This paper deals with an automatic and precision alignment technique for proximity printing in x-ray lithography, using two pairs of moire gratings, with moire signals from each pair being 180.deg. out of phase with each other. We constructed an automatic and precision alignment experimental system which could measure both transmitted moire signals and reflected moire signals at the same time. The automatic alignment was achieved using transmitted moire signals and also reflected moire signals as a control signal for a stage driver. The alignment position of the system was monitored not only by a control signal but also by a non-control signal. The effect of transmitted and reflected moire signals upon alignment accuracy was discussed. We concluded that the technique using diffracted moire signals is a viable automatic and precision alignment technique.

In this study, we suggest an emulator for generating multiple heterogeneous interference signals in the Korean radio frequency identification/ubiquitous sensor network (RFID/USN) frequency band. The proposed emulator uses only one universal software radio peripheral to generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals more economically. Moreover, the physical and media access control parameters can be adjusted in real time using the LabVIEW program, thereby making it possible to create various time-varying interference environments easily. As an example showing the capability of the proposed emulator, multiple interference signals consisting of a frequency-hopping RFID signal and two LoRa signals with different spreading factors were generated. The generated signals were confirmed in both frequency and time domains. From the experimental results, we verified that our emulator could successfully generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals with different frequency and time domain characteristics.
In power quality monitoring, voltage fluctuation is one of the power quality problems, which cause light flickers. To determine the flicker severity, the flicker meter concept was developed in an IEC 61000-4-15 standard. Generally, voltage fluctuations are described as an amplitude modulation(AM). The flicker meter of IEC 61000-4-15 as an international standard for flicker measurement recommends square demodulation method to detect flicker signals from voltage fluctuation signals. This paper suggests a new effective method using filter bank to detect and estimate flicker signals, which do not need square demodulation. For the accurate detection of flicker signals, the filter bank is designed with a full consideration of the spectrum characteristics of voltage fluctuation signals described as AM. The frequency and magnitude of the detected flicker signals are estimated using recursive method. Computer simulations were performed on synthesized signals to prove validity of the proposed method.

Secondary damage to the user is a problem in biometrics. A brain-wave has no shape and a malicious user may not cause secondary damage to a user. However, if user sends brain-wave signals to an authentication system using a network, a malicious user could easily capture the brain-wave signals. Then, the malicious user could access the authentication system using the captured brain-wave signals. In addition, the dataset containing the brain-wave signals is large and the transfer time is long. However, user authentication requires a real-time processing, and an encryption scheme on brain-wave signals is necessary. In this paper, we propose an efficient encryption scheme using a chaos map and adaptive junk data on the brain-wave signals for user authentication. As a result, the encrypted brain-wave signals are produced and the processing time for authentication is reasonable in real-time.
This paper aims for the development of the high power sonar system for measuring the velocity of a moving object. The high power sonar system transmits two gated 190 kHz sinusoidal signals with 1.6 [ms] time interval to the moving object. Then the sonar system detects and calculates the changed time delay of the reflected ultrasonic signals in order to derive the velocity of the moving object. The transmission part uses a high power amplifier so that 250 W gated sinusoidal signals can be transmitted to the transmitter. 1M RAM is utilized for transmitting and storing of the ultrasonic signals. The time delay is calculted by the cross-correlation technique between the transmitted signals and the received signals. The measured value from the high power sonar system is compared with directly measured values by photo diodes. The result confirms the adjacency to 0.3% error.
The objective of this paper is to obtain the contribution of each source to the spectrum of pressure, when there are multiple incoherent sources in near-field acoustic holography. For this objective, we have to obtain signals very coherent to the input signals of the sources. To obtain the very coherent signals, many people have measured pressure signals in the vincinity of the sources. However, it is sometimes difficult to locate microphones near to the sources so that the signals are very coherent to the input signals. This paper proposed a method to obtain the very coherent signals by near-field acoustic holography. Therefore, the proposed method does not require the measurement of pressure near to each source. Simulation results for two incoherent monopole sources showed the possibility of the proposed method.
This paper addresses the issue of time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) estimation for complex noncircular signals. First, under the wide-sense stationary assumption, we derive the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator and the Cramer-Rao lower bound for Gaussian noncircular signals in Gaussian circular noise. The ML estimator uses the second-order statistics information of a noncircular signal more comprehensively when compared with the cross-correlation (CC) and the conjugate CC estimators. Further, we present a scheme to modify the traditional signal-selective TDOA methods for noncircular signals on the basis of the cyclostationarity of man-made signals. This scheme simultaneously exploits the information contained in both the cyclic cross-correlation (CCC) and the conjugate CCC of a noncircular signal.
The separation of spectrally overlapped broadband echo signals from free-swimming Japanese needlefish Hypohamphus sajori using the fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) was investigated. The broadband echo signals were measured over frequency ranges of 40-80 and 110-220 kHz. The overlapped echo signals were separated after eliminating noise signals in the smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution domain. The echo signal from a 40 mm WC sphere suspended just below a chirp transducer was used to calibrate the broadband of the chirp echo sounder and estimate the frequency dependence of target strength for the separated echo signals. The experimental results show that the proposed FrFT method can analyze the time-frequency image of broadband echo signals from free-swimming individual fish effectively and can be used as a quantitative tool for extracting the acoustic features used for fish species identification.
An stereophonic acoustic echo canceller cannot exactly estimate the echo path in the receiving room, because of the cross-correlation between stereo signals. In this paper, the new preprocessing filter is proposed to reduce the cross-correlation between the signals without influence on stereophonic sound. Two channel signals are linearly decorrelated by using orthogonality principles and the attenuated absolute values of the decorrelated signals are added to each channel input signals. Assuming that the power of each channel signal is larger than that of the cross-correlation, computational burden is reduced.
Described is a new control signal transmission system which utilizes an optical fiber to transmit 2-bit control signals from the transmitter to receiver. In the transmitter the DC series control voltages are converted into the multiple frequency signals by voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The multiple frequency signals can easily be transmitted by optical fiber. In the receiver the multiple frequency signals can be detected by analog or digital circuits and then be converted into 2-state control signals which can be used for a variety of applications.
