ZSM-5-$SO_3H$ efficiently catalyzed the one-pot three-component Mannich reaction of aldehydes, anilines, and ketones. ${\beta}$-Aminocarbonyl compounds were obtained in reasonable yields and excellent stereoselectivities when the reaction was carried out at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. Simple experimental conditions and product isolation procedure makes this protocol potential for the development of clean and environment-friendly strategy for the synthesis of ${\beta}$-amino-ketones. The catalyst was recovered and reused for subsequent runs.

A new polymeric catalyst was prepared by supporting $GaCl_3$ on cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone ($GaCl_3$/PVP). This catalyst was employed for efficient and regioselective ring-opening reaction of epoxides by various alcohols under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. In our procedure, this heterogeneous catalyst was used at neutral and mild reaction conditions to afford high yields of ${\beta}$-alkoxy alcohols. Also, regioselective conversion of epoxides to ${\beta}$-azidohydrines was accomplished by sodium azide in MeOH in the presence of $GaCl_3$/PVP at room temperature. $GaCl_3$/PVP is a non-hygroscopic and recoverable catalyst and is easily separated from reaction mixture by a simple filtration and re-used repeatedly. Also, this catalyst has good handling and can be stored for long time without any reducing of its reactivity.

This paper presents a very simple procedure for determining the sensitivities of the eigenpairs of damped vibratory system with distinct eigenvalues. The eigenpairs derivatives can be obtained by solving algebraic equation with a symmetric coefficient matrix whose order is (n+1)×(n+1), where n is the number of degree of freedom the method is an improvement of recent work by I. W. Lee, D. O. Kim and G. H. Junng; the key idea is that the eigenvalue derivatives and the eigenvector derivatives are obtained at once via only one algebraic equation, instead of using two equations separately as like in Lee and Jung's method Of course, the method preserves the advantages of Lee and Jung's method.

In performance-based design methods, it is clear that the evaluation of the nonlinear response is required. The methods available to the design engineer today are nonlinear tim history analyses, or monotonic static nonlinear analyses, or equivalent static analyses with simulated inelastic influences. The nonlinear time analysis is the most accurate method in computing the nonlinear response of structures, but it is time-consuming and necessitate more efforts. Some codes proposed the capacity spectrum method based on the nonlinear static analysis to determine earthquake-induced demand given the structure pushover curve. This procedure is conceptually simple but iterative and time consuming with some errors. The nonlinear direct spectrum method is proposed and studied to evaluate nonlinear response of structures, without iterative computations, given by the structural linear vibration period and yield strength from the pushover analysis. The purpose of this paper is to compare the accuracy and the reliability of approximate nonlinear methods with respect to RC dual system and various earthquakes.

The aim of this study is to develop a procedure to estimate the wind loads from the accelerations of a tall building structure. The wind loads may be directly calculated using the inverse analysis or simply integrating the wind pressures of the overall structure. But, these methods are too expensive and impossible to implement in some cases. In this study, a simple method is proposed to estimate the wind loads using the Kalman filter. This method is very stable compared to the direct integration of the acceleration to get the velocity or displacement. The proposed method is verified thorough numerical analysis, and results show that the proposed method is robust and estimates the wind loads accurately.

This study describes the behavior and failure probability of basic structural member in case of fire for the research of safety assessment on onshore structure. Fire safety assessment can be done by comparing fire resistance of members with fire severity of heat load For more Practical applications, the commercial structural analysis program is linked with the in-house code and gets the limiting temperature by analyzing structural strength of member with elasto-plastic analysis and large deflection analysis. AFOSM method is utilized to obtain the failure probability against the fire. The examples of rather simple structures such as beams and plates are applied to explain and verify the procedure of fire safety assessment.

In this study, an artificial wheel load generation method is proposed to assist practical engineers performing dynamic analysis with simple procedure. To generate an artificial wheel loads from running vehicle, PSD(Power Spectrum Density) profiles of actual wheel load were sampled in terms of various road roughnesses. A detailed truck and bridge models were used for sampling actual wheel load to represent the real motion of moving vehicle. These wheel load profiles were simplified for the artificial wheel load. The simplification of actual wheel load profiles was performed by regression analysis. The result showed that the artificial wheel load well represents the real profiles of wheel load.
A blind hopping phase estimator is proposed for the demodulation of received signals in frequency-hopping spread spectrum systems. The received signals are assumed to be bandwidth limited with a shaping filter, modulated as frequency modulation (FM) or binary frequency shift keying (BFSK), and hopped by predetermined random frequency sequences. In the demodulation procedure in this paper, the hopping frequency tracking is accomplished by choosing a frequency component with maximum amplitude after taking a discrete Fourier transform, and the hopping phase estimator performs the conjugated product of two consecutive signals and moving-average filtering. The probability density function and Cramer-Rao low bound (CRLB) of the proposed estimator are evaluated. The proposed scheme not only is very simple to implement but also performs close to the CRLB in demodulating hopped FM/BFSK signals.
A method for UV labeling of fatty acids with 2-bromoacetyltriphenylene using 18-crown-6-ether as a catalyst is described. The procedure is rapid, simple, quantitative and applicable to the HPLC analysis of fatty acids with UV detector. They have high molar absorptivity and their detection limit was about 1ng level. Nine derivatives of saturated fatty acid($C_{12}-C_{22}$) were separated on reverse-phase column(${\mu}$-Bondapak C-18) using acetonitrile-water gradient.
The across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings with various geometric dimensions were investigated through a series of wind tunnel testing. The lift coefficients, power spectral densities and vertical correlation coefficients of the across-wind loads were analyzed and discussed in details. Taking the side ratio and terrain category as key variables, empirical formulas for estimating the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings were proposed on the basis of the wind tunnel testing results. Comparisons between the predictions by the empirical formulas and the wind tunnel test results were made to verify the accuracy and applicability of the proposed formulas. Moreover, a simplified procedure to evaluate the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings was derived from the proposed formulas. This study aims to provide a simple and reliable way for the estimation of across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings.
