminal and base station is required to serve not only existing 1st and 2nd generation mobile communication systems but also 3rd generation systems. In this paper, we presents a feasibility study on single feed compact wideband antenna for wireless communication applications including GSM (890-960 MHz), GPS (1575 MHz), DCS (1710-1880 MHz), PCS (1880-1990 MHz), UMTS (1900-2200 MHz), ISM (2400-2480 MHz), IMT2000 and satellite DMB bands. The original antenna was designed for partial discharge detection sensor in high voltage diagnostic system. However, we modified the original prototype to achieve shifted down resonant frequency for wideband wireless communication applications. The experimental result shows good return loss characteristics and radiation patterns except for the total gain at each resonant frequency. The maximum measured gain was 2.45 dBi${\sim}$3.18 dBi at 1710 MHz${\sim}$1880 MHz.

  • The antenna arrays are known to be effective for GPS anti-jamming and the performance can be improved further if a dual-polarized antenna array is used. However, when the Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) beamformer is used as a signal processing algorithm for the dual-polarized antenna array, the anti-jamming performance can degrade in the presence of errors in the steering vector that is a key factor of the MVDR beamformer. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of the steering vector error on the anti-jamming performance of the dual-polarized antenna array is analyzed by simulations and the result is compared to that of the single-polarized antenna array.
