In this study, a laboratory model test on utilization of recycled aggregates and crushed stone as vertical drains to use alternative material of sand in soft ground is performed. The vertical and horizontal coefficient of permeability of the recycled aggregates and crushed stone showed largely 1.2~4.0 times and 3.0~3.3 times greater than sand, respectively. Therefore, it showed enough to be an alternative material to the sand which had been being used as the vertical and horizontal drainage material before. The variations of pore water pressure with time showed constantly regardless of the load in all vertical drainage materials. When water level drops suddenly, the pore water pressure of the recycled aggregate and crushed aggregate is reduced to nearly zero. Therefore, it was applicable to the field because discharge capacity was similarity to that of sand. The settlement in crushed aggregates and recycled aggregate decreases gradually with the load increase. When water level drops suddenly, earth pressure in all drains materials was evaluated the equivalent drainage capacity similarity to sand because it show approaching the nearly zero.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a simulation model of a stacking guidance system (SGS) with a roller guide applicable to the mobile harbor. The study used a small-scale model (1/20) made of wood with rollers in order to compare the dynamic analysis with experiment results. The law of similarity was applied for the validation of the scaled model. In order to construct a more realistic simulation model, the damping coefficient of the dynamic model was adjusted to 0.5 Ns/mm for the wood-to-wood contact condition based on the experimental results. Using this validated model, dynamic simulations were also carried out for containers of 20, 30, and 40 tons. The results showed that the reaction force of the roller guide was increased from 74.7 kN to 91.2 kN as the weight of container increased. For the design of a roller guide for SGS, the results obtained in this study can be used to reduce the reaction force by employing a rubber roller or a highly damped rotational joint.

The laminar boundary layer flow and heat transfer of anisotropic fluids in the vicinity of a wedge have been examined with constant surface temperature. The similarity variables found by Falkner and Skan are employed to reduce the stream wise-dependence in the coupled nonlinear boundary layer equations. The numerical solutions are presented using the fourth-order Runge - Kutta method and the distribution of velocity, micro-rotation, shear and couple stresses and temperature across the boundary layer are plotted. These results are also compared with the corresponding flow problems for Newtonian fluid over wedges. It is found that for a constant wedge angle, the skin friction coefficient is lower for micropolar fluid, as compared to Newtonian fluid. For the case of the constant material parameter K, however, the magnitude of velocity for anisotropic fluid is greater than that of Newtonian fluid. The numerical results also show that for a constant wedge angle with a given Prandtl number, Pr = I, the effect of increasing values of K results in increasing thermal boundary layer thickness for anisotropic fluid, as compared with Newtonian fluid. For the case of the constant material parameter K, however, the heat transfer rate for anisotropic fluid is lower than that of Newtonian fluid.
To find a new substance with superior melanogenesis inhibitory activity, the bioactivities of alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5-substituted benzoate (A) and N-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5-substituted benzamide (B) derivatives as substrate of tyrosinase were measured in mouse melanoma cells. And the bioactivities analyzed using comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA). From the CoMSIA model, when cross-validation value (q$^2$) is 0.713 at four components, the pearson correlation coefficient ($r^2$) is 0.900. Unknown compounds were predicted, using QSAR analyzed results from the CoMSIA methods. Excellent agreement was obtained between the measured and the predicted bioactivities of unknown compounds. As the results of prediction from CoMSIA, we could conclude that the bioactivities were increased from pl$_{50}$=3.18-4.80 to above 5.17 by creation of 6-methylheptyl, n-pentylphenyl and 2-hydroxypentylphenyl group etc,.,.

Broadening the genetic base of Platycodon grandiflorum DC. cultivar to sustain improvement requires assessment of genetic diversity available in P. grandiflorum DC.. The objective of this study was to analyze the genetic variation, genetic relationship among 48 samples collected from East-Asian Area by means of RAPD-PCR (random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction) markers. From the 18 primers tested, produced total 211 bands with an average of 11.7 bands per primer and obtained 103 polymorphic band with an average of 5.7 bands per primer,s revealed relatively high percentage of polymorphic bands (48.8%). The genetic similarities calculated from RAPD data varied from 0.688 to 0.994 and were clustered to six major groups on a criterion of 0.78 similarity coefficient. The present study has revealed the significant genetic similarity among the samples tested. The analysis of genetic relationships in P. grandiflorum using RAPD-PCR banding data can be useful for the breed improvement.
Intraspecific genetic relationship of 19 variation types of the Yam (Dioscorea alata) classified by their external morphological characteristics such as leaf and tuber shape were assessed by DNA using random and specific primer. Twenty two out of 113 primers (100 random[10-mer] primers, two 15 mer [M13 core sequence, and (GGAT)$_4$ sequence]) had been used in PCR-amplification. Only 12 primers, however, were success in DNA amplification in all of the analyzed plants, resulting in 93 randomly and specifically amplified DNA fragments. The analyzed taxa showed very high polymorphisms(69 bands, 71.0 %), allowing individual taxon to be identified based on DNA fingerprinting. Monomorphic bands among total amplified DNA bands of each primer was low under the 50%. Similarity indices between accessions were computed from PCR(polymerase chain reaction) data, and genetic relationships among intraspecific variations were closely related at the levels ranging from 0.66 to 0.90. These DNA data were not matched well with those of morphological characters since they were divided into two major groups at the similarity coefficient value of 0.70. Therefore, Grouping of species into variation types by mainly morphological charactistics was suggested unreasonable.
This paper presents the results of a theoretical study of the effect of radiation during free convective laminar film boiling for methanol/water binary mixtures on an isothermal vertical wall at atmospheric pressure. With the well-known boundary layer theory as a basis, a theoretical model has been formulated into consideration for mass diffusion at liquid phase. The equations are numerically solved by a similarity method to investigate the effects of radiation emissivity on the surface with various parameters such as wall superheat and composition of more volatile component at liquid phase far from the wall. From the results, the distributions of the physical quantifies are investigated in both phases. New correlations are proposed to predict the heat transfer coefficient of binary mixtures. It is shown that the proposed correlations are in good agreement with numerical results and with Bromley's correlation within maximum $11\%$ errors. It is also found that as the wall superheat is increased, radiation effect becomes more important.
