  • As the public Internet and private internet have grown from small networks into large infrastructures, the need to more systematically manage the large number of network components within these networks has grown more important as well. The rapid growth of network size has brought into question the salability of the existing centralized model, such as SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) and CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol). Thus, for efficient network management, researches about mobile agent have also been performed recently. This paper presents analytical models of centralized approach based on SNMP protocol, distributed approach based on mobile agent, and mixed mode to make up for shortcomings of SNMP and mobile agent. We compare the performance of these analytical models based on network management response time. Experiment results show that performance of mobile agent and the nixed mode is less sensitive to the delay in WAN network environment. However, SNMP is more efficient for the simple network environment like LAN. We also propose an adaptive network management algorithm in consideration of network t environment. delay, task, and the number of nodes based on the results of analytical models. The results show that the adaptive network management algorithm can reduce the network management response time by 10% compared with either mobile agent or mixed mode network management algorithm.

  • The fluorescent lamp has been successfully modeled by employing the radial variation of particle density and considering driving circuit effects on the characteristics of discharge process. The electron energy distribution is assumed to have a Maxwellian. The electron mobility and the ambipolar diffusion coefficients are considered to vary with an electron energy rather than a simple uniform value. Energy states of mercury atom in the discharge process are regarded as six levels rather than simple 4 or 5 levels. These discharge processes have been accurately solved by numerically employing mixed the FDM and the 2nd Runge-Kutta method. This model was applied to analyzing real circuit. Simulation and experimental results were presented to verify the feasibility of the modeling. Simulation and experimental results were presented to verify the feasibility of the modeling.

  • Simple spanwise distribution models of deviation angle and pressure loss coefficient due to the tip leakage flow are formulated for use in association with the streamline curvature method as a flow analysis. Combining these new models with the previous deviation and loss models due to secondary flow, a robust streamline curvature method is established for flow analysis of single-stage, subsonic axial turbines with wide ranges of turning angle, aspect ratio and blading type. At the exit from rotor rows, the flow variables are mixed radially according to a spanwise transport equation. The proposed streamline curvature method is tested against a forced vortex type turbine as well as a free vortex type one. The results show that the spanwise variations of flow angle, axial velocity and loss coefficients at rotor exit are predicted with good accuracy, being comparable to a steady three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. This simple and fast flow analysis is found to be very useful for the turbine design at the initial design phase.

  • A simple compost windrow-forming car and a compost tuner were developed at the aim of low cost manure management systems. The developed compost windrow- forming car is possible windrows formation at a short time. In order to be pulverized and mixed by upper and lower beaters at the windrow-forming, the condition of air and the mixing of materials to play a major role in composting is filled. This car can also utilized for a manure spreader by folding the windrow-forming cover. The developed compost turner is a type equipped with tractor rear-right side. Main specifications are 2.5m working width, overall length 3.3m and 45degrees conveyer inclination angle, 2 beaters for mixing and pulverization are equipped in front parts. Windrows of 2.5m width and 1.5m height are turned at the speed of 4.5-5.1m/min. In accordance with the above, by combining the compost windrow-forming car and the compost turner, a simple composting system for each farmer could be constructed by the low c st.

  • An attempt was made to develop a simple testing method fro blast resistance in the aged rice plant grown under the paddy field conditions. The blast resistance was tested with the detached 3rd leaves from the top of the plant, which were inoculated by dropping blast spore suspension mixed with 1% Tween 20 on the punched area and kept in 1% sucrose solution. The blast reaction was measured ten days after incubation at 26-28$^{\circ}C$ under highly humid conditions. With this method blast resistant lines were effectively identified and the cost of testing was cheap as compared with any other methods ever practiced.

  • A simple model of the tip leakage flow models of the rotor downstream flow is developed, based on Lakshminarayana's theoretical concept on the tip clearance flow and the experimental data published in open literature. And new spanwise distribution models of deviation angle and pressure loss coefficient due to the tip leakage flow are formulated for use in association with the streamline curvature method as a through flow analysis. Combining these new models and previous deviation and loss models due to secondary flow, a robust streamline curvature method is established for flow analysis of single-stage, subsonic axial turbines with wide ranges of turning angle, aspect ratio and blading type. • In a distributed system, the simple file allocation problem determines the placement of copies of a file, so as to minimize the operating costs. The simple file allocation problem assumes the cost parameters to be fixed. In practice, these parameters change over time. In this research, dynamic file allocation problem for both single and multiple files are considered, which account for these changing parameters. A model for dynamic file allocation problem is formulated as a mixed integer program for which Lagrangian relaxation based branch-and-bound algorithm is developed. This algorithms is implemented and its efficiency is tested on medium to large test problems.

  • (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based ceramic powders for lead-free piezoelectric applications are usually prepared by solid state synthesis. This generally involves wet ball milling in an organic liquid such as ethanol, which is a drawback for industrial production. In the present work, a method for the preparation of NaNbO3 nanopowders is modified to produce a simple method of preparing (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 nanopowders by an aqueous route. K2CO3, Na2CO3 and NH4[NbO(C2O4)2].xH2O are mixed in water and dried to form a gel, which is then calcined at temperatures between 400 ~ 650 ℃ for 1 h. The uncalcined gel and calcination products are analysed using Thermogravimetric Analysis/Differential Thermal Analysis, X-ray Diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy and Raman Scattering. A single phase tetragonal (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 nanopowder with a particle size of ~ 30 nm can be produced after calcination at 650 ℃ for 1 h.
