Reinforced concrete deep beams are commonly used in many structural applications, including transfer girders. pile caps, foundation walls. and offshore structures. In this paper. the shear behavior and reinforcement effects of simply supported reinforced concrete deep beam with variable depth subject to concentrated loads have been scrutinized using strut-and-tie model to verify the effects of variable depth. The analysis results show that strut-and-tie Model of ACI 318-02 code is very effective method to design of simply supported reinforced concrete deep beam with variable depth.
The differential quadrature method (D.Q.M.) is applied to computation of eigenvalues of small-amplitude free vibration for horizontally curved beams including a warping contribution. Fundamental frequencies are calculated for a single-span, curved, wide-flange beam with both ends simply supported or clamped, or simply supported-clamped end conditions. The results are compared with existing exact solutions and numerical solutions by other methods for cases in which they are available. The differential quadrature method gives good accuracy even when only a limited number of grid points is used.

In this paper, the dynamic stability of a cracked simply supported pipe conveying fluid with an attached mass is investigated. Also, the effect of attached masses on the dynamic stability of a simply supported pipe conveying fluid is presented for the different positions and depth of the crack. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the equation of motion can be constructed by the energy expressions using extended Hamilton's principle. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments. The crack is assumed to be in the first mode of a fracture and to be always opened during the vibrations. Finally, the critical flow velocities and stability maps of the pipe conveying fluid are obtained by changing the attached masses and crack severity. As attached masses are increased, the region of re-stabilization of the system is decreased but the region of divergence is increased.

This paper deals with the free vibration of two identical circular plates coupled with a bounded fluid. An analytical method based on the finite Fourier-Bessel series expansion and Rayleigh-Ritz method is suggested. In the theory, it is assumed that the ideal fluid is filled between the two plates and the plates are simply supported along the plate edges. The proposed method is verified by the finite element analysis using commercial software with an excellent accuracy. The effect of the plate boundary conditions on the fluid-coupled natural frequency is investigated.

This paper presents the free vibration analysis of a circular plate with a concentric square hole. The boundary condition is the edge of the square hole is free and the outer circular plate is simply supported. Due to the geometric abnormality, this analysis does not permit an exact solution. The present problem deals with the numerical calculation of the natural frequencies and mode shapes of vibration of the structure by independent coordinate coupling method(ICCM). The numerical results show the efficacy of the ICCM and changes in natural frequencies and modes due to the square hole size.

With the use of differential quadrature method (DQM), forced vibrations and resonance frequency analysis of functionally graded (FG) nano-size beams rested on elastic substrate have been studied utilizing a shear deformation refined beam theory which contains shear deformations influence needless of any correction coefficient. The nano-size beam is exposed to uniformly-type dynamical loads having partial length. The two parameters elastic substrate is consist of linear springs as well as shear coefficient. Gradation of each material property for nano-size beam has been defined in the context of Mori-Tanaka scheme. Governing equations for embedded refined FG nano-size beams exposed to dynamical load have been achieved by utilizing Eringen's nonlocal differential law and Hamilton's rule. Derived equations have solved via DQM based on simply supported-simply supported edge condition. It will be shown that forced vibrations properties and resonance frequency of embedded FG nano-size beam are prominently affected by material gradation, nonlocal field, substrate coefficients and load factors.
Since the actuators with small- scale structures may be exposed to external reciprocal actions lead to create undesirable loads causing instability, the buckling behaviors of them are interested to make reliable or accurate actions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze plastic buckling behavior of the micro beam structures by adopting a Conventional Mechanism-based Strain Gradient plasticity (CMSG) theory. The effect of length scale on critical force is considered for three types of boundary conditions, i.e. the simply supported, cantilever and clamped - simply supported micro beams. For each case, the stability equations of the buckling are calculated to obtain related critical forces. The constitutive equation involves work hardening phenomenon through defining an index of multiple plastic hardening exponent. In addition, the Euler-Bernoulli hypothesis is used for kinematic of deflection. Corresponding to each length scale and index of the plastic work hardening, the critical forces are determined to compare them together.
This paper aims to develop a quasi-3D shear deformation theory for the study of bending, buckling and free vibration responses of functionally graded (FG) sandwich thick plates. For that, in the present theory, both the components of normal deformation and shear strain are included. The displacement field of the proposed model contains undetermined integral terms and involves only four unknown functions with including stretching effect. Using Navier's technique the solution of the problem is derived for simply supported sandwich plate. Numerical results have been reported, and compared with those available in the open literature were excellent agreement was observed. Finally, a detailed parametric study is presented to demonstrate the effect of the different parameters on the flexural responses, free vibration and buckling of a simply supported sandwich plates.
This study utilizes large-scale shake table test to investigate the seismic performance of an isolated bridge with lead rubber bearings crossing an active fault. Two transverse restraining systems with and without shear keys are tested by applying spatially varying ground motions. It is shown that the near-fault span exhibits larger bearing displacement than the crossing-fault span. Bridge piers away from the fault rupture are more vulnerable than those adjacent to the fault rupture by attracting more seismic demand. It is also verified that the shear keys are effective in restraining the bearing displacement on the near-fault span, particularly under the large permanent ground displacement.
